Yesterday afternoon, drill rapper Nas Blixky was shot in the head. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
There has been no update on his condition from the hospital or the Blixky crew. The young rapper is the latest in a line of casualties the Blixky crew has suffered. Nas’ partner, Nick Blixky, died in a similar incident. This is the latest in a string of brutal assaults on rappers over the past year, including Young Dolph.
What happened to Nas Blixky?
In an interview with The Sun, Nas Blixky commented on the state of his neighborhood. In his mind, strangers were not welcome, “It’s like any regular neighborhood. It’s like every ghetto part in Bk that you can think of. Like, if you ain’t from there, don’t come there.”
The young Brooklyn rapper is no stranger to violence. Just two years ago, Nick Blixky, who featured in much of Nas Blixky’s music, was shot and killed in a similar manner. Hours before his death, Nick promoted an upcoming album. He was shot in the torso soon after. Nick died, aged just 21-years old.
3 days before his shooting, Nas Blixky released a similar video on his Instagram. He criticized a rival’s album, titled PG-16, and previewed a new diss track targeting it. Fans, and rivals, of the rapper have suggested this diss track as a possible motive for the shooting.
As of this moment, the police have yet to make an arrest, nor have they released a list of suspects.
Kicking a downed man
In the wake of this horrific act of violence, Nas Blixky’s rivals have seized the opportunity to insult him.
Because mocking a gravely wounded man who cannot defend himself evidently makes them manly. Of particular note is rapper Nas EBK, who unleashed a barrage of ill wishes directed towards the injured artist. Here, he gleefully celebrates the “death” of his rival. He also mocks similar killings, including that of Nick Blixky.
