Kanye West’s ‘The Shop’ Interview Pulled After Hate Speech

Kanye West’s interview on LeBron James’ The Shop won’t see the light of day after recent comments. The news was announced yesterday by SpringHill CEO and co-host of The Shop Maverick Carter.

“Yesterday we taped an episode of The Shop with Kanye West,” Carter told Andscape. The outlet also notes that LeBron wasn’t present at the taping for the episode.

Carter notes that though he “believed he [West] was capable of a respectful discussion,” it became apparent that Kanye wanted to use The Shop to “reiterate more hate speech and extremely dangerous stereotypes.” Carter did not specify exactly what was said during the taping.

However, production sources told Andscape that Ye “doubled down on his recent anti-Semitic remarks” in the episode. The episode also featured shoe designer Salehe Bembury, as well as West’s “Amazing” partner Jeezy.

Over the weekend, the rapper began making anti-Semitic comments while beefing with Diddy. He then took his comments to Twitter after Instagram suspended his account. A tweet where Kanye threatened to go “Death con 3″ on Jewish people was later deleted by the platform.

On Tuesday, unaired footage from West’s controversial interview with Tucker Carlson emerged. In it, he makes more antisemitic comments while addressing the issue of the”fake children” who were placed in his home.

Jewish advocacy groups have accused Kanye of reinforcing anti-Semitic stereotypes. The American Jewish Committee called out his “incoherent rants laden with racist and antisemitic undertones made on the country’s top cable news program.”

Kanye’s recent controversies

Over the past week, West has attracted attention for unveiling a shirt with the controversial slogan “White Lives Matter” at his fashion show in Paris. After receiving criticism from Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, West launched abusive attacks on her from social media. His behavior drew criticism from around the fashion world.

In recent days, West’s behavior has prompted his ex-wife Kim Kardashian to pay for extra security at their children’s school. This came after West made social media posts that revealed the location of the school.

Khaled and Hov have collaborated many times through the years, including “We Got The Keys,”, “They Don’t Love You No More” and “Sorry Not Sorry”.

DJ Khaled’s session with Jay-Z is one of many teases the mogul has given fans over the last few months. He revealed the title of the project, God Did, on July 6. Shortly after, the New Orleans native flooded social media with pictures of Drake in the studio, along with a clip of Khaled’s rise to fame. No release date for the album has been announced.

DJ Khaled markets his album

According to the release announcing the album, “God Did” has become a personal mantra for DJ Khaled. The release also featured other artists and celebrities using the phrase, including Future, Lil Baby and LeBron James.

“I made this album for all the believers and non believers. They didn’t believe in us…do you?,” the caption read. Khaled also posted a video montage of scenes from the studio while recording the album. The marketing gives the hint that the album is going for a gospel angle.

Dj Khaled’s 2021 album, KHALED KHALED, earned the rapper his third No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200. The project also managed to reach No. 1 on the Rap Albums chart, the sixth time a Khaled album has done so.

In April, the Bahamian artist celebrated getting his Hollywood Walk of Fame star. The ceremony included guests such as Jay-Z, Diddy, and Teyana Taylor.

RZA and Lebron James Get Sleepy With ‘Calm’ Meditation App

RZA and Lebron James have teamed up with Calm for an advertisement and audio story.

Calm is a sleep and meditation app designed to help people stay cool and collected with mood check-ins, guided meditations, and calming nature sounds and music.

The ad dropped today to line up with the start of the NBA season and is on broadcast TV, digital and social media, and out-of-home advertisements.

The audio story is a 34-minute “Sleep Story” called King of the Sleeping City, narrated by Lebron James and scored by RZA. The story is about a kid navigating a bustling metropolis. The character, named Amare, finds solace on a seventh-story fire escape.

“Take it as far as you can take it down.” RZA had said after 10 seconds of drawing breath deep into his belly during his Rolling Stone interview.

RZA is also an advocate of veganism and other health-focused life choices:

“I say meditation is better than medication.”

RZA had difficulties with making this audio adventure. “We had some technical glitches, which always come at the final hour,” he said. “… I found myself in the studio ’til four and five in the morning for two nights in a row. I haven’t done that in 10 years.”

RZA completed mixing for the Calm collab while in Manhattan for an unannounced movie. After he was done with the mixing, he had film-related duties as early as 8 am the next day.

The All-NBA Selections Are Out!

It’s that time again!

Midway through the playoffs, the NBA treated fans to revealing the All-NBA teams last night.  With a league packed with the world’s best players, the picks are always debatable, but let’s take a look at the overall consensus.

Holding it down on the First team, the highest honor, we have an unsurprising list of five. There’s, of course, this year’s MVP, Nikola “The Joker” Jokic, holding the starting center position. Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo at forward, rounded off by the world’s greatest shooter, Steph Curry, and Luka Doncic as the guards. At age 22, this is Doncic’s second consecutive season making the first team, truly a prodigy of the game.

The second team is centered by Joel Embiid, the runner-up for the MVP award. Julius Randle and LeBron James are selected for forward, with LeBron setting a record at 17 career selections. The guards are very deservingly Chris Paul and Damian Lillard, though many feel that Dame deserves the first team.

Finally, in the honorable third team, we see defensive beast Rudy Gobert at center. Paul George edges his way onto the list as a forward with Jimmy Butler. Bradley Beal represents the Wizards with his guard selection alongside Kyrie Irving, surprisingly the only Brooklyn Net on the list.

The Snubs

With so many brilliant players in the league, there are, of course, some upsets.  Young stars Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Trae Young, and even Zion Williamson all had great looks to make a list but just missed it. The youngest player with the biggest snub is easily Donovan Mitchell, the lovable leader of the Jazz. In terms of veterans, Russell Westbrook also makes the snubs list.

However, the biggest snub has to be Kevin Durant not making any team, despite being arguably the best player in the world.  KD responded to the rankings by singlehandedly coming back on the Bucks, dropping 49 points within his triple-double.  KD is living proof that the lists remain arbitrary.

What do you think of the selections, agree or disagree?  Check out some of our other NBA content here!
