Rick Ross Releases New Album “Richer Than I Ever Been”

Well, the wait is over. Fans can now cop new music from Rick Ross, because he has released his new album, Richer Than I Ever Been. This marks his eleventh studio album, and it comes along with a video for his single “Outlawz”, featuring Jazmine Sullivan and 21 Savage.

Rick Ross Bringing What The Game Needs

Rick Ross is very proud of his new album and feels that it is his best one yet. While on The Bakari Sellers Podcast back in September, the rapper said “I make progress everyday. The words I use, the positions I’m in, the things I’m able to say. Some of the stuff I’m saying in the album gone separate this album from others. A lot of people are going to say “Rozay shouldn’t have did thaaaat.” I think I should. Why not? That’s what the game needs. I’m only going to bring what the game needs.

Richer Than I Ever Been

Rick Ross’s new album is a 12 track project. Some of the features on the album includes, Benny the Butcher, Wale, Future, Dream Doll, Wiz Khalifa, Yungeen Ace, Major Nine, Willie Falcon, and The-Dream. According to Rick Ross, there is a Ronald Isley feature that he mentioned prior to the album releasing is missing from the album. “We got in touch, and I got to send over some production I felt was ready for that Maybach Music Vll. We got the wordplay put down, and Ronald Isley did an amazing job, and took it to the next level. It was all about the production that I needed more time with.” While a Ronald Isley feature on the album would have been nice and a real treat for fans, I’m sure that fans will still enjoy the album. #FMSpotlight: Lil Zay Osama – ‘Trench Baby 2’ (Listen)

Lil Zay Osama is primarily known for penning lyrics that hit close to home. Oftentimes he speaks on losing loved ones, being betrayed, dealing with heartache, and keeping individuals at a distance. The rapper also reflects on personal experiences that left a bad taste in his mouth and his come up. With hard work and dedication, Lil Zay Osama has earned several accolades.

The themes mentioned make way in Trench Baby 2, the latter of Trench Baby. On his 11-track project, Lil Zay Osama doesn’t bite his tongue. He addresses opps and other people who talk negatively about him. Additionally, he explains how to become successful and happy.

Songs like “Okay” and “Needed You” see Lil Zay Osama at his most vulnerable.

Aside from reflecting on fallouts, he expresses his gratitude. Not only is he thankful to see another day, but he’s financially free and living his dream. Trench Baby 2 ultimately teaches listeners how to roll with the punches. After all, he’s living proof. The artists featured on his album include EST GEESean Kingston, Luh KelMook6340, and Benny the Butcher. Sonically, the project takes on various approaches to trap. They also carry a heavy bassline. Some beats are more upbeat and aggressive, while others take on a somber tone.

One standout record from Trench Baby 2 is “Okay,” which sees Lil Zay Osama reflecting on the past.

“Okay” is a melancholic trap offering that allows listeners to dive into Lil Zay Osama’s mentality. In just two minutes, the rapper speaks about his grandfather’s drug addiction, getting out the streets, and discovering his former girlfriend’s infidelity. Moreover, he gives others a raw look at street culture. While the street culture may be glorified in music and media, there is nothing pretty about it.

One notable excerpt goes,

“They wanna know what go down behind these street signs/Whole lotta blood shit and R.I.P signs/Man that shit happened so fast wish I could rewind/It been too much on my brain, I need some me time.”

About Lil Zay Osama:

Throughout 2020, Zay has touched fans with singles like “Loyalty,” which encapsulates the emotional impact of his heaviest songs.

In one half-sung couplet, he distills the callousness of Chicago street life. One of six children born to a single mother, Zay employed every hustle available to him growing up—selling newspapers, playing bucket drums, illicit grinds—to provide for himself and his family.

But though Zay was in the street early, he was in the studio well before. By the time he was a teen, he was a budding star in the early 2010s Chicago drill scene alongside compatriots like Chief Keef.

Zay dropped his celebrated and celebratory Hood Bible (2019) while glowing from signing to Warner Records, but his forthcoming project Trench Baby takes a different tack. He captures grief, trauma, and romantic heartbreak as much as he articulates the joy of survival.

Benny the Butcher will Executive-Produce Grafh’s Upcoming Album

Benny the Butcher confirmed on Twitter that he will be executive-producing Grafh’s upcoming album.

Its official release date is Oct. 10 and will be produced entirely by late Griselda mentor DJ Shay.

Grafh has less than 20,000 monthly Spotify listeners, but Benny the Butcher’s interest suggests his talents are appreciated by his peers.

This could be the opportunity Grafh needs for the mainstream eye to notice him and take his rap career to the next level.

Benny the Butcher Says ‘Tana Talk 4’ is on the Way

“The Butcher coming!”

Benny the Butcher has one of the most fitting taglines in Hip-Hop. Each year, Benny puts out multiple projects of consistently great quality. Proving that even though he’s been here to stay, he’s still always coming for us. His latest announcement has his core fans drooling at the mouth that ‘Tana Talk 4’ is on its way.

Griselda’s core three: Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, and Benny the Butcher

In a recent video of Benny leaving the studio at 5:20 am, he says that he’s routinely there that late, constantly recording. He wraps up the brief video by saying that ‘Tana Talk 4’ is in the works. Even more exciting, last year, Benny tweeted that when ‘Tana Talk 4’ drops, he’s throwing it into a double album with ‘Tana Talk 5.’ If this is still his plan, we are absolutely EATING.

As big of a promise this is to fill, The Butcher has been nothing if not reliable. Making up 1/3 of Griselda’s core trio, each member has an avalanche of a catalog in their fairly short careers.  However, if you combine all three of their discographies together, Benny’s 2018 project, ‘Tana Talk 3,’ is easily one of the highest quality among them.  TT3 is the essence of Griselda’s music and one of the best pieces of modern coke rap.

‘Tana Talk 3’ album cover

“Last year was about branding, this one about expanding”

Beyond TT3, Benny has been on a constant roll since. His 2019 EP, ‘The Plugs I Met‘ earned Griselda its most attention yet at the time. In 2020, he put out the unique and mature ‘Burden of Proof,’ following it up months later with 2021’s ‘The Plugs I Met 2.’ Each of these projects are absolutely quality, demonstrating that nobody can do it the way Benny does.

‘Burden of Proof’ album cover

Outside of his own projects, he’s become one of the most consistently awesome feature artists working with everybody from Freddie Gibbs to Denzel Curry. What truly sets him apart is his passion for putting on his friends. Within the past year, he’s helmed two projects for his crew in the Black Soprano Family. Furthermore, he constantly promotes coke rap brethren such as 38 Spesh and El Camino.

As Benny constantly elevates the culture, we can’t wait to see where he takes it with ‘Tana Talk 4’ and hopefully ‘Tana Talk 5.’

Jim Jones Wants All the Smoke With B.Dot’s Top 10 Rappers of 2021 List

“This list is cute.”

Diplomats co-founder Jim Jones aggressively shares his opinion on Brian “B.Dot” Miller’s “Top Rappers of 2021 so far” list.  Jones is confident that the top spot is his and not the #10 ranking he received.

The list is based on skill, performance, and presence throughout the year, hence Lil Baby at the top.  Next is J. Cole, fittingly, with Lil Wayne at third.  Conway the Machine and Benny the Butcher take the next two spots, followed by Drake.  Freddie Gibbs is #7 after being #1 on B.Dot’s 2020 list, trailed by Veterans Nas and Jay-Z.  And then there’s Jim Jones.

With many younger heads not knowing Jones, his inclusion on the list is honorable.  Understandably, he’s frustrated because he released an album this year while half the list has not.  The album, titled ‘The Fraud Department,’ is well received and is a  big indication of growth for Jones, not to mention having great production from Harry Fraud.

Jim Jones Harry fraud

“Let’s do it live, see who’s left standing.”

On Instagram, Jones claims he could best any of these MCs.  Lacking a current major presence, he’s confident that he’s at the top for his skill and lyricism, both of which are arguably more important.  The conviction of being the best rapper brings out the best in artists, so it looks like Jim Jones will be putting out more work in the ensuing years.

Beyond Jimmy, the list received widespread backlash, as every list does.  The universally agreed upon grievance was a lack of female MC’s.  Additionally, Conway and Benny stood up for the backlash, with Benny laughing about how he didn’t even write the list while Conway says he’s ready to prove to anybody why he deserves his spot.

Griselda

Though tension-inducing, these lists cause rappers to hit the booth harder than before. Whoever missed their spot on the list is determined to make it on B.Dot’s next one.  Do you agree with this list?  How do you feel about Jim Jones being on it?  Give ‘The Fraud Department‘ a listen and decide for yourself!

Lloyd Banks Releases First Album in Over 10 Years at Midnight

A True to Form Return Story

Lloyd Banks is officially back at midnight!  Having been somewhat absent from the rap scene for a full decade, Banks is releasing ‘Course of the Inevitable‘ on June 4th, 2021.

Given how long he’s been gone, he’s giving us a full course meal of 18 tracks.  As good of a rapper Banks is, he definitely needs some features to bring in new fans and the list does not disappoint.  There are some lesser known artists featured such as Sy Ari Da Kid, Vado, and Ransom but Banks pulls no punches with the big names.  Perfectly fitting his vibe, Roc Marciano, Styles P from The Lox, and Benny the Butcher are all on the first half of the record.  Most excitingly, Banks made the last minute call to add Freddie Gibbs to the third track, ‘Empathy.’  With exciting new names as well as established giants, we’re in for some truly dirty bars.

Well Deserved Fanfare

Though he has credit with many great producers, Banks prides himself on his inclusion of new young producers on the boards for ‘COTI.’  Some of these names include, Phil Jvckson, The Olympicks, and Alpha Betic, among others.  In fact, there’s a complete lack on name brand producers on this project entirely.  While this might make some apprehensive, we say its indicative of a fresh sound that will distinguish this among other gritty New York projects.

The promotion for the album also makes it clear that this is something special.  In the promo video, Rashan Brown delivers a beautiful spoken word over a black and white montage of NYC.  There are beautiful shots of neighborhoods, projects, the subway, and the mural of Big L, ending with Banks pulling his hood up.  The whole thing is gorgeous yet mysterious, emphasizing this LP as immersive and likely cinematic.

Though this is his first studio album since 2010’s ‘H.F.M. 2,’ Lloyd hasn’t been a complete ghost for the past 11 years.  He still grinded out plenty of mixtapes, most recently ‘Halloween Havoc 3: Four Days of Fury’ in 2016.  Banks also consistently brings it on features, plenty of which are from the recent decade.  His recent verse on Conway the Machine’s ‘Juvenile Hell,’ is notable for matching the likes of one of rap’s current heavyweights.

With little to no decrease of talent over the decade, a life of fatherhood, and a solid team assisting him, the hopes for Lloyd Banks’ return are high.  Watch the promo for the anticipated LP right here!

Benny The Butcher Shares Promising Update On Freddie Gibbs Joint Project

Benny The Butcher recently went on The Bootleg Kev Podcast to speak about his previous work and what fans can expect next. He unveiled to Bootleg Kev that he and Freddie Gibbs have talked about working on a collaborative album in the past. And from the sound of it, there may be a project coming soon from the duo.

“I feel like it’s gon’ happen,” he said, confirming that they’ve spoken about the collaborative project in the past.

He further explained that everything came together during the Grammys. But, due to one too many drinks, Gibbs couldn’t make it happen that night, at least not yet. Bootleg Kev also confirmed that Gibbs was under the influence, saying he was so drunk that he was dancing to Nelly at one point. “I’m gonna go tap back in about that, but we gon’ see,” Benny added. Given Freddie Gibb’s last album’s success, he and Gibbs have decided to have Alchemist behind the production.

This isn’t the first time that Benny Butcher has hinted at a collaborative project with Freddie Gibbs. During his time on Desus & Milo, he spoke about other projects that he’ll potentially be dropping soon, including a project with Conway.

“You might hear me and Spesh project. You might hear me and Gibbs project, me and Conway project. I’m staying in the studio and staying busy,” he said to Desus.

Do you think we’ll be getting that Benny The Butcher and Freddie Gibbs project soon? Feel free to let us know in the comment section.
