Creed III Set To Have Big Weekend

Creed III has plans to top the box office this weekend as the third installment in the series opened at midnight.  In what will be Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, the previews already raked in $5.45 million on Thursday.  The film is projected to reach $36 million in its debut weekend, just shy of Creed II’s opening weekend.  Creed II hit $35 million while the origin of the series, Creed, managed to do $29 million.  Stars Jonathan Majors and Jordan have built anticipation of their characters and movie plot via trailers and interviews.  Fans will be in for a treat!

Creed x Anime

Jordan gives credit to Anime in certain aspects of this film.  One of the many themes of Creed III is being challenged by a person you once called a friend and shared a bond.  This is a theme that can be found in various Anime films or series such as Dragon Ball Z and My Hero Academia.  The Black Panther actor says he identifies with Goku in Dragon Ball Z in a conversation with Polygon.

“It’s Goku’s resilience, you know? No matter how much pain and struggle he goes through, every battle, a Saiyan only gets stronger….I think that resilience, that never-give-up attitude is what I connect with, and I dig that.”

Dreamville Soundtrack

The premiere of Creed III was set in Los Angeles at the TCL Chinese Theater earlier this week.  Many stars showed up to the premiere such as Cordae, Chloe Bailey, and Big Sean.  Big Sean probably showed up to the premiere because he is on the soundtrack to the movie.  Creed III: The Soundtrack is an album by Dreamville featuring artists from the J.Cole led record label as well as other artists.

Dreamville artists, JID, Lute, Cole, Ari Lennox, Bas, Cozz, Earthgang, Omen, and SiR, are all on the soundtrack.  Guest features include Kehlani, Morray, Buddy, Blxst, Symba, Big Sean, and EST Gee.  Bas had the pleasure of playing “Blood, Sweat & Tears” in the studio for the Creed III director, to which he immediately fell in love with it.  Jordan along with Ryan Coogler also had a hand in executive producing the soundtrack.

J.Cole and his record label have been busy this week.  They have also announced their lineup for the 2023 Dreamville Festival.  The festival will take place in Raleigh, North Carolina with Drake and Usher headlining the three-day event along with Cole.

Radio Host Lore’l Did Not Call Michael B. Jordan “Corny,” New Audio Reveals

New surfaced podcast audio from 2021 proves the co-host on “The Morning Hustle Show” and interviewer, Lore’l, did not call Michael B. Jordan “corny.”

It Actually Wasn’t Lore’l

However, her co-host did take a jab at the on-screen boxer and main star of upcoming film Creed III. A movie he not only starred in, but also directed.

Jordan Playfully Teases Lore’l

Jordan took a moment to troll Lore’l on the red carpet at the movie’s premiere. He playfully gave her what he thought was a taste of her own medicine.

The director stopped and took a moment to speak to the Atlanta host. Lore’l congratulated him on Creed III and revealed the two were classmates in Newark, New Jersey.

“We go way back, all the way back to Chad Science [Academy] in Newark,” she said.

“Oh yeah, I was the corny kid, right?” The New Jersey native responded, referring to what he thought Lore’l had said on her podcast.

But the “corny” comment really came from Dominique Da Diva, Lore’l’s co-host.

The encounter went viral on February 26.

Podcast Audio From 2021 With Dominique

The podcast audio from 2021 reveals Lore’l’s co-host’s comments on the actor deep-down being a “nice, corny guy.” She says she does not mean that as a slight, and believes that “nice, corny guys treat you the best.”

Lore’l then chimed in and mentioned that she went to high school with Micheal in Newark.

In addition, the host admitted that kids would tease him for bringing headshots to school and because of his name” Michael Jordan.”

You hear in the audio, “… and he was no Michael Jordan.”

But there’s more… From Dominique

Dominique had more to say on her Instagram story…

“They mad at Lore’l when it was me who called him corny,” she said on Instagram.

“Any black man that dates white women is corny to me. I guess that PR relationship with Lori helped y’all forget but I didn’t,” Dominique added.

The co-host also said, “I literally said corny guys treat you the best. So y’all weird for being mad.”

Michael B. Jordan Stuns in New Film “Without Remorse”…

In new film release, Michael B. Jordan demonstrates what it means to be “Without Remorse”

Michael B. Jordan, known for his iconic role as “Kiilmonger” in Marvel Studio’s “Black Panther,” is finally back on the screen, “Without Remorse!”

Jordan is not new to the industry. Beginning his career at a young age. In fact, since 1999, he has made various appearances in several well-known series and films, relentlessly building a name for himself.  And, in 2013, the Creed star became the recipient of much acclaim for his depiction of Oscar Grant in the eye-opening “Fruitvale Station.”

Subsequently, Jordan’s trajectory has been upward. He has proven time, and again there is nothing he cannot do. He thrills filmgoers in whatever role he reprises.

With that said, Jordan is unrelenting and cements that acting prowess in his most recent film release. On April 30th, Amazon Prime released the highly-anticipated action-adventure. And Michael B. Jordan shines brightly as a take no prisoners, ex-Navy Seal, John Kelly. And with every turn, the reigning Sexiest Man Alive shows moviegoers he encompasses the talent and skill to bring the role home. Jordan does not just play a special op’s soldier set on vengeance. He fully embodies the character in the minute-by-minute thriller!

Michael B. Jordan’s character is flat out unapologetic in this Tom Clancy adaptation. And Jordan deserves nothing but big props for this performance, as this is not a stopping point. Instead, he hopes it’s only a beginning. Stating in a recent press release,

“Hopefully this role is the beginning for a rich and entertaining franchise…”

In addition, the film also stars actress Lauren London, who makes her return to the big screen after a two-year hiatus following the unexpected passing of her partner Nipsey Hussle.

Be sure to catch this thriller, currently streaming on Amazon Prime.

Eddie Murphy Reveals Director Ryan Coogler Tried to Pitch Coming to America Sequel Starring Michael B. Joran; Turned It Down

By Prince Hakeem

As the premiere of the Coming to America sequel fast approaches, audiences and fans heard from the titular comedian lead describe the journey it took for this return to Zamunda to happen.

During a New York Times profile interview alongside co-star and longtime comedic friend Arsenio Hall, Eddie Murphy detailed how he and the original film producers never thought about doing a Coming to America sequel.

“The way the story ended was kind of like, ‘And they lived happily ever after.’ Then all this time passed and the movie became this cult thing,” Murphy said.

It wasn’t until he saw how much of a beloved classic the film had become, that he began to consider stepping back into that world.

“Catchphrases from the movie start working their way into the culture. Stores turning themselves into McDowell’s. I see Beyoncé and Jay-Z dressed up like the Zamunda characters for Halloween.”

At one point, Murphy began to hear pitches from several directors on what the sequel would look like. One of them was Ryan Coogler. He pitched the film starring Michael B Jordan. In the end, that idea didn’t materialize.

“[Coogler] had an idea for Michael B. Jordan to play my son and he would be looking for a wife,” Murphy recalled. “I was like, then the movie would be about the son, it’s not our characters, we already did that. It didn’t come together.”

Considering the images we’ve seen from the trailers thus far, I’d say ‘Coming 2 America will be just fine.

Michael B. Jordan Joins DC’s “Static Shock” As A Producer

Michael B. Jordan Joins DC’s “Static Shock” As A Producer

Michael B. Jordan joins DC’s Static Shock and Warner Bros. as a producer.

Jordan confirmed his role for the project with a sly post on Twitter on Friday with a photo of the first Static comic book issue.

First revealed at the DC FanDome event back in August, Joran will be joining filmmaker Reginald Hudlin on the project.

“I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes; our community deserves that, Jordan said in conversation with The Hollywood Reporter

Outlier Society, his Warner Bros.-based banner, will be in creative control of the Static project.

“Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step.”

Based on the comic by Milestone Comics, the animated series Static Shock follows Virgil Hawkins, a high school student who transforms into a superhero with electromagnetic powers after he came in contact with a radioactive gas.

DC is relaunching Milestone Comics, a now-defunct company founded by Black artists and writers to help make comics distributed through DC more inclusive. Hudlin is writing the new Static Shock digital comic starting February 2021 in addition to a graphic novel.

During the early 2000s, the series gained traction since it was one of the only animated series with a Black leading character.

“Virgil is what I always wanted as a comic book kid growing up; Black Spider-Man. A good story can make you live it, feel it, and when it does, it resonates on a whole other level. It touched on archetypes as a comic fan that I loved, but also touched on my life as a Black man in the real world,” says Phil LaMarr, the original voice of Static to Entertainment Weekly.
