JT Partook In A Hot Twitter Dispute With A Blogger

On Monday, Jul. 17, an argument between JT and a blogger named KenBarbie took place on Twitter. It’s unclear whether any pre-heat occurred offline. The conflict on social media allegedly started from KenBarbie tweeting a screenshot of JT’s tweet, pictures of Ice Spice, and a caption saying, “Somebody better tell JT Ice Spice already brought her ‘princess’ collar.”

The City Girls member then clapped back at the blogger claiming, “non-Black ppl once again using terms to insinuate that black women are dogs.”

In response, KenBarbie shared that he’s “definitely 100% black.” The blogger also asked, “Why y’all always assume light skin people aren’t black? Don’t try to race bait me, you know you’re lap dog.”

The JT KenBarbie Argument Continues

The brawl then went on with KenBarbie claiming he “don’t fight women, though,” and asking whether he should fight Lil Uzi Vert instead, whom he also referred to as “Leslie.”

KenBarbie also discussed a recent situation with JT and Lil Uzi at BET Awards. At the time, both got into a heated dispute, which many related to Lil Uzi’s obscure flirting with Ice Spice prior. So did KenBarbie, who tweeted, “Where was this energy when [Ice Spice] played in your face? Talking bout she the girl of your man dreams after playing with him DIRECTLY in your face? You know who to try, huh?”

On top of that, KenBarbie brought up JT’s old tweet, where she said she “[loves] pretty dark skin girls.” She also claimed that “milky ways be the shit.” KenBarbie posted a screenshot of this tweet, also claiming that “trying to race bait when this is you is crazy.”

A lot went on afterward, including discussions about JT’s private life and alleged unwillingness to fight other women since they can fight back. “She never has this energy for women,” KenBarbie claimed. “She’s just giving y’all a show because at the end of the day.. she knows I don’t touch women. But where’s this energy for the girls? That’s why Ice Spice gagged her at the awards and left untouched and KEPT trolling her right after.”

In the end, the conflict went down by itself without any significant mark, showing its conclusion.

Previous Brawl

It is also not the first time JT and KenBarbie have gotten into a Twitter argument. In Nov. 2022, the Twitter blogger claimed that “JT and Uzi split up this time because he was creeping with a model in LA.” The City Girls member responded, “As long as me & Uzi been officially it’s been fiction.”

FM Interviews: Bri Trilla About “Big Mood,” Work Ethic, And Favorite Artists

“Big Mood” is a manifestation of focus on financial enrichment and also yourself above all else. Bri Trilla, the Georgian author of the single, uses lines like “He pourin’ his heart out, I just can’t fall in love for shit” or “I ain’t tryna get in my feelings, right now I’m tryna get rich” to deliver her message.

“It’s empowering,” the artist explained to me. “It kind of gives women that feel where if you were in a relationship and it’s time to get something fresh, something new started in your life. I think “Big Mood” is that song to get you back in that spirit, in that mode, and in that mood of where you once were before…So it really is a women empowerment song all the way around the board.”

Bri Trilla

Bri Trilla’s own story also sounds empowering. She started creating music in childhood. Bri Trilla also had no outside help when she started learning how to play the instruments. “I think I’m just gifted,” the “Big Mood” author explained. “I have an ear, so a lot of the time, you could play a note, and I could just find the note and match it.”

Currently, Bri Trilla has hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. She has also received support from prominent artists like GloRilla and JT from City Girls. According to Bri Trilla, the best way to become successful is “consistency and hard work.”

“Consistent, hard work. Even when talent isn’t working, just work hard and be consistent. Post every day. Get familiar with the new social media trends, new social media apps, and networking. Again, just branding. You have to market yourself, be your brand, know how to do it for your stuff and be authentic. But at the end of the day, just continue to be consistent and be able to learn and be able to grow.”

Bri Trilla’s own favorite musicians are “Michael Jackson, Moneybagg YoSZANickiCardi.”

“A lot of the mainstream artists I really listen to,” the artist explained. “I don’t really have one favorite because my music is very versatile, so I listen to genres of music all across the board. So whatever music sounds good to me, I’m probably playing it.”

The “Big Mood” author also wants to work with Moneybagg Yo at some point. “I’m a student of the game, so I’ve watched Moneybagg Yo grow over the years as well. I like how he plays with his pen. I like his creative and how he’s artistic with everything that he does. So, again, I like him as from artist to artist, how he built up his career and how he did it for himself, and it’s kind of cool to watch.”

Yung Miami Reveals Her And Diddy SPLIT

Yung Miami and Diddy are no longer ‘going together’ really bad.

Yung Miami, one-half of City Girls, gave all the tea in her latest interview with The Cut. She is also their newest cover girl. The Miami rapper gave the latest on her situation with New York mogul Diddy. It turns out that Shawty Wop is no longer with her papi.

Miami And Diddy Were Never Really Exclusive

The pair were candid about their dating life, not shy of letting people know they were both single and ready to mingle. The award-winning podcaster, Yung Miami, explained to The Cut why she and Diddy were so open about being together: eventually, people would find out anyway.

“We was just like, if we’re going to put it out there, we’re going to be the ones that talk. I don’t like anyone talking for me,” Caresha added.

An Interesting Dynamic, Some Failed To Understand

Yung Miami and Diddy went public over the Summer of 2022 with an interesting dynamic, and some failed to understand. The situation never really had a title, but we definitely knew they “go together, real bad.”

Caresha once explained to XXL magazine what she meant when she said they go together. “When we’re together, we’re together. We’re having the time of our lives, but we’re still single,” said Yung Miami.

Are The Pain Friends Still?

Yung Miami explained they are both “still good friends” and that Diddy is just not her man. “We had our own situation, I’m not gonna put a title on it. We were f***ing with each other hard,” the Miami rapper reiterated.

Also, shockingly revealing that the pair were together every day at one point.

Yung Miami Is A Force

Caresha Brownlee is a force to be reckoned with and has been paving her way in the industry as more than a rapper. Her podcast, “Caresha Please,” appeared in movies like “You People,” and still does festivals performing with JT.

Charlamagne The God Believes Yung Miami’s “Caresha Please” Shouldn’t Have Earned Best Hip-Hop Platform, Calls The Win “Bulls**t”

Yung Miami teamed up with her boo Diddy, embarking on a new chapter together in the industry. The City Girl hosts her very own podcast on Revolt TV, Caresha Please which Puff executively produced himself. The Miami native usually receives positive feedback on each of her episodes. However, many fans were shocked to see she claimed the Best Hip-Hop Platform BET Hip-Hop Award.

Charlamagne Tha God disagrees with the votes!

On Wednesday, October 6th, the Breakfast Club host shared his thoughts with Revolt chairman Diddy during his appearance on the morning show. He said, “I love Caresha, but it tied with Drink Champs. Diddy you know that’s some bullshit,” Diddy clapped back, calling Caresha Please the “best podcast of the year!” Charlamagne continued asking the “Gotta Move On” artist if he paid for the show to win, which Diddy immediately shut down.

Yung Miami’s award got fans questioning the votes!

Being that the Act Up rapper only produced five episodes thus far, viewers are curious as to how Caresha Please could beat other podcasts like Million Dollars Worth of Game and Drink Champs. One user @yummycheesekake tweeted, “Ain’t no real way Caresha please won podcast of the ”year” over drink champs & million dollarz worth of game…. It’s a good podcast but of the “year” ….naaaaaaaaah …. Diddy still robbing niggas I see.” Another user @2burgos said, “Caresha Please should’ve NEVER Won over Drink Champs or Million Dollars Worth of Game. Caresha Please shouldn’t have even been Eligible to win until next year. Diddy forsure paid for that. That’s why all these Award Ceremonies are BS!”

Yung Miami fires Back!

As Twitter rants about who should have really won the BET Award for Best Hip Hop Platform, Yung Miami didn’t hesitate to respond to all the backlash. She say’s, “Not y’all mad #Careshaplease won an award? Awwww :’(.” As many of the comments were more on the negative side, one fan @Khadijah9310 wrote, “Lol let’s celebrate with a new episode!”

Femcees and Their Brush With the Law

There is much that defines Hip-Hop and much that shapes its influence within the world. However, nothing has more formative power and influence in Hip-Hop than the artists who step to the mic to tell their stories.

While some MCs spit about money and their shine, others flow about the street, the upsets, and the climb. Some come from a place of proximity, relaying experiences from a distance. Others from straight off the front lines.

Not everyone’s course is through a field of roses; some crawl through the trenches with scars to prove how far they’ve come. So here is a list of female MCs who’ve stumbled. At some point in their careers, they have had brushes with the law. Now they bear a record as proof.

Nevertheless, their past scars are a testament to their humanity and evidence of what is possible with refocusing.

Female MC #1 Remy Ma

Remy Ma

Remy Ma hit the scene in 2000 as the newest artist on Columbia Records. 2006 saw the release of Remy’s debut album, “There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story.” There was no doubt that Remy went hard.

A year after her debut, things took a left. Ma had one of the most publicized run-ins with the law. As a result of her arrest, she would serve a seven-year prison bid. Remy’s charges stem from an argument with a friend, which turned lethal.

During their struggle, her friend, Barnes-Joseph, was inflicted with multiple gunshot wounds The penalty for such a crime carried a 25-year maximum.

However, the prosecution sought thirteen. Some believe the tenor of the MCs’ testimony was most influential in the judge’s final decision. According to XXL Magazine, Remy’s statement was to this effect,

“I’m not a thug. I’m not a hardcore anything; I have feelings. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, a big sister.”

And reportedly, her speech bore extreme remorse. Judge Rena Uviller’s response was an eight-year sentence. Ma won her second appeal walking free in 2014.

Female MC #2 Lil Kim

Lil Kim

When it comes to Hip-Hop and female MCs, Lil Kim’s name is everpresent. Lil Kim, Kimberly Denise Jones caught the eye of the Notorious Big. Her talent was impressive leading Biggie to take her under his wings.

Lil Kim soon became one of the most popular mainstream female MCs. However, her artistry is not the only thing she is known for. Lil Kim takes second place regarding the most highly publicized brush with the law.

Lil Kim was convicted in 2005; her sentence was a one-year prison sentence. However, in addition to incarceration, she was also ordered to 30 days in home confinement and three years of probation.

Kim’s sentencing was the result of four counts of a criminal offense. Count one was for perjury before a grand jury. And the other three counts were for conspiracy.

When Lil Kim took the stand and was questioned about her knowledge of Damion Butler’s and Suif Jackson’s involvement in a shooting. According to a 2005 Billboard article, Kim testified she overlooked two of her close friends at the scene where the shooting occurred.

The New York Times reported, “Ms. Jones said she did not see Damion Butler at the radio station that day. She also said she did not know the person in the photograph.”

Later Lil Kim was found guilty of lying before the grand jury. Finally, Kim walked free in July of 2006.

Female MC #3 Foxy Brown

Foxy Brown

Foxy Brown is not only a contemporary but a former MC rival of Lil Kim. Lil Kim hit the booth in 1996 with her debut album “Ill Na Na.” Her debut was hot right off the press, and it wasn’t long before everyone knew her name.

Unfortunately, like Kim, she also takes recognition for her jail time. Reportedly Brown got into a fight with two stylists at a nail salon resulting in assault charges. Initially, the Hip-Hop femcee pled guilty.

However, she later attempted to rescind her plea. According to Reuters, Brown’s told the judge, “I feel I am innocent. I was coerced, and I want to take back my guilty plea.”

Of course, she was denied and given three years of probation for her involvement in the altercation. Aside from the probation, the judge’s orders would include anger management classes, drug testing, and a restraining order.

In addition, Brown could not have any contact with the stylist for five years.

Sadly Brown, Inga Marchand’s three years of probation turned into a one-year sentence. The sentence resulted from the artist refusing to attend her court hearing. According to Reuters, the defendant’s rationale for not appearing in court was due to tooth extraction. As it is now a public record, Brown was sentenced in 2007.

However, four months before her sentence was complete, Brown was out.

Female MC #4 Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill is one of the most well-known female lyricists in Hip-Hop history. Her influence is generational. In 1996 Hill and her fellow collaboratives of the group The Fugees broke records with their second debut album, “The Score.”

However, success and stardom do not keep one free from entanglements with the law. Lauryn Hill also had her brush with the law in 2012. Unfortunately, Hill had three counts against her for failing to file taxes. But, also in 2012, Hill pled guilty to the crime of tax evasion. As a result, Hill was sentenced to 3 months of jail time and three months of in-home detainment.

A year of probation was to follow. Sadly, her sentencing was only part of Hill’s penalty. According to Justice.gov, Judge Arleo ordered Hill to pay the IRS a $60,000 fine and restitution.

Arleo also ordered Hill’s full cooperation with the IRS, including payment of outstanding interest and penalties on her tax obligations.

Female MC #5 Da Brat

Da Brat

In 1992 Da Brat signed with So So Def Records and made her presence known. Her album “Funkdafied” made history. According to famouspeople.com, the album made her the first-ever female solo rapper to earn a platinum certification.

However, Da Brat would gain notoriety for something else, also. Foxy Brown was not the only female emcee sentenced in 2007. Da Brat also saw jail time in 2007 for assault.

DaBrat, whose real name is Shawntee Harris, had a run-in with a waitress at a Halloween party. According to Rap-Up, she struck a waitress with a rum bottle. This incident led to the waitress’s hospitalization.

As a result, a judge sentenced Brat to 3 years in prison. The MC also got seven years of probation and community service. Da Brat served her time, and sources indicate she was released early as part of a work-release program.

Female MC #6 JT of City Girls

JT of City Girls
JT of City Girls. Image source: Paras Griffin.

The spotlight now spins to JT of the Hip-Hop duo City Girls. City Girls is a hot rap lyrical duo from Miami. JT and Yung Miami have been etching in the Hip-Hop scrolls since featuring with Drake on “In My Feelings.”

Unfortunately, JT learned success was not the only thing that got recognition. JT went to prison in 2018 for the crime of fraudulent credit card activity.

According to XXL, JT used the credit cards of three different people between 2016 and 2017 and spent more than $1,000. JT later turned herself in. As a result, she received 24 months in prison. However, in 2019 JT walked free.

One of the most significant components of Hip-Hop is the people who stand behind the mic. Unfortunately, every person has shadows, and some loom larger than others. While these female MCs have committed crimes, they have also done their time.

And thankfully, a fall doesn’t define the whole of a human being. Despite where these women have been, they remain inspirations. It is not for what they went through but for the heights they have risen because the real inspiration comes from how one rises from the ash heap to be reborn and reformed.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Birthday Bash Was A Hit For Everyone But Them

Lil Uzi Vert’s birthday party took place on July 31. And shortly after, a video went viral of them looking miserable while everyone else celebrated. The artist is speaking out about what was going through their head. And why they weren’t into the celebration.

Why Lil Uzi Vert’s Birthday Wasn’t A Happy One

The rapper turned 27 and was shown love from friends, fans, and girlfriend JT. But in a video that’s been making rounds online LUV looks like they are being held hostage. The internet instantly started calling out the artist and seemed to be worried about what was happening with them.

In the video the Philly native is sitting at a table with all their loved ones and a massive cake with sparkling candles. However, the only person not smiling is the guest of honor. All of their friends are smiling and seem to be enjoying themselves, but the artist not only seems uncomfortable, they seem annoyed. In the video they even question how to blow out the candles. Saying “How? I don’t wish.”

Uzi heard the chatter about the video. And took to Twitter on August 2 to address the concerns. “Every time I have a birthday dinner I reflect on my past and it makes me sad.”  They continue by saying they are excited on the inside, but afraid to show it. And thanked everyone for the love. But ended by saying “I hate my birthday lol.”

Despite Lil Uzi Vert’s birthday not being something they enjoy celebrating. Their City Girl partner went all out showering them with love on Instagram. Calling them “a dream come true” and “one of [her] greatest rewards.” And on top of her heartfelt post the “Twerkulator”rapper even got the “Red & White” artist a Maybach van.

Despite looking uncomfortable at their dinner Lil Uzi Vert’s birthday wasn’t all negative. They did look excited when celebrating their birthday in the club. The rapper not only hung out with James Harden and NAV, but they brought a ton of cash for the bash!

Recently Lil Uzi Vert took to Instagram to change his pronouns to “they/them.” It’s clear that his long-time girlfriend, city girl member JT, is riding with them. The City Girl rapper quoted a tweet on Wednesday, July, 21st correcting herself referring to Uzi as “They.”

New Hip Hop Series ‘Rap Sh!t’ to Air On HBO Max

Nothing gets the hip-hop community more hype than a new show with hip-hop as the nucleus; now, there is yet another thing to raise the hype factor “Rap Sh!t.” Sources note July 21; fans will experience HBO’s newest series.

“Rap Sh!t”

“Rap Sh!t” is creating quite the buzz. The show is a project that Issa Rae has the privilege of serving as co-writer and executive producer. As a writer, Issa, former star of the hit series “Insecure,” is given credit for writing both the premiere and the final episode of the show. And reportedly, Yung Miami and JT (from City Girls) will serve alongside Issa Rae also as executive producers proving this should be quite an exciting show.

The Plot

According to TV Line, the show’s plot revolves around two friends, Shawna and Mia. After the two have been apart for a minute, they reunite, setting their sights on a career in the industry. The goal for this hot Miami pair becomes forming a rap group. Given the success of “Queens” starring Brandy, Eve, Naturi Naughton and Nadine Velazquez, we are here for it all. However, the word is “Rap Sh!t” will not be your typical drama. Instead, this show is categorized as a music-comedy giving it an extra something to pique viewers’ interest.

The One in Charge

Rae, Young Miami and JT are not the only ones on the project. The project is said to be headed by Syreeta Singleton, who Rae asked to lead the charge. And Singleton cannot gush enough about the premise of the new show. According to Singleton, the show dives deep into the meaning of friendship. Although there is much to be said about the music underlining the series, there is one thing she hopes for. In speaking of her waiting audience, Singleton had this to say,

“I really hope that they see themselves in Shawna and/or Mia.”

Shawna, Mia and their Rap Sh!t

Shawna and Mia are the main characters of the new series. These two hip-hop aspirants are the ones viewers will rock with during their ride from discovery to the realization of their passion. According to Huff Post, Shawna is a student of hip-hop. She’s a socially conscious rapper whose been flexing and honing her skills since her Spelman days. However, things haven’t panned out the way she hoped. And as is noted, her characterization is drawn from the inspiration of a few hip-hop female heavyweights, Missy Elliott, Tierra Whack, Noname and Rapsody.

Mia, the other part of the duo, is Shawna’s homegirl, a true-to-herself hustler. Her sights are set on survival and the best for her daughter. Her grind is her priority, and she makes her ends by putting in hours as a sex worker and make-up artist.

The Crux of it All

Despite their different trajectories and life perspectives, they come together to do something extraordinary. According to Singleton Shawna, played by Aida Osman (show writer), and Mia, played by (rap artist), KaMillion come to see

“They both kind of need each other without really realizing it.”

A Little More about the Series

The series will carry eight episodes. The soundtrack will highlight some of Miami’s hottest. According to Huff Post,

“The show features original music from Miami artists and producers. Its music also samples songs from Khia and Trina, artists who’ve captured the iconic Miami hip-hop sound.”

Given the plot, series progenitors, crew and the score, the flex is hard with “Rap Sh!t.” This is a show that’s flying high on our radar. Here’s hoping “Rap Sh!t” lives up to the hype.
