Fenty By Rihanna May Be Taken To Another Level, The Artist Trademarks ‘Fenty Hair’ To Soon Sell Wigs And Hair Products!

Rihanna may have recently given birth to a baby boy, but that won’t stop the artist and beauty module from continuing her business adventures. According to All Hip Hop, Rihanna filed for a new trademark with a mission to sell wigs and other hair products, called Fenty Hair.

Fenty brand expanding into hair products!

Although it’s been a while since Rihanna has put out any music, the “Sex With Me” artist continues her success by expanding her beauty line with Fenty Hair, as she feels fans would love to strut wigs made by her. The United States Patent and Trademark Office worked with her company, Roraj Trade, LLC, in filing legal documents geared toward hair care. On March 3, the singer produced two Fenty Hair categories with a variety of hair care products. Included in the categories were not only hairbrushes and combs, but also hair accessories, and several styling implements. The trademark also designed wigs, hair extensions, other false hair, and toupees.  The two categories continue to expand surrounding anything from styling, straightening, relaxing, and waving products to even hair color and glitter.

Rihanna taking over hair care industry!

Rihanna may be taking over the hair care industry as trademark applications would agree. Over the years, the superstar has gained an extremely loyal fanbase worldwide in which her global empire includes Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and Savage x Fenty and now introducing Fenty Hair.

In other news, Rihanna took a trip to Paris this weekend to support her man, A$AP Rocky while he is on his European tour. While strutting around the city before A$AP’s Lollapalooza concert, the Fenty Owner and new mom has never looked better for someone after giving birth. She appeared to be very stylish as always rocking an Adidas x Balenciaga navy, green, and white ensemble with pantaleggings to cover her heels. Rihanna has always been a trendsetter, especially during her pregnancy but for this occasion, she accessorized the sporty look with layers of necklaces and chains, and to top off the look with some signature glam.

Coi Leray Addresses Body Shaming Comments

Coi Leray wants to know why her body is always the topic of conversation on Twitter

There has been a problem with women’s bodies being a topic of conversation in many communities, specifically the music industry. Women in the past have struggled with audience perception and comments on their bodies and the marginalization they face. At the BET Awards earlier this week, Coi Leray attended wearing a bikini top and baggy pants in her typical fashion.

Is there a certain way I’m supposed to look? Help me understand”

People were quick to make comments on her body and compare it to men of similar shape, thus degrading her and making her body a talking point. Coi sent multiple tweets, one saying, “In the Bible is it a sin to be thin? I don’t understand” in response to these comments. The 2021 XXL Freshman rapper has confidence in herself and does not seem overly phased by the comments she received.

The commentary on women’s bodies is not new, especially in the hip-hop community. However, musicians like Coi Leray, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Cardi B are making moves to set new standards. This will hopefully put an end to the unrealistic standards the music industry has for women in 2021. We love to see empowered women taking over the industry and changing stigmas!

Cardi B Is Making More Money Moves With New Beauty Line

On Wednesday, the rap star filed documents to secure the rights to the name “Bardi Beauty.” Cardi herself hasn’t confirmed the release of her brand yet but has hinted at it in the past few years. The document listed haircare, skincare, nail care, fragrance, and makeup as items that the company will sell. She has already made moves in the fashion industry, collaborating with Reebok and Fashion Nova. Bardi Beauty will be her first time stepping into the beauty industry.

Fans have been quick to respond, and the reviews have been mixed. Many fans are excited to see the former Love&Hip Hop alum make her break into the beauty industry and expand her empire. But some fans are annoyed about yet another female artist joining the beauty game. Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, and others have already done this.

While many fans question whether Cardi B should set up a beauty line when so many exist already, her fanbase and the beauty community seem overall supportive of a black female artist getting her bag (as they should!).

Some fans have even given suggestions to what Cardi should do with her beauty brand specifically, with one Twitter fan suggesting she open a salon instead of making the same beauty product move that many female artists have already done.

Overall, the support for the Bodak Yellow artist herself is overwhelming. But in the words of Cardi herself “If they love me or they hate me it don’t make no difference!”

Indeed! Keep doing YOU.

#FMFeline: Meet the 23-year-old CEO of @MulanVBeauty

At just 23 years old, Los Angeles native Mulan V of Mulan V Beauty has established a global brand, and positioned her company as a force to be reckoned with among online retailers. MulanVBeauty.com offers premium hair extensions, closures, eyelashes, cosmetics, styling products, and more at a price that continues to capture the attention of discerning consumers around the world. The talent and drive of the businesswoman born Marshayé Nicole Miller was also noticed by the team at Tyra Beauty, a makeup and skincare line founded by entertainment mogul Tyra Banks. The company will soon feature its products on the Mulan V Beauty website, demonstrating their confidence in the quality of her products, and the long-term success of her brand.

In addition to these accomplishments, Mulan V is also an actress, singer, and rapper signed to independent label Freestyle Records Inc. Her latest single, “Drop It,” is available on iTunes, TIDAL, and other digital outlets, and its accompanying music video has received over 125,000 views on YouTube. In an exclusive interview with FM Hip Hop, multi-talented entrepreneur and #FMFeline Mulan V shares lessons learned, motivation for her “V Dolls,” and what’s next.

FM HIP HOP: When did you found Mulan V Beauty, and what inspired you to launch the brand?

MULAN V: It started in high school… I take my appearance seriously, so I was doing the hair, makeup, things like that. But girls would ask me all the time, “Where did you get that hairstyle from, and that makeup?” How to do this, how to do that? I was giving one-on-one advice… but I figured, why not start a brand where I could give back and show girls the right quality? So I started my own, and I wanted it to be affordable too. I launched [Mulan V Beauty] about two years ago.

FM: How do you balance your roles as a recording artist and a businesswoman in the beauty industry?

MV: I try to put together a strong team of people that work for my brand and help me do what we need to do to get things done. I’m full-time– an artist and a businesswoman– so I kind of just split my time in half. When I’m not in the studio or working on music, I’m definitely in meetings, running my business, making sure everything is going smooth.

FM: As female entrepreneurs especially, we have a tendency to try to take on everything ourselves. What have been some of the benefits of having that strong team?

MV: I will be honest… I had to understand that as well. When I first got involved: “Oh, I’m going to do everything.” And then I realized, when the business started becoming more successful than I anticipated, so early– I was like, “I need help.” You can’t do it on your own. Having a team is important because you have so many different brains that come up with ideas that you don’t even have the time to even think of… You have people on your team that are skilled in specific things like marketing, and they’re skilled in sales, and that’s all that they do. They know so much about that field that they’ll teach you things that you didn’t even know were important.

FM: Who are some of the women that inspired you?

MV: A lot of women have inspired me, like Michelle Obama. I love Oprah for business reasons, and Tyra Banks, of course. Just to name a few. Also a lot of hip-hop women, like Missy Elliot.

FM: What are you currently working on on the music side?

MV: I’m working on some new songs; there are plans for a mixtape in the works… we’re going to be releasing some little surprises and little teasers over the next couple of months. Definitely there will be more music coming this year.

FM: Many people have an interest in beauty or may procure items for their friends, but not everyone goes  to the next level with a full website, a range of branded products, and presenting at leading shows. How were you able to take it to the next step?

MV: I said if I was going to do a beauty company, I wasn’t going to try to do it halfway. I want to go all in. I want to make sure we get as much success as possible. And it was different opportunities happening at the right time. We ended up being able to do Bonner Bros. [International Beauty Show] a year ago… We do a lot of investment into the company to make sure that it excelled, and just making sure that we were available for different opportunities to network with the right people and connect with the right people. I think that’s so important with business, and that really helped us to expand and get things were it is now.

FM: What distinguishes Mulan V Beauty from its competitors?

MV: Our brand is very affordable. I’m very big on selling high quality products for an affordable price… I have to go back and forth with a lot of people, they’re like, “You should up your prices, your stuff is so nice.” But that’s what makes it stand out from other people. I believe in not taking advantage of my customers. I used to be a consumer trying to save to buy beauty products and stuff. A lot of people are in it just for the money. I’m in it for the money but also for the experience: Seeing the look on a woman’s face when they buy the product. We have sales and I do a lot of giveaways for hair extensions, lipstick, just so girls can try the product.

FM: What does it mean to be a “V Doll”?

MV: To be a V Doll means that you’re a fan of the brand. Anybody can be a V Doll! You get to know a lot of inside announcements before everybody else, you get to know about secret giveaways… sometimes the giveaways aren’t open to everybody at first, so you might get a heads up. Sometimes we even ask for their opinions on certain things. There definitely are a lot of perks of being a V Doll.

FM: What advice do you have for aspiring female entrepreneurs?

MV: Believe in yourself, first and foremost. Whenever you have an idea like that, there’s always going to be people that are going to get in your head… It’s your vision at the end of the day, so don’t let other people try to get in and cloud your judgement. Don’t let people confuse you and deter you from your dream and what you’re trying to do.

Always make sure you’re setting an example for younger girls, because there are other people out there watching you and taking notes, and they might aspire to be where you are some day. Always make sure that you keep your brand positive and you give something that women can appreciate.

FM: What’s next for Mulan V Beauty?

MV: We’ll be expanding the collaboration that we have with Tyra Banks’ line, more products to be released, some new things coming– we like to give them out as surprises, but definitely new products are going to be launched. There’s a lot more stuff coming, and more sales. A lot of cool stuff!

#HipHop4Her: A Moment To Be Alone

Life grabs a hold of us and just doesn’t seem to let go. We’re in a whirlpool made of schoolwork, our careers, babies, boyfriends, family and we’re girls. Somehow women have a way of making time for it all and forget to have “me” time, not realizing how essential having time for ourselves can be. We all wish we could be at every place at one time because we don’t want to miss anything. Sometimes we have to drop everything and just take a moment to get to know ourselves. Since we forget to care for ourselves it’s easy to lose touch with fashion, makeup, hobbies, what we like and what we don’t like. It’s important to know who we are as a person.

There are some of us who can’t seem to stay away from what needs our attention. OR it could be that we are so attached to our men, careers, family and friends that it’s hard to disconnect. Yes, everyone will miss you but just go M.I.A for a day. Tell your man that you need a day of pampering and even try to make him pay for it. He’s probably the reason you need a day to yourself anyway. Go get your nails done, hair done, go shop, or splurge on an item you’ve been eyeing. I would even suggest looking for something new to try like yoga, an African dance class, or a cooking class. Just something or someplace where you can focus on yourself.

Stress is even more of a reason to take a day off from everything. We shouldn’t let life take a toll on us, because it does get hard, and then it becomes unbearable. But by taking an occasional time out, you can avoid the feeling of an overload. As much as we’d all love to pretend to be Wonder Woman and possess her awesome outfit and accessories, unfortunately we’re not. We become tired and the days wear us out. So do something that will benefit your well-being.

#HipHop4Her: Being A Threat To The Female Race

Females have a tendency to do this thing. I say thing because there’s no specific name for it. It is this prejudice, stereotypical, assumption about other females. I only know because it has happened to me plenty of times. Females judge the female who is confident, into her self, beautiful, fashionable, with the resting bitch face. “She’s stuck up, she’s a bitch, or she thinks she’s all that.” Mean while the girl that’s being judged is nothing like what they make her out to be. She could be the most down to earth, friendly, and modest person. But females are so quick to judge each other off appearance, rather than giving the person a chance.

There are a lot of reasons for the quick judgment given by women. It could be insecurity, intimidation, jealousy or straight up hating. Women fail to support and uplift one another, there is a constant competition going on. Why is it that women feel threatened by those who hold themselves to a higher stature?

Men have been known to compete with one another, whether it is healthy or unhealthy. They compete over the physicality and status of life. Women compete over who has the better clothes, shoes, attractiveness and personality. So of course women are going to feel threatened when one woman has more of a quality than they do. There are five main characteristics that can make a woman a threat to another woman.

  1. Beauty: Being beautiful is both a blessing and a curse. Other females are more likely to make up a reason not to like you because they feel threatened by your looks. Any single female is going to consider you as competition for the most eligible bachelor. Weight also plays a factor in being beautiful, if you have the summer body all year around other girls will be green with envy.
  2. Brains: If you’re beautiful and educated that’s a double threat. It’s intimidating to be around a female that is very into her books. Whether it is library or text book. Especially if you’re friends with her. But this can also motivate you to do better in class, read the newspaper more often and learn some new dictionary words.
  3. Fashion Forward: If you stay up on the latest fashion trends and are giving endless chic-ness then yes, be prepared for the stare downs. You’ll have females wishing they were you with the way you dress.
  4. Confidence: Nothing is wrong with being confident and loving your self. That’s what you should be doing. Confident, is different from being an egotistical bitch always remember that.
  5. Strong personality: Letting everyone know who you are and not being sorry for it can make other women feel intimidated by you. Making it less likely for you to be invited to girls night out, or sleep overs.

If you’re a woman who possesses all of these qualities consider your self a predator and other females the prey. There’s absolutely no reason to feel bad about having desired traits, even if other females don’t like you. You will find a group of females who are just like you, that will uplift you and appreciate you just as much as you appreciate them.
