Nick Cannon’s New Podcast Defends Kyrie Irving

Nick Canon shared a snippet of his new podcast on Instagram. In the clip, he discusses Kyrie Irving’s suspension, comparing it to buck-breaking.

Buck-breaking was what slave owners would do to the slaves that got out of line. They would abuse them in front of the other slaves as a sign of control.

Irving was given a five-game suspension after he linked an antisemitic documentary on Twitter last month. For a week after posting the link to the documentary, he refused to apologize or even say that he was not antisemitic. He only changed his tune after he was suspended on Nov 3. However, it was too late. His deal with Nike had also been suspended the following day.

On Nov 2, Irving announced with the Anti-Defamation League that he was going to donate $500,000 to anti-hate causes, which was one of the conditions for his suspension. He made a statement that he did not believe everything in the documentary. However, he did not say which parts those exceptions were.

With the suspension, the Nets had given Irving some conditions before he would be allowed back on the team. He would have to meet with Jewish leaders, go through counseling, and meet with the team, among other conditions.

Cannon’s podcast take on Irving

In Nick Cannon’s new podcast, 2 Hate or Not 2 Hate, he was joined by the CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, Jonathan Greenblatt. Cannon comes out of the gate saying that he knows that Kyrie Irving is not anti-Semitic. He has made some anti-semitic comments of his own in the past. Greenblatt explained that during the press conference where Irving was officially suspended, Irving did not ever say that he was not anti-semitic when asked point blank. Also, when he was asked to recap the movie, he said “stop dehumanizing me.”

Cannon then compares the harmful tropes found within the video to Irving’s consequences, calling it buck-breaking. He claims that it is dehumanizing. The clip ends, however, before Greenblatt could counter.

50 Cent Thinks Kanye West Should Be Quiet

50 Cent gives Kanye West some advice. He tells him to just stop talking. He has never seen anything like this before.

50 Cent shared on Instagram a CNN Report talking about Ye’s fascination with Hitler. He has since deleted the post. According to the report, a former executive who used to work with West had an obsession with Hitler. He even wanted to name his 2018 album after the Nazi leader. In cut-out segments of interviews, he talked about how much he liked Hitler and the Nazis.

In the caption, Fiddy says that West should just accept that his career is over. There is no coming back from this. Most people would pull back and do damage control when they first get canceled. Ye is not doing any of that and is instead charging ahead.

Ye created a meme

Kanye West’s ban on Instagram is over, and he starts a new meme. He posts a fake news article that says Ye is cutting ties with Kanye West. He is trying to say that his music will now be divorced from his personal life and values. However, that is literally impossible. Every idea is flavored by the background and beliefs that come from the source. Even when one tries to be neutral, prejudice sneaks into the work. Nothing comes into being without a source and thus prejudices.

Several other artists, including 50 Cent, N.O.R.E., and even Young Thug in prison, know that this is impossible and are mocking West. They are all claiming that their stage names are cutting ties with their personal selves.

Adidas Leaves Kanye West Contract

Fashion giant Adidas reveals it has terminated its contract with Kanye West after his recent anti-Semitic actions. This action is expected to lose $250 million in profit for Adidas. Despite this loss they are still going forward with the move.

A partnership comes to an end

Kanye West has been partnering with Adidas since 2015. He was once partnered with Nike, but he left the brand after they would not give him royalties despite the increased attention his shoe brought the sportswear company. According to their deal Adidas let him keep 100% of the brand and full creative control of the shoe until the product was released. However the shoe is ultimately owned by Adidas.

Adidas terminated the contract after weeks of pressure from human rights activists. The German based company claimed it has a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-semitism. They will no longer pay royalties to Ye and can no longer use the name Yeezy. They are stopping all production immediately. However, Adidas still owns all of the design rights. Both the existing products and all of the past and current colorways.

It is currently unknown what Ye is going to do with the Yeezy brand. There is something that we do know, however. As he currently is, it will be hard to find a distributor that will be willing to work with him.

Ye is going off of the deep end recently, however this may be just the kick he needed to get off of the anti-semitic White Lives Matter route that he is going. This is not the first company that has cut ties with him over this, and it will not be the last. So far, he has lost his talent agency CAA, the French fashion label Balenciaga, Gap Inc., and MRC, a studio that had to scrap a completed documentary on him.
