Next ‘Verzuz’ is Coming, Likely Big Daddy Kane Vs. KRS-One

The new ‘Verzuz’ event has been announced for October 17th. It’s probably not going to be 50 Cent Vs. T.I. However, viewers guess Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One are to perform.

On their Instagram, ‘Verzuz’ had published a poster with the upcoming event date and performers’ silhouettes. Fans of the show have reacted immediately, also posting their guesses about the silhouettes’ owners.

https://twitter.com/SameOldShawn/status/1444422028036034563?s=20

The silhouette conspiracy is topped by Big Daddy Kane’s words about KRS-One and wanting to battle with him. In 2019, Big Daddy Kane told Okayplayer that KRS-One’s “battle skills are incredible.”

“I’ve watched stuff that he’s done with other people he battled,” Big Daddy Kane said. “Direction-wise, I really respect his battle skills. If you want to go at it with someone, you want to go at it with the best. He’s one of the best-established artists who knows how to battle.”

‘Verzuz’ in the City

The upcoming ‘Verzuz’ is yet again happening in New York City. So did one of the previous events, which ended up with controversies.

During the event, Irv Gotti called out 50 Cent. While Fat Joe and Ja rule competed, Irv Gotti was commenting on the event’s stream. He claimed, “All y’all talking about that 50 sh_t.” Irv then added, “All good. He got beat up stabbed up. Shot up. And sued us. That’s all I’m gonna say. Your hero ain’t what you think he is. Period. And facts.”

Ja Rule also joined Irv later, stating that 50 would be nothing without Eminem.

In response, 50 Cent posted a series of pictures. In the photographs, 50 is wearing a suitdrinking cognac, and also smoking a cigar. The rapper also reminded in the comment section that “I put they whole label out of business, f_ck with me if you want to. I would stay out of my way if it wasn’t me. LOL.”

On top, Fat Joe called Vita and Lil Mo “dusty bitches.” They were brought by Ja Rule at the event’s stage at some point in the show. After a storm of various comments from all sides, Lil Mo eventually went on TMZ to talk about Fat Joe’s “vile” behavior.

Fat Joe Says No One Can Match Up With Busta Rhymes in Verzuz Battle

Rapper Fat Joe says everybody, including himself, is afraid to do a Verzuz battle with Busta Rhymes. Joe took to the mic in an Instagram video, shared on Sunday, to express his intimidation and respect for the rapper. With Busta Rhymes’ lyricism, flow, style, and creative presence within rapping, he is thought of as a difficult candidate to go up against. Fat Joe is very aware of what Busta can do on the mike. Joe even compared him to a boxer that everyone fears because he thinks that anyone that goes into a Verzuz battle with him will be knocked out. And Fat Joe isn’t wrong to be very careful in challenging Rhymes.

Giving Busta His Props

In an Instagram post of Fat Joe’s, he makes it evident going against Busta is not a good idea. He said:

“Busta Rhymes is gonna outrap, outperform anybody who goes up in a Verzuz with him. That’s a fact. Yo, Busta Rhymes, nobody wanna get in there with you, man. You might have to be an honorary – they gotta give you the check for no reason.”

Joe honors Busta by saying he’s a problem. Busta Rhymes has been in the rap game for 32 years now, making a huge impact in that time. He is one of few artists to have numerous Grammy nominations, but no wins. However, his music and live stage presence speaks for itself, regardless of awards.

Fat Joe’s Recent Verzuz

Earlier this year, Joe went up against Ja Rule in what was quite an eventful Versuz battle. He performed several of his classic hits and brought out other artists to join his performances as well. Both Ashanti and Remy Ma graced the stage with their presence to sing.

Most fans agree that Joe won the battle against Ja Rule. Nonetheless, Joe is a humble opponent, and wise about who he battles. He continues to market himself and inspire young artists while having the utmost respect for older ones. And his lack of desire to challenge Busta Rhymes proves his humility and respect.

Do you agree with Fat Joe, or do you think there’s a worthy opponent for Busta Rhymes out there? Let us know by interacting with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. We love to hear what you think!

Lil Mo Claimed Fat Joe’s Verzuz Battle Comments “Vile”

The Verzuz between Fat Joe and Ja Rule on Tuesday, Sept. 14 hit the fan. The newfound conflict between 50 Cent and Irv Gotti had followed up with Lil Mo and Vita responding to Fat Joe’s comments on social media. Further on, Lil Mo also went to talk with TMZ.

The context was a skirmish between Fat Joe and Ja Rule. During the Verzuz, Ja Rule suggested Fat Joe had to “bring Remy to save you” and claimed it “fucking pathetic.” In response, Fat Joe called Ja Rule’s special guests “dusty bitches” and assumed Ja Rule “had to go to the crack house to find them bitches (Lil Mo and Vita).”

The Social Media Response(s)

On Wednesday, both Vita and Lil Mo posted on social media responding to Fat Joe’s comments. Vita tagged Fat Joe’s profile and wrote that she “was wondering why U was apologizing to me last night N (Ja Rule).” She then asked in the text, “what you think Mo (Lil Mo) (Fat Joe) vs Rule or was it (Fat Joe) vs The Ladies.” Meanwhile, Lil Mo reminded Fat Joe that she’s “Not A #Bxtch nor am I Dusty!!! #StreetCODE Women and Children is off limits.”

Fat Joe eventually responded to both artists with Tweet comments on Instagram. Those comments included, “I’m super sorry I love you and vida I said sorry to your face before I left the building and to Vida I was caught in the moment and I’m super sorry God bless.” Lil Mo and Fat Joe also shared love, while Lil Mo even supposedly rewrote the initial confronting comment at her post to “What a beautiful night at the GARDEN everyone gave me my FLOWERS. NO MORE NEGATIVITY. It’s ONLY UP from here.”

However, on Thursday, Sept. 16, TMZ posted an article with Lil Mo’s interview. She called Fat Joe’s comments “vile” and “disrespectful.” At the end of the video, Lil Mo concluded that ‘”I never got a formal apology. You can’t tell me how I’m supposed to feel. I’m not looking for no Birkin bag but I know how the streets work. I don’t want it to go that way.”

Irv Gotti Gets At 50 Cent During Fat Joe & Ja Rule Verzuz

Past Verzuz between Fat Joe and Ja Rule attracted a lot of attention. Spectators on social media mainly watched and discussed the event itself, Ashanti’s and Nelly’s appearances. However, Irv Gotti and some parts of the audience have suddenly become concerned with 50 Cent.

Source: XXL.com

Irv is the co-founder of Murder Inc. At some point, the music label was hosting Ashanti, Ja Rule, with many other artists. The record label also had a conflict with 50 Cent.

While 50 was trending on Twitter, Irv commented, “All y’all talking about that 50 sh_t.” He then added, “All good. He got beat up stabbed up. Shot up. And sued us. That’s all I’m gonna say. Your hero ain’t what you think he is. Period. And facts.”

In response, 50 Cent posted a series of pictures. In the photographs, 50 is wearing a suit, drinking cognac, and smoking a cigar. At the comment section, the rapper also reminded that “I put they whole label out of business, f_ck with me if you want to. I would stay out of my way if i wasn’t me. LOL.”

Ja Rule then responded to 50 Cent as well, and claimed 50’s nothing without Eminem.

50 Cent vs Murder Inc.

Back in 2000, 50 Cent was shot 9 times. There were bullets in 50’s hand, arm, hip, both legs, chest, and left cheek. The rapper survived after 13 days of hospitalization. The same year, 50 Cent got accosted at the Hit Factory studios by Black Child, the Murder Inc.’s rapper. Murder Inc.’s other rapper Ja Rule allegedly found out about 50 Cent’s location at the Hit Factory when the accosting occurred.

In 2016, Irv Gotti published a then-deleted post on Instagram, where he accused 50 of being the snitch. Irv wrote that “At the bottom of it you will see THE INFORMANT CURTIS JACKSON. (50 Cent). Gave this Police Report.” He continued, “The Truth is he had an ORDER OF PROTECTION against myself. My brother Chris and my artist/n_gga BLACKCHILD. He left out [Ja] Rule for whatever reason. Although Rule set it on his b_tch ass 1st. The TRUTH is he then hit us with a lawsuit. I forgot what we paid him. Either $150,000 or 250,000 for whooping his ass.”

50 cent is currently working on a drama project for Starz, where Eminem also appears. Be sure to read more about it here.

Ashanti responds to Fat Joe’s “She’s hotter than ever,” Post.

Recently, Fat Joe threw a birthday party where Ashanti showed up dressed to impress. Fat Joe did not hold back his sentiments regarding long-term collaborator. Fat Joe posted what he precisely thought on the gram, according to Atlanta Black Star.

“When Ashanti came out that car. Jesus Christmas. I mean, what wasn’t she wearing. Holy s–t.”

Fat Joe was obviously impressed.

And maybe also he was a little concerned that Ashanti’s sexy fit wouldn’t last her entire performance of Foolish. And he made it known that he felt she had never looked better, according to the Atlanta Black Star.

Joe and Ashanti are long-time collaborators.

But the pair-up wasn’t initially purposeful. Fat Joe and Ashanti go back to 2001, where they worked together on the track “What’s Luv?” The track turned out to be a hit, peaking at number two on the charts, according to Billboard. However, in a 2020 Instagram live chat, Joe revealed that “What’s Luv?” wasn’t initially meant for her, to Ashanti’s surprise, according to Billboard. However, things worked out. And the two have been good, in fact. Ashanti has made it known that she sees Joe as a brother.

Digging it!

Ashanti was not at all taken back by what Fat Joe had to say. She was instead digging the hype. In fact, Ashanti reposted Joe’s Instagram post and responded in kind. According to Eniola Lasaki tooxclusive.com contributor,

“Reacting to this, Ashanti wrote, If your brother don’t hype u up like this he’s trash!!!. Love u, bro!!!! I am f##### cryinnnnnnnnnnnngg @fatjoe.

Fat Joe’s Birthday was a star-studded event.

Quite a few of hip-hop fame and royalty showed up. Some of the guests to come to celebrate included Remy Ma, Papoose, Busta Rhymes, and N.O.R.E. It was quite an event, and Fat Joe’s reaction was one of the highlights of the evening. And according to Atlanta Black Star, others were entirely in agreement with Joe’s statement. One individual had this to say, “& there’s no lie in what he said because you understood the assignment..came..and showed out! Body was the topic..& you were IT baybeeee.”

Fat Joe’s Album Vanishes from Streaming Platforms

On August 23, just ten days after the release of Fat Joe’s Album, What Would Big Do 2021? fans were still scratching their heads. Sources note the album vanished into thin air only a few days into its release. And despite any scouring of the streaming platforms, What Would Big Do 2021? did not exist. Undoubtedly this left fans in a state of confusion; it is atypical for an album to be released and a week and a half later totally vanish into thin air.

Fat Joe and the album

Fat Joe’s highly anticipated What Would Big Do 2021? was released to streaming platforms on August 13. And the album was so hot that fans could not help but vibe with the artists.  In fact, One Worth Listening contributor had this to say about the Fat Joe release, “’What Would Big Do 2021?’ is arguably one of Fat Joe’s most cohesive projects to date. The project includes replay-worthy tracks….”

And so it was unsurprising that fans were shocked when the project had gone missing. Inarguably, few would disagree that the disappearance of the album was a disappointment. The album had some of the greatest names in hip-hop attached to it to include, but not limited to, Remy Ma, CeeLo Green, and French Montana.

What happened?

The word is the release was a type of test project. And unfortunately, some of the tracks included samples that weren’t exactly cleared. So, the album had to be taken down. And It was Skates Beats that laid it out for those who were wondering. According to Skate:

“Out of the other seven songs, we [The Mercenaries] did four of the seven songs, and we knew what we were sampling was not going to get cleared–like we were sampling Prince and Michael.”

So to avoid issues, the album disappeared from streaming platforms.

Listeners agree that the album was a great demonstration of Fat Joe’s skill. But, for now, only two of the tracks of the album are available on Youtube.  But with hopes, fans will see more of Fat Joe’s work in the future.

To find about some other Hip Hop samples that had a major impact, check out our retrospective article.

Biz Markie’s Emotional and Beautiful Funeral

The music world is still mourning the passing of legendary MC Biz Markie. His funeral was just the other day, and as beautiful as it was, it’s still so hard to say goodbye to a man like Biz.

Since Biz touched the hearts of just about everybody, he had a tremendous showing the service.  Some of his best celebrity friends ended up giving eulogies. Including, but not limited to, his DJ Cutmaster Cool V, Roxanne Shante, and a particularly memorable speech from Rev. Al Sharpton.

PC: David Corio

Biz was more than “Just a Friend…”

Though they didn’t speak, plenty of other celebrities were in attendance. Maseo, Redman, Ice T, Fat Joe, and, of course, Big Daddy Kane all came through, among others.

The most heartwarming speech, without question, came from his widow, Tara Davis-Hall. As jovial a wife as he deserved, she gave a very loving tribute that would make any stranger to him tear up. Much like his role in the culture, Tara said she loved him so much he could make her and anybody else laugh at any moment while being loving and caring at all times.

Biz with his wife and daughter

To top everything all off, the beloved MC’s body was sent out in style.  Designed by Gucci’s Dapper Dan, his final outfit is a custom gold suit, something that brilliantly suits his personality.

A legendary artist, friend, wife, and father, we will miss the clown prince of Hip-Hop forever.  Rest in peace, Biz.

Fat Joe Defends Comments About DJ Khaled

Fans Were Not Happy When Fat Joe Compared DJ Khaled to the Great Quincy Jones

This past weekend, Fat Joe went on the Drink Champs podcast to discuss “The Fat Joe Show,” among other things. In the podcast, he speaks on DJ Khaled’s success in working with many high-level celebrities. “Well, he just gets a bunch of big-time rappers and puts them on the same song. There’s a million DJs and producers that try that, and those ain’t hit records,” said Joe on the Drink Champs podcast. “… So DJ Khaled really is the Quincy Jones of hip-hop right now.”

DJ Khaled

Fans were quick to respond to this claim, arguing the validity of the comparison. Fans were not susceptible to the idea that DJ Khaled could compare to the many accomplishments of Quincy.

“Khaled is more like the ‘corner store owner in the hood’ of hip hop…”

– Harry Knucklez ♌ (@Harry_Knucklez) 5/14/2021

Fat Joe was quick to respond to the fan backlash. He responded with “All these back seat drivers Monday morning quarterbacks always got an opinion but can’t do it themselves sh*t crazy.” Since his relationship with Khaled is strong, it is clear that Fat Joe does not have much regard for the fan response, and stands by his opinions. Joe claimed that Quincy was just a reference to the work Khaled has released, rather than a side-by-side comparison of achievements.

Quincy Jones

Quincy Jones has a long history of playing, writing, composing, award-winning, and more. Because of this, it is clear to see why the DJ Khaled comparison is off to many people. Twitter users listed out many different artists and producers from this generation that would be better comparisons to the great Quincy Jones. These included Kanye, RZA, Skateboard P, and more. DJ Khaled has reached great success in the field and has many accomplishments. Despite this, it is clear that his accomplishments just don’t stack up next to Quincy.
