Latto and Playboi Carti Drops “Blick Sum” Music Video

Latto and Playboi Carti "Blick Sum" Music Video

Latto and Playboi Carti have joined forces for a remix of “Blick Sum,” a track from Latto’s 2024 album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. The remix features a new verse from Carti, additionally a hot new music video, directed by Hidji World and Gunner Stahl.

In the music video, Latto embraces a more assertive persona, where she’s showcasing scenes where she confidently brandishes her “blicky”. She’s reminding us she’s still in her “gangster girl” era. Playboi Carti embodies his “playboy” persona in the video, and indeed fans love him for it. In one scene Carti’s performing in a UFC-style ring surrounded by bootylicious dancers shaking their “Gorgia Peach”. The visual also includes a cameo from rapper 2 Chainz, which further emphasizes the Atlanta connection.

The collaboration between Latto and Playboi Carti has been highly anticipated. Especially after a version of the track leaked prior to Latto’s album’s release. Fans are now treated to the official remix and its accompanying visuals. The video highlight the artists’ chemistry and individual styles.

Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea album features collaborations with artists such as Young Nudy, Hunxho, Coco Jones, Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Mariah the Scientist, and Teezo Touchdown. Notably, Latto is nominated in the upcoming 2025 Grammy Awards for her single “Big Mama.” What a fabulous finish to a big year!

Summer Walker Doesn’t Approve of Lil Uzi ‘Playin With the Devil’

Lil Uzi was seen at this past weekend’s Rolling Loud Festival in an all-red suit, and he’s facing some heavy backlash from Summer Walker and more.

Uzi and Playboi Carti are industry peers that have several qualities in common. One of them being their frequent rumors of satanic worship. A woman attending Carti’s Rolling Loud set on Saturday (Mar 4) posted herself leaving due to some uncomfortable feelings. Supposedly, the concertgoer didn’t appreciate the “demonic” imagery stemming from Carti’s noticeable interest in the occult and vampy aesthetic. The video quickly went viral on Twitter and snowballed into a discussion regarding artists pushing an anti-Christian agenda. On Tuesday (Mar 7), Summer Walker joined the conversation with a post to her Instagram story.

Summer Gives A Warning

“I make a city girl believe in Satan,” Summer captioned a video of Uzi, quoting a line he rapped from an unreleased track. “I be genuinely curious have these ppl ever seen or heard a demon before? Or is it just a trend cause I feel like if you have you’d stop playin,” she started. “Really nothing funny or cute about it. May god be with you.”

The “Potential” singer later deleted the post. Despite the deletion, many like-minded Twitter users agree the music industry is headed in a dark direction. On the other end, plenty thinks the entire issue is overblown fearmongering. What’s your take on this weekend’s rambunctious Rolling Loud? Is all the fire and brimstone genuinely dark, or is it just a clever ploy for attention by today’s stars? After all, all the world’s biggest pop stars have had their turn with anti-Christian accusations. From Beyonce to Lady Gaga and even more recent acts like Lil Nas X, it’s a persevering rumor that still hasn’t died down.

Playboi Carti Added To Rolling Loud NY Festival Lineup

It’s been announced that Atlanta superstar Playboi Carti was added to the lineup for New York’s Rolling Loud Festival weekend. The rapper will be headlining the event, which takes place from September 23 to 25th. Interestingly, Playboi Carti’s performed at each Rolling Loud city since last year. It may not be that surprising though, as fans and publications are still praising his most recent album “Whole Lotta Red” even years after its release. Carti even put on a phenomenal show in New York at the festival just a year ago and will likely deliver the same energy this year. Take a look at last year’s performance at Rolling Loud NY below:

His Record Label Opium and Its Current Roster

In addition to his success and moves as a solo artist, he’s growing into a promising executive as well. There are currently a few budding artists signed on to his relatively new record label Opium. Two of his signees, Ken Car$on and Destroy Lonely, have recently dropped solo projects in the last few weeks. Both artists display characteristics influenced by Playboi Carti while still offering unique elements of their own. And with the Homoxide Gang (a duo of rappers also signed onto Opium) slowly rising through the underground, this label of Carti’s could demonstrate lasting power in the grander music scene and industry.

Expectations For Carti and His Upcoming Performance

There’s clearly a reason why Playboi Carti is always welcome and invited to perform at Rolling Loud. He’s proven to be an excellent performer and knows how to engage with his fans impressively while on stage. It’s hard to deny the energy his presence commands and exudes, and this should be no different for 2022’s Rolling Loud in New York. Will you be attending the festival this year? And are you excited to see Playboi Carti tear down the stage? Read more of FM Hip-Hop’s featured articles today.

Playboi Carti’s Set Gets Axed, Reason: Prevention of Crowd Surge

Many fans didn’t get the whole Playboi Carti experience this weekend at the Smoker’s Club Festival, as his set was abruptly cut short.

What Happened to Carti’s Set?

According to a source, Carti was two tracks in when his mic was cut off. Unfortunately, that was curtains. Although some fans might have been disappointed, the performance was axed for a good reason. Sources contend the crowd was getting too out of hand, and measures were taken.

The Details Please

Although warned, the crowd continued to impatiently press, according to the source. So, the group was cut off. As noted,

“The issues started when a group of people attempted to rush the VIP section of the performance but were quickly stopped by security. However, Instagram video footage shows the crows pressing forward against a barrier.

A zealous crowd and lack of attentiveness even in the face of oversight is a recipe for disaster.

No Need to Questions Why Carti’s Set Got Axed

Pointedly issues such as this led to the tragic events of Astroworld, of which Travis Scott is still held under scrutiny. Therefore, the vigilance in such cases is more than warranted. A prudent decision was made given the situation and a more thorough understanding of herd behavior. It was a measure that put protections in place for the artist and the crowd.

Overreaction or Nah?

The bad news was that what could have been an enjoyable experience was cut short. The good news, no lives were lost, no one was hurt, and no one saw jail time. Of course, some are wondering, did the staff overreact. While this is a determination that is easy to juggle as an armchair quarterback, at the point where taking action is required, it’s another situation.

Few would disagree that there is no such thing as an overreaction when dealing with the possibility of harm. Any lapse in judgment could have disastrous results. So, all in all, the decision was sound. How do we make that assessment? Things didn’t turn ugly, given the probabilities.

Carti Decision Proves Some Lessons Are Learned Hard Way

As life returns to a semblance of normalcy, the hope is people will learn from the past. For as said, those who don’t remember the lessons they are taught are doomed to repeat them. Sadly, looking at what began taking shape at the Smoker’s Club Festival, the community has a long road ahead. Unfortunately, it seems some lessons are learned the hard way. Kudos to the staff for acting to prevent a disaster in the making.

Iggy Azalea Maintains No Contact With Ex-Boyfriend Playboi Carti

It’s been a long time since we watched the relationship between two of Hip-Hop’s most polarizing artists turn sour. Yesterday, April 12th, Iggy Azalea aired out Playboi Carti on Twitter again & revealed that she purposefully doesn’t speak to Carti anymore. This is following a recent interview Playboi Carti did with XXL, where he claimed Iggy as one of the people he provides for & takes care of.

In her now-deleted tweets, it’s evident that Iggy found his interview answer humorous. Unfortunately, we’re watching this play out publicly, as the two have a young child together & are co-parenting. Take a look at Iggy’s initial reaction below:

Playboi Carti’s Exact Statement With Context

So what sparked this negative discourse online? As mentioned above, Playboi Carti is featured in XXL’s 2022 Spring Issue, which contains a very insightful interview with the “Whole Lotta Red” rapper. The specific question that led to Carti’s allegedly false response was about fatherhood experiences.

“I’m a father. You know what I’m saying? You know how it is having kids,” the Atlanta rapper stated at the start of his response.

“I just got responsibilities. I pay a lot of bills,” he then added. Carti then added he needs to “take care of my baby mom [and] take care of my son. There’s a lot of people I take care of. So, it’s like, I gotta keep doing it.”

Overall, seemed like Carti did have good intentions, but Iggy also isn’t in the wrong if he is lying about that.

Their Relationship Moving Forward

Iggy Azalea & Playboi Carti are so far removed from their former relationship that this news doesn’t change too much. Hopefully, these two can find the middle ground because co-parenting their son Onyx will only get more complex.

We don’t know who’s telling the truth, but the answer lies somewhere in the middle. In short, this is just another example of love evolving into negativity. Read more of FM Hip-Hop’s featured articles today.

Playboi Carti Hints At Joint Tour With Kanye West

After recently performing at Ye’s “Donda 2” listening event, Playboi Carti is also teasing a joint tour with the Chicago legend. In a deleted Instagram post, the Atlanta rapper shared a screenshot of messages between him & Ye. Interestingly, Kanye is the one that mentions the idea in their messages.

The chances of this potential tour happening are unlikely. Still, the Playboi Carti-Ye duo has been around each other a lot in recent years. In addition to hanging out, they’ve already done a handful of collaborations with each other, including a new one titled “Mr. Myiagi,” which isn’t officially out yet. You can read the texts & watch their most recent performance together below:

Carti’s Recent Touring Success

This tour would sell out massively throughout the country quickly. Imagine 2 of the largest & most rabid fanbases in Hip-Hop gathering together in one venue for 2 very unique artists. While Ye’s name would carry the most weight, Playboi Carti’s most recent tour for his critically acclaimed “Whole Lotta Red” album was successful.

The King Vamp tour was also nationwide, had sold out shows & received great reviews from concert attendees. Some would even say that the tour then helped many fans breathe new life into the album. Watch a clip from Playboi Carti’s King Vamp tour below:

Ye & Playboi Carti Expectations

In conclusion, would you go to this very potential tour? Do you think it will even happen at all? And what would you expect from Ye and Playboi Carti on a joint tour? Based on the clips above, I think it’s safe to say that a live show between the two would be energetic, artistic & chaotic. Read more of FM Hip-Hop’s featured articles today.

DaBaby Shows New Flow on Teaser Featuring NBA YoungBoy

Fans of DaBaby and NBA YoungBoy are noticing some “vamp” influences on an unreleased track.

DaBaby’s big reveal

Youngboy is gearing up for the release of his new mixtape. With the single “Fish Scale” dropping last week and ‘Emo Love‘ coming right off its heels, fans of the Baton Rouge rapper have reason to celebrate. This is especially the case if they’re also a fan of “Suge” rapper Dababy.

DaBaby posted a snippet of an unreleased song on Twitter yesterday, which is likely to appear on YoungBoy’s mixtape. The song, presumably titled “Call Da Fireman” isn’t the first time the two southern artists have joined forces however. Youngboy appeared on DaBaby’s third studio album Blame it on Baby, spitting a verse on the single “JUMP”.

https://twitter.com/dababydababy/status/1480033542805594115?s=10

“Reply w/ “YB better” 10,000x & we a go up tonight,” DaBaby wrote on his Twitter post.

Is DaBaby Copying Carti?

DaBaby has oftentimes been on the receiving end of criticism about his flow. People say that it hasn’t changed since his viral 2019 hit, “Suge”. He responded to the critics in an interview with The Breakfast Club April last year. “As far as switching the flow, I have no problem rapping circles around any one of these n***as. I couldn’t find myself entertaining that. I could joke about it just like I joke about everything else,” he said.

“… I’ll make a conscious album right now, I’ll record the whole s**t today. On some J. Cole vibes. Joyner Lucas. I can get in there too,” he continued.

With this new collaboration, seemingly comes a new style for both artists. Fans immediately picked up on the high-pitch, high-energy flow most notably used by Playboi Carti. Carti’s unusual style has been cited as an inspiration to many new artists like Coi Leray and Cochise. However, fans of YoungBoy and DaBaby don’t seem too happy with the change, and are voicing their discontent on social media.

Currently, there’s been no official release date or response to the criticism from either rapper.

Are YoungBoy and DaBaby really copying Carti? Listen for yourself and find out.

Juice WRLD’s Mother Finds Recent Leaks ‘Disrespectful’

The mother of Chicago rapper Juice WRLD has spoken out regarding the nonstop leaks of her late son’s unreleased music.

Juice WRLD’s Influence

Though Juice WRLD tragically passed away in December 2019 after only a few years in the industry, his body of work and his legacy have influenced rap music forever. Alongside peers like Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert, Juice WRLD pioneered a wave of “emo rap” on SoundCloud that inspired the current sound of mainstream trap. With all the attention Juice garnered during his time in the spotlight, it’s no surprise grieving fans have become fixated on his unreleased catalog.

Even before his death, fans have always found ways to release unreleased tracks to the public. While the practice is technically unlawful, Juice’s label Interscope Records hasn’t made any statements on the leaks. However, Juice’s mother Carmella Wallace is disapproving of the practice. On Monday (December 27), Juice’s mother spoke with XXL about her son, and the legacy he left behind.

A Protective Mother

“I understand they loved him. They loved his music, but there’s a proper way to do it,” Carmella said of the leaks. “Let us give you our best. Leaked music is not necessarily cleaned up music, it’s just leaked, it’s not finished. So, it’s just a lot of work just going into it. It’s a bit disrespectul to him, honestly, to leak his music like that. But I know that monster is there, been there and it’s not going anywhere. We can just do our part and put out good music.”

Interscope has released two posthumous albums since Juice’s passing: Legends Never Die in 2020 and Fighting Demons in 2021. TMZ reported last year that Juice Wrld had approximately 2,000 unreleased songs in the vault. In the report, the family detailed their plans for the songs.

“We plan to honor Juice’s talents, his spirit, and the love he felt for his fans by sharing unreleased music and other projects that he was passionately in the process of developing,” Juice’s family wrote.

Fans can continue to support Juice WRLD and his family by streaming any future posthumous projects from Interscope.

Playboi Carti No 1. On Rolling Stones Best Hip Hop Albums List; Twitter Reacts

It’s that time of year again; where people look back on the past 365 days and determine the best and worst. In that spirit, Rolling Stone released their list of the 20 best hip-hop albums of 2021  on December 15.

Albums that made the list included big names like Kanye West’s “Donda” at no. 13, Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy at no. 10, Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” at no. 6, and Tyler The Creator’s “Call me if You Get Lost”  at no. 3. Rolling Stone also highlighted critical darlings, placing Little Simz’s “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert” at no. 18 and Pi’erre Bourne’s “The Life of Pi’erre 5” at no. 9.

To many fans, none of that really matters, though. Who made no. 1 this year? Playboi Carti’s polarizing, super-charged “Whole Lotta Red.”

As with any subjective list, some people are not happy with the results, especially. since the album Rolling Stone chose was technically a 2020 album, released on Christmas Day.

Though the album was released in 2020, Rolling Stone argued it defined much of the music of 2021. Rolling Stone writer Jeff Ihaza writes:

“The week between its release and the start of [2021] is irrelevant when you think of what a seismic shift the album represents. Carti stakes ground in the current generation’s sonic sensibility and delivers one of the most forward thinking rap records since Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’… [‘Whole Lotta Red’s’] fingerprints are all over everything we heard in 2021.”

As far as this writer is concerned, let people like whatever they like. Just because they put something at number 1 that you don’t like, it is not the end of the world. People have different opinions and that is fine. In fact, it is even good that people do. It lets people change and grow. It is certainly better than being in a stagnant echo chamber. Kudos to Rolling Stone.

Rico Nasty Tweets Her Concerns Regarding Playboi Carti’s Tour

It looks like Rico Nasty may be having a hard time while on tour with Playboi Carti. She has been opening for Carti’s King Vamp Tour, which began in October. It’s unclear what transpired between Rico and his fans at its start. However, reports show that she got into it with them twice this month. Two weeks ago, she got into a nasty fight with one of his fans during her performance. Video also surfaced of them booing her less than a week before that. The booing transpired at Rico and Carti’s stop in Los Angeles, Calif.

Last night,  Playboi Carti and Rico Nasty performed at Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee. Earlier that evening, Rico sent out alarming tweets about the toll the tour shows took on her.

“I dead ass need at least two hours out of each day. To just cry,” she said. “Crazy how I wanted a tour bus my whole life, and now I just be on the tour bus crying myself to sleep every night.” She continued saying, “I wish I was dead just as much as y’all do trust me. Y’all win.”

She has deleted her tweets since.

Playboi Carti’s Tour With Rico Nasty

Rico Nasty’s experience on tour hasn’t seemed to be completely bad, though. On November 19, Playboi Carti brought her on stage with him during his set in Colorado. He also hugged her, seemingly as an apology for his fans’ repulsive behavior.

Rico attributes the reactions to her from the crowd to racism and sexism. “Anti black ass crowd. Weak ass little boys wit blonde pubes. Ugh . Get me out of here.” she tweeted on November 7. A few minutes later, she followed up with her frustrated comments saying, “Cause a real bitch getting paid regardless. Keep playing. Dickwheats.”

Hopefully, Rico Nasty finds the strength to keep going. She has quite a few more dates left before the tour ends in December.
