Singer/Songwriter JerzeySon is bringing music to our ears. The Nigerian-American artist has raised the bar with his smooth sound and afrobeat tempo, causing any woman to give him a call on the weekdays. His MTV Base Africa featured song and music video ‘Callin’ was inspired by his journey of what some might consider “struggle love”.
“I see you Callin/But you only call on the weekends
Only text back when you’re creeping/I ain’t a fool
Cant play by your rules.”
New Jersey is where some of his musical roots were birthed. His passion for music and songwriting emerged at the tender age of 10 after the City of New Jersey featured a story about a poem he wrote in the newspaper. Ever since then, the rest is history, and JerzeySon’s artistry is being highlighted on the most influential platforms.
Last Friday, he opened for international singer Davido in Dallas, Texas. Davido has worked with the likes of Lil Baby, Teyana Taylor, and Summer Walker. Davido recently performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and the hit remake movie ‘Comin 2 America’.
When asked how JerzeySon landed such a phenomenal opportunity, he said,
“I worked with my booking manager Bobby Show with BME nightlife. My team believed in me and was able to manifest the opportunity.” He also went on to say how Davido has impacted his career.
“Davido has shown there is a market for afro-fusion nationally. He shows the world that the African market is here to stay and impact the music industry.”
The fantastic visual directed by Will Fairbanks of TORP, engineered and produced by Tolu and Ptunes, gave us a versatile feel of JerzeySon’s native roots and hip-hop culture. He is grateful for his team, family, friends, and supporters but gives God credit for his success.
JerzeySon is ecstatic and believes he’s on the right trajectory for his career. With his second EP ‘Native 2’ releasing this Spring, there’s no telling what’s in store for JerzeySon next. Let’s keep our eyes on him.
