Jada Pinkett Smith Sparks Curiosity

Jada Pinkett Smith has once again caused a stir on the internet, leaving her followers wondering about her current state. According to sources, she left a cryptic and somewhat enigmatic message before making her social media account private. While the message seemed to have a positive message, it also left many questions unanswered and open for speculation.

Jada Pinkett Smith’s Career

Jada, known widely for her accomplishments in the entertainment industry, has firmly established herself as an individual outside of any associations. Before marrying Will Smith, Jada was working to become a notable figure in the entertainment industry, a point that many forget. The pair did not cross paths until 1994 on the set of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

Smith’s career began in 1990 when she first appeared in the series “True Colors. Before appearing on “The Fresh Prince, she had already spent several years as a cast member on “A Different World.”

During her two-year tenure and 47 episodes on “A Different World, Smith had become an established character known for her snarky wit.  And this was not the only role that made her a well-known name in the industry. Smith also became known for her roles in “Jason’s Lyric,“The Matrix, and “The Nutty Professor, to name a few. Nevertheless, critics have made it a point to diminish some of these accomplishments, claiming that Pinkett Smith’s success is largely due to her marriage to Will Smith.

Challenging Double Standards

The multitalented individual has recently made statements that give the impression that these erroneous perceptions may underlie her recent cryptic post.  In a recent Instagram post, she is reported as stating,

“Men are praised for choosing to commit to someone, while women are expected to belong to someone or deemed unworthy.”

Within the framework of this discussion, the remark emphasizes the inherent value of women, highlighting the fact that they are important in and of themselves. They don’t need to be connected to anything or anyone for them to have value; the fact that they exist is sufficient to establish their worth.

Navigating Identity

There is a lack of clarity on whether these words are reflective of Jada’s feelings over how people perceive her beyond her connection to Will Smith and her efforts to develop her identity external to marriage. One might assume that this is the case based on the criticism the artist has received in the past for disclosing her truth before and after the publication of her memoir.

As reported by The Root, Jada has faced backlash for sharing personal details about her life and marriage, including her relationship with Tupac Shakur and the challenges she has navigated in sharing her personal experiences. Despite promising to take control of her narrative when releasing her book, many did not support or commend her. Some had even harsher opinions on how she should handle her truth.

Smith Goes Dark: Silences Social Media

After her Instagram post, Smith unexpectedly went quiet, turning her settings to private.

Undoubtedly, this is the action that sent many thoughts reeling. Why would someone make such a forceful statement and go quiet without explanation? Perhaps one look at her encouraging stance gives an adequate explanation. She succinctly reminds others not to let fear keep them bonded. This is a truth that is applicable across the board.

Jada Pinkett Smith: Embraces Intrinsic Worth

At times, individuals need to be reminded of their intrinsic worth, regardless of external associations. This is a message Jada Pinkett Smith has endeavored to share with the world for some time. When it seems like no one is listening, sometimes you have to speak your truth, exit stage left, and surround yourself with those who understand. If there is more to say, Smith will surely come back and say it. As for Jada Pinkett Smith, transparency has been a big part of her path, from her “Red Table Talk to her memoir “Worthy. There is no reason to believe that this will change.

African Queens Ground-Breaking Netflix Series Narrated By Jada Pinkett Smith

Netflix began streaming a powerful and spell-binding series narrated by Jada Pinkett Smith, African Queens on February 15, and it is a jewel.

What is African Queens?

African Queens is a rare and in-depth look at Africa’s often overlooked royals. It is a recreation of a retelling of the narrative of the most powerful, bold, fearless, and beautiful women who ruled in the great continent of Africa. It is told through the voices of scholars and historians, and its dramatized for greater effectiveness. While the lens is trained on the narrative of the queen, it examines the whole of her surroundings. African Queens examines the culture, political structure, customs, and practices of those who are her people. It is a selection that exquisitely showcases so much of Africa, the regality of the leaders, the innovativeness, societal structure, and the raw and natural gloriousness of the land they inhabit. However, it does so without sacrificing some of the uglier truths. Instead, it gives a robust perspective offering context while educating its viewers.

The Project

Jada Pinkett Smith not only narrates the moving docu-series, but she also serves as Executive Producer. However, it is told from an African perspective. According to iAfrica, African Queens is written by Kenyan-born storyteller Peres Owino and British diplomat NneNne Iwuji. This project comes via Smith’s Westbrook Studios and independent film studio Nutopia. However, for Smith, this series is a passion project, a means to educate and empower. According to iAfrica, “Pinkett, who was a key force behind the project, has cited the imperative nature of reviving these stories of African female leadership to empower today’s young, black women.” While it does much to empower female viewership, it is an offering that inspires the whole community.

Queen Njinga (Nzinga)

The segment now streaming focuses on Queen Njinga of Ndongo. And it retells her story so that the world will not only know her name but remember her legacy and impact. As iAfrica cites, “Queen Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba came to a position of power during the 17th century, when she ruled over Angola and fought off Portuguese settlers., a feat worthy of the annals of history.

Hip-Hop and the Promotion

Hip-hop is a culture, a movement, a complex structure held up by multiple pillars. There are four basic tenants or pillars, or in some circles, classed as elements that some hip-hop scholars define as language. And those languages are breakdance, rap, deejaying, and graffiti. While these are the primary pillars, they are not the only pillars. According to an article by Midnation, there are rather nine pillars. One of those remaining five pillars includes knowledge. Midnation notes, “In the book The Fifth Element of Hip Hop Knowledge, Travis L. Gosa affirms that knowledge is the fifth fundamental pillar of this culture. Without it, the other elements would not be cohesive.”

So as a celebration of hip-hop and black history, FM Hip Hop aims to uphold the pillars of spreading and sharing a wealth of information that informs the populace and promotes, uplifts, and advances the culture.

In Conclusion

For those interested in a cultural exploration of kingdoms and rulers of the great African continent and the empires that stretched across that land, tune in to African Queens.

Jada Pinkett-Smith to Detail Life in “No Holds Barred,” Memoir.

Everyone has a story, and Jada Pinkett-Smith is detailing her story in a soon-to-be-released memoir.

Drama Drama Everywhere

Jada Pinkett-Smith is pure gold when it comes to the media. The drama surrounding Pinkett-Smith and her family has provided enough content to keep tongues wagging for years. But, predicated on the events of the last few years, one thing has become clear, she and Will do not merely make the news; they own it. So, in Smith fashion today, Jada holds the spotlight with an exciting new development.

Jada, the Industry Darling

When it comes to the entertainment world, Jada is right at home. Pinkett-Smith has been in the industry for three unbelievable decades. And within those decades, she has worked her magic, building a name for herself project by project. This was eventually underscored by the megastar’s 2019 MTV Trailblazer accomplishment.

However, such is not unexpected. Performing arts courses through her veins. Before Jada ever stepped foot on a sound stage, she attended the Baltimore School for the Arts with a major in dance and choreography. It was there that she would not only nourish her talent but build an abiding friendship with the late Tupac Shakur.

Her Gift Makes Room for Her

Jada’s formal studies were short-lived, as she left college to pursue a career as an actress. Jada got her first break in 1991 on the collegiate drama “Different World.” And a mere two years after, she was introduced to the world through film in “Menace II Society.”

The rest, as the world knows it, is history. As an actress, Pinkett-Smith has since accumulated 49 credits under her name. And she has gone on to prove her depth of talent through writing, directing, and producing. But it was in 2018 that the mega-talent entered an entirely different space introducing the heart-to-heart series “Red Table Talk.”

Owning the Conversation

Jada aimed to shape the narrative with her new show, revealing herself to the world as she most saw fit. However, despite her transparency, it did not squelch rumors or quiet chatter. She and her family remained the topic of conversation. It didn’t matter if the news was mired in gossip; people talked about her parenting, relationship with Will, friendship with Tupac, and her medical condition. However, Jada seemed to deal with the pressures with a fair amount of grace.

Oscar Gate 2022

Things came to a head at the 2022 Oscars. Will Smith set the media ablaze with his intense reaction to an impromptu Joke with Jada as the subject. Although Will and Chris Rock were in the vortex of the media flurry, the spotlight quickly swung back in her direction. Once again, Pinkett-Smith cloaked herself with the utmost grace and maturation as she addressed the issue on her platform.

With Jada, Vulnerability Is Her Name

While Jada certainly owes no one further access to her life, she continues to choose the path of vulnerability. And according to October 6 press releases, Pinkett-Smith will now share more intimate details of her life through a memoir which, as Carrie Thorton, Editorial Director, notes,

“is Jada giving the world her truth, taking readers on a journey from lost girl to woman warrior.”

More on the Memoir

Yahoo notes that the memoir will open the public to details she has never exposed. The book will dive into her friendship with Tupac. And it will also explore topics dear to her, such as her upbringing and motherhood. But this book is beyond the typical memoir. It is soul work. According to People,

“At the heart of this powerful book are two unexpected love stories, one, Jada’s complicated marriage to Will Smith, and the other the one with herself.”

Early critics define the memoir as a “no holds barred” account.

So, for fans who can’t get enough of Jada Pinkett-Smith or are interested in the reflective soul journey of an enterprising and successful woman, the book will drop in 2023.

The Academy Bans Will Smith For 10 Years; He Responds Respectfully

The Academy reprimanded Will Smith for his Oscars slap incident with comedian Chris Rock.

After the disciplinary hearing, which West Coast rapper The Game strongly opposed, The Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences announced on Friday (Apr. 8) that the King Richard actor, who assaulted Chris Rock at the 94th Oscars awards show, will be banned for ten years from all Academy events including the Oscars.

Will Smith Remains Eligible For Awards Despite His Ban

Variety reports that Will Smith, who resigned from The Academy on Apr. 1, will likely keep his Best Actor Oscar. This award is for his performance in the biopic on Serena and Venus Williams’ father, Richard Williams. Smith is safe from sanctions because the Oscars do not have the legal authority to take action. Therefore, after the ban goes into effect on Apr. 8, Smith will still be eligible to receive nominations and win Oscars in the future.

Furthermore, Will Smith reportedly responded in a statement saying, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.”

The actor, who described his emotional state as “Heartbroken,” received criticism from several celebrities for his slap on Chris Rock. The slap responded to a joke Rock made about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.

In a recent interview with Drink Champs, Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky expresses disappointment in Will Smith regarding how he handled a disagreement with a fellow Black man.

“I’m a fan of Will, Jada, Chris, all of them. They OGs,” Rocky said, as seen in the clip posted to Instagram. “I think it’s unfortunate that, like, he emasculated another Black man in front of all them people like that. But I do think that, like, it’s some built-up shit that probably wasn’t really targeted at Chris Rock. I don’t know. … Like what you said, it seems like it’s more than just a G.I. Jane joke.”

Commentary From Chris Rock’s Brother, Tony Rock, Concerning The Incident At The Academy

In addition, at the premiere of his documentary Still Rolling Papers, Wiz Khalifa also attempted to make light of the situation. However, he warned audience members not to approach the stage or risk getting shot for running upon him.

Moreover, Tony Rock, Chris Rock’s brother, commented on the event during a recent stand-up performance. He said if he had been present at the Oscars, he would have been unable to maintain his composure.

“If you think you going to walk up on this stage, this ain’t the muthaf**king Oscars!” Tony Rock said. “And if you walk your a*s up here, you ain’t nominated for sh*t but these muthaf**king hands! Oh, we going to pop the rest of the year, n**ga. Every time you see me do a show, pop!”

He continued,

“You gonna hit my muthaf**king brother because your bi**h gave you a side-eye?”

August Alsina Shuts Down Rumors of Tell-All Book

When it comes to August Alsina, the rumor mill keeps churning. This time rumor had it the young artist was in the process of penning a tell-all about his and Jada’s entanglement. So naturally, news outlets ate it up. So today, Alsina speaks his truth.

Alsina Back in The Spotlight

News of Will’s Slap is now global news, much like the breaking of Jada’s and Alsina’s entanglement. Will Smith has had to bear the brunt of both despite the lack of correlation. At face value, Will’s actions at the Oscars and the airing of their relationship drama do not bear a direct connection. However, Alsina has popped back into the spotlight post Oscars. Coincidence or not?

Alsina Shuts Down Rumors

Alsina first offered his sentiments in a social media post where he came off positively optimistic yet cryptic. On the heels of his response to the cascading events came the rumor of a possible tell-all. Although seemingly out of alignment with his earlier post, there was still speculation. Alsina felt it appropriate to shut it down quickly. His initial comments read,

“What would be the need to write a book about my supposed ‘sex life’ with ANYBODY, EVER, in life?”

He has a valid point. But unfortunately, in current times, sensationalism is a big deal.

In Perfect Alignment

It’s safe to say that Alsina is trying to align his statements with the persona he’s attempting to build.

“Lastly, why would one look to make that ‘type’ of money, eating from the lowest fruit, when God’s promise is GREAT HARVEST? I’m God’s very OWN, so HE makes me RICH! & Not just in spirit. Be blessed. -King SiNA’.

If what he says is true, that is a beautiful thing. But, given the release of a recent track, “Shake the World,” that addresses the entanglement, it’s hard to say how truthful he’s being. Only time will tell what is true and what is not. For now, all the public has to lean on is Alsina’s word.

Ja Rule Reacts To Will Smith’s Oscar Slap After The Resurfacing Of An Old Dave Chappelle Video

On Monday (Mar 28), comedian Dave Chappelle became a trending topic for an old joke he made about Ja Rule. Chappelle recalls seeing the Murder Inc. rapper on MTV around the time the World Trade Center collapsed by terrorists in 2001.

In addition, Chappelle asked Ja Rule what he thought of the horrific act of terror. However, Rule was evidently of the opinion that it was absurd.

“I remember right around September 11, Ja Rule was on MTV,” Chappelle says in a video clip circulating online. “They said, ‘We got Ja Rule’ on the phone. Let’s see what Ja’s thoughts are on this tragedy.’ Who gives a f**k what Ja Rule thinks at a time like this, n***a? This is ridiculous! I don’t wanna dance. I’m scared to death!”

Ja Rule Responds To His Fans In An Amusing Manner

Additionally, the clip was connected to the recent controversy surrounding Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 94th Annual Academy Awards. In addition, fans questioned, “Where is Ja?” Similarly, Ja Rule answered their call and appeared on Twitter shortly after that with the message: “Slapping season is OFFICIALLY in session…”

Moreover, the incident occurred on Sunday night (Mar 27). The Oscars were also playing. Furthermore, a confused crowd watched Will Smith walk up to Chris Rock and hit him across the face in the middle of his duties. Nonetheless, he found a G.I. Jane joke that Rock told concerning the bald head of Jada Pinkett offensive.

Celebrities Join In On The Controversy

Naturally, the internet exploded with memes and reactions at their expense. Celebrities such as 50 CentSnoop DoggOffset, and The Game all joined in.

“I feel you will smack the SH*T out of one of you n**gas bout my wife on national tv,” the Migos rapper tweeted. “Will Smith the greatest to do it.”

Will Smith Apologizes

In the end, Smith apologized for attacking Chris Rock onstage after the incident. Nevertheless, he acknowledges that he acted inappropriately but condemns violence in general.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” Smith also wrote in part. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I am embarrassed, and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Dame Dash Calls Will Smith A “Villain,” Who “Lost Control Of His Emotions”

The 2022 Academy Awards was a night of glamour and immense controversy involving Will Smith and Chris Rock. Now, New York icon Dame Dash is offering a different perspective on Oscars.

The Slap That Stopped The World

The Oscars took place earlier this week (Mar 27). The event also brought several highlights. A bright neon performance from Beyonce and a Disney rendition of Megan Thee Stallion is just a couple of examples. However, nothing compared to the physical confrontation between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

During a segment of the award show featuring comedian Chris Rock, a joke was made involving Jada Pinkett Smith. The quip was later revealed as an adlib and focused on Smith’s shaved head. For anyone who’s not aware, Jada is currently suffering from alopecia. Her clearly pained facial expression said it all.

“Jada, I love you. “G.I. Jane 2,” can’t wait to see it,” Rock laughed.

Before anyone could realize what was happening, Will Smith made his way to the stage and proceeded to slap Rock in the face. The King Richard star then returned to his seat and yelled profanities at the comic.

“Keep my wife’s name out your f——— mouth!” he yelled, much to everyone’s shock and disbelief. Take a look at the full video of the incident below:

Dame Dash Gets Psychological About Oscars

Of course, the entirety of social media was quick to react to the slap. Reactions are polar, with some believing the attack was unwarranted and deserving of backlash and others understanding Will’s protectiveness. Regardless of your take, a world-class actor hitting someone on live television is quite the event.

In the days following the Oscars, celebrities have started to share their thoughts. Unlike social media platforms, the general consensus amongst celebs is that Will simply went too far. Big names in Hollywood like Jim Carey and Wanda Sykes have called the slap “sickening” and “traumatizing.” Unfortunately, Dame Dash seems to fully agree.

In the exclusive Page Six report from earlier this week (Mar 29), Dash revealed his thoughts on Smith’s situation. “I will tell you this, ten years ago, five years ago, one year ago, if I ever heard that Will Smith got up and smacked somebody, I would not believe it,” he said.

He continued, “It’s almost like when a superhero turns into a villain or when a wrestler goes from being a good guy to the bad guy. It is almost seen as the shift of Will Smith. It is like he’s sick of being a good guy, I guess. Will is tired of being a punk, and he exploded, and Chris Rock got it.”

“It’s also internalizing a lot of trauma that he didn’t recognize, and he overreacted to other things that bothered him, so more than likely, I could say he could use a little therapy because he lost control of his emotions,” he analyzed.

The East Coast music exec finished with an interesting sentiment. “The world is a different place. I know if that was me and Kanye, I would’ve walked out in cuffs, and Kanye would’ve walked out in a straight jacket.”

Is Everything Good With The Smiths?

Dame Dash’s Oscars’ take about unresolved trauma may have some validity. Recently, the Smiths have been heavily in the news, not necessarily for a good reason. Back in July 2020, RnB singer, August Alsina revealed via song that he had a prior sexual relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith. The couple released an episode of Red Table Talk discussing the affair at length to get ahead of the story. Although the situation is in Will’s rearview mirror, it’s likely been weighing on him heavily. In addition to this, Jada has mentioned late rapper Tupac Shakur fondly several times. It’s widely known the two Baltimore natives had an extremely close friendship, but some believe it led to a secret romance. Those rumors were all but confirmed in the 53-year-olds memoir titled Will.

“In the beginning of our relationship, my mind was tortured by their connection,” he wrote. “He was ‘PAC! and I was me … though they were never intimate, their love for each other is legendary.”

The actor still has to confirm if either of those factors played a part in his escalating to violence. What do you think of the fateful slap? Was it deserved or misdirected energy?

Nicki Minaj Shares Thoughts On Will Smith and Chris Rock Altercation

Nicki Minaj is a lot more active musically & online this year compared to the past few. Naturally, she is just as aware of Will’s attack on Chris Rock at the Academy Awards last Sunday (March 27th). Nicki shared her thoughts on the situation on Twitter yesterday (March 28th) & displayed a lot of insight into her reasonings. She fully supports Will & Jada Pinkett Smith’s side of the situation, while still showing love to Chris Rock. Ultimately, Will slapped Chris Rock in the face due to a poor joke made by the legendary comedian & award host about his wife Jada. The joke aimed at Jada’s hair loss which Chris clearly did not know was because she has “alopecia”.

Why Nicki Minaj Supports Will’s Action

Some people are not fans of Will’s viral attack the other night. Nicki seems to have the opposite take & makes very valid points about sticking up for someone you love. It showcases some of the morals Nicki Minaj values in men (and people in general). Here are some of her other tweets detailing the celebrity perspective/point of view:

Jim Carrey Is Turned Off By Will Smith’s Applause After The Oscars Incident

Jim Carrey has a message for Hollywood. The Canadian actor spoke with CBS Gayle King on Sunday evening about the drama involving Will Smith and Chris Rock during the 94th Academy Awards.

Jim Carrey Gives His Thoughts

“I was sickened by the standing ovation,” The Mask actor told King. Carrey discussed how the audience applauded Will for winning the Best Actor award mere minutes after he slapped the comedian. “I felt like Hollywood is just spineless en masse.”

King explained that anyone other than Smith may be led out of the building or arrested after hitting someone else. In Carrey’s opinion, the Gemini Mani star “should have been,” but Rock did not wish to take legal action.

“If you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter [that’s fine]. You do not have the right to smack somebody in the face because they said words,” adding that Smith’s choice was “a selfish moment that cast a pall over the whole thing,” as HuffPost notes.

Jim adds, “[The slap] came out of nowhere because Will has something going on inside him that’s frustrated,” the Sonic the Hedgehog star concluded. “I wish him the best. I have nothing against Will Smith. He’s done great things, but that was not a good moment.”

What Caused The Incident?

During Chris Rock’s time on stage, he took a minute to acknowledge Jada Pinkett Smith, who was in the audience sporting a shaved head. “Jada, I love ya,” he began. “GI Joe 2, can’t wait to see it,” Rock added, making an offensive joke for the actresses’ sake.

She didn’t seem impressed by the Grown Ups actor’s comments. However, Will initially laughed, but cameras caught him approaching the stage and striking him shortly afterward.

Are you of the opinion that Chris Rock should sue Will Smith, or is Will Smith’s apology post sufficient to move on from the situation?
