Kanye West is reportedly worth over $2 billion, but Smokepurpp believes he is owed a slice of Kanye’s fortune. In addition, Purpp took to social media on Wednesday (Apr 13) to claim Yeezy still owes him $9 million, without specifying the reason for his claim.
“And Kanye, n**ga, you owe me like $9 million, n**ga. Hit my line, n**ga, or my lawyer’s gonna hit your lawyer,” he said.
Smokepurpp did not precisely specify the cause of the issue. However, we can assume the tension stems from his writing credit on Kanye West and Lil Pump’s hit single “I Love It.” However, the “Audi” rapper revealed on No Jumper in 2019 that he wrote “I Love It” with Lil Pump on his 18th birthday.
“The “I Love It” sh*t. I wrote that sh*t,” Purpp said. “Basically, it was on Pump’s birthday. Basically, this ni**a [Kanye West] just called Pump, blah-blah-blah. He wanted to make a song about this, and I just wrote the song. And it randomly just came out. And he’s like, ‘Yo, the sh*t you wrote came out.'”
Smokepurpp Believes He Is To Receive Some Of Yeezy’s Money
Furthermore, Smokepurpp is one of seven credited writers on “I Love It.” This song certified double-platinum and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 6. Also, he clearly feels he is yet to receive a fair share of the proceeds for his contributions to the record.
Ultimately, Kanye West and Purpp share even more history. During an interview with HipHopDX in 2020, Smokepurpp discussed how he had to remove a Kanye West verse from the track “No Problem.” Kanye disapproved of himself for cursing in the song.
