Diddy Takes Stance Against Triller Amid Verzuz Lawsuit

Diddy has chosen to stand against Triller after the recent lawsuit by Verzuz creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. On Thursday, Diddy argued that the hip hop community should boycott Triller until the suit is settled and fair compensation has been reached. According to reports, Timbo and Swizz claim that Triller owes them $28 million.

Puff went on Instagram to clarify his stance on the lawsuit after mistaking Triller for Verzuz in a previous Live.

“When me and [Jermaine Dupri] were talking about Verzuz, I mistakenly said Verzuz instead of Triller,” he said. “So to clarify it, we’re not f*****g with Triller until they take care of Swizz and Tim for Verzuz.”

Diddy went on to repeat the message: “Nobody f***s with Triller until they take care of Tim and Swizz because Tim and Swizz is Verzuz. Am I being clear?”

Diddy’s announcement came after a conversation with Jermaine Dupri on the current state of R&B. As a result, the two agreed to have a song-for-song battle that wouldn’t be associated with Verzuz so that Triller could not capitalize from the matchup.

“Since we ain’t f*****g with Verzuz no more ’cause they f*****g around with our boys, we don’t need to be going against each other,” Puff said. “let’s come together and do that Bad Boy, So So Def in Atlanta. It ain’t no Verzuz, it’s just hit for hit.”

No definitive date has been set for the showdown between Diddy and JD.

The lawsuit between Triller and Verzuz

As mentioned, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have filed a $28 million suit against Triller. Per TMZthe two Hip Hop legends claim that the video-sharing service failed to uphold the financial end of their deal. Court documents show that Triller defaulted after only two payments.

The Genesis of Verzuz

Swizz and Timbo started Verzuz in 2020 as a way to lighten the mood during quarantine. In March 2021, Triller acquired Verzuz and incorporated it into the Triller Network. As part of the deal, the two producers joined Triller to oversee its music department.

Triller responded to the accusations, claiming that the two have collected nearly $50 million in cash from the sale. News of the lawsuit broke on Tuesday night, with no word on if it will proceed to court.

Jermaine Dupri Says Diddy Can’t Do Verzuz With No Support From Bad Boys

Tension has been rising between Jermaine Dupri and Diddy. There have been talks about the two versing each other in a potential Verzuz battle.

Diddy Dupri beef
Dupri believes Diddy stands no chance against him in Verzuz.

On Wednesday, January 5th, Dupri made an appearance on the most recent episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast where he shut down the idea of taking on Puff. He points out that some of Puff’s greatest hits are collaborations with other artists which include artists who are either dead like The Notorious B.I.G. or who are no longer on good terms with him such as Ma$e.

Mal asked if the heavyweight bout will happen, JD stated, “I don’t think so… Because I feel like it’s a performance-based thing now and the majority of Puff’s records, who’s gonna perform? Yeah, [you can bring out] The LOX, but you can’t have nobody do Big’s verses! And I don’t know that Ma$e would come out with him no more, so I don’t think that it would happen based on that.”

As Dupri’s collaborators include Usher, Bow Wow, and Da Brat, he stands on his belief that he can outlast Puff in the Verzuz ring. Unlike JD, Puff may struggle to get support from his former Bad Boy artists.

“All my people, we rockin’! And we coming’ with a whole lot of energy!”

He continued, “Puff and anybody else that thinks about this battle, they try to downplay the Bow Wow era. When we get into the 2001, 2002, 2003 era of So So Def, I don’t know that Bad Boy was even in existence… I never seen a Bad Boy record No. 1 on 106 & Park.” He added, “The Emancipation of Mimi came out in 2007. People be forgetting about that whole little patch of records. I’m telling you, I don’t give a fuck what nobody say; Puff Daddy ain’t got nothing for 2007 — not on Bad Boy!”

Jermaine Dupri challenged Diddy to a Verzuz battle back in September.

While Diddy turned down his offer, stating, “Your arms too short to box with God”, the two got into some beef on Instagram Live. Puff says “What are you going to do when Biggie’s ‘One More Chance’ drops?”

It doesn’t seem like we’re going to see the pair battle any time soon. However, FM Hip Hop will keep you updated as the internet wonders who will be taking on each other in the Verzuz’s.

Diddy Snubs Jermaine Dupri, Claims He Would Smash Him in a Verzus Battle

Sean Combs, commonly known as Diddy, clapped back against comments from Jermaine Dupri, claiming Jermaine doesn’t have enough hits to compete against him in a Verzuz battle. The producer replied to Jermaine’s tweet at him, where Jermaine stated Diddy “gon need some training for me.”

Though fans would love to see a battle between the two producers, Diddy previously cited Dr. Dre as the only opponent he’d consider going head-to-head with. Dupri challenged Diddy during the Verzuz battle between Fat Joe and Ja Rule at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.

Diddy’s Scathing Response

The New York rapper responded, stating:

“Beloved you my n*gga but your arms too short to box with God!!! You aint got enough hits. I’ll smash you with just biggie n Mary . But I do have the upmost respect on you as a musical legend. Dre the only one can get in the ring w me . – LOVE.”  The New York rapper responded.

Some fans felt some type of way about Diddy’s claims, and were quick to point out that Jermaine has production credits for artists such as Xscape and Bow Wow.  He has also produced records for industry giants like TLC, Da Brat, and Mariah Carey.

Jermaine Dupri snubbed by Diddy after Verzus challenge

Other fans worry that the 51-year-old rapper turned business mogul may have bitten more than he can chew by challenging Dr. Dre to a Verzuz battle.

It’s unclear whether Verzuz organizers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland will actually bring Dr. Dre to perform against Diddy or not. If it happens, it would be the most anticipated battle since R&B legends Brandy and Monica competed back in August 2020.

Rapper T.I., chiming in on the issue, compared Diddy’s response to 50 Cent’s attitude towards a potential Verzus between  himself and T.I.

“I disagree. Side note: Why do I feel NY n*ggaz (Most of which I love, look up to, appreciate and respect)always feel like they so much above competition with their Atlanta (southern)constituents???? @50Cent ducking me the same way.”

#FMTrends: Jermaine Dupri speaks on Outkast and Female Hip Hop

Jermaine Dupri Says He is More Influential than Outkast and Calls Today’s Female Rap Scene “Stripper Rap”

Jermaine Dupri had 2 interviews last week and people wanted to shoot him out of a cannon. First, he always had stated that he had a bigger influence on Atlanta Hip Hop over Outkast. Outkast slander in general is almost blasphemous and JD doubled down on his take. Then to further piss the world off, he sounded off on today’s female rap scene. He said they all sound like strippers. It might look like JD reached the Quincy Jones point in his career where he lets everything fly and doesn’t care what we think.

Jermaine Dupri vs. Outkast

Outkast is one the biggest duos in Hip Hop history. Dupri gave us Kriss Kross, Da Brat and Dem Franchise Boyz. He has collaborated with Usher, Mariah Carey, Bow Wow and Janet Jackson. So So Def Intern No I.D and Dupri contributed to Jay-Z’s American Gangster. Outkast’s impact is bigger in Hip Hop is bigger than Dupri in Atlanta and worldwide. Black Eye Peas before they went pop was Diet Outkast Zero. Travis Scott, J .Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, and etc. are all influenced by Outkast.

Jermaine Dupri Gets Dragged for Stripper Rap Comment

Many people were up in arms over JD’s comments on female rap. Cardi B defended her music and spoke up for Rhapsody and Tierra Whack. She even said her song “Be Careful” has nothing to do with the strip club. Ari Lennox from Dreamville went to Instagram Live and dissed Dupri in a freestyle. Doja Cat went to Twitter and spoke up, which got reposted by Jada Pinkett Smith. JD would try to clean up his mess by having an all female rap cypher(Date TBD). That move got blasted by 6lack labeling it more reactive than proactive.
