Popularity On The Web: New Study Ranks Most Googled Artists Across States And Countries

Wettfreunde has done some serious detective work, analyzing the past 12 months of Google search results (found by Google Keyword Planner) to uncover the most searched music artists worldwide. I can assure you; the results are spectacular!

One thousand artists, 189 countries, and a fierce battle for the top spot. Who came out on top? None other than the boy band BTS dominating as the most-searched artist in 42 countries! 🌟 But no worries, there are still a few countries out there that are still searching for the Beatles.

BTS are not the only ones leaving their mark! The late rapper XXXTentacion takes the runner-up position, prevailing in 31 countries.

And just behind, we have the queen herself, Rihanna, claiming the third spot with 29 countries under her belt. These artists are blowing the world away!

For instance, XXXTentacion’s single ‘SAD!’ was certified Diamond by the RIAA in the US.

And when “Work” climbed to #1 on the Hot 100, Rihanna became the first artist with chart-topping singles from seven consecutive studio albums.

Top 5 Movie Soundtracks That Dominated 2022

The soundtracks of movies often feature unforgettable and catchy melodies that heighten the emotional impact of a scene. In addition, music can effectively convey a certain mood or atmosphere to the audience, thereby improving the overall viewing experience of the film.

A study conducted by CasinoBonusCA examined the official soundtrack albums of the 50 most popular movies of 2022 on Spotify. The study tallied the number of streams for each song to determine which soundtrack was the most popular of the year.

1. “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”

Whitney Houston’s biographical film, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” has become a massive success, with the album garnering a staggering 2.5 billion streams.

The soundtrack features 35 songs, including some of Houston’s most well-known hits, such as “How Will I Know,”Saving All My Love for You,” and the eponymous song that inspired the movie’s title, which has received the most streams on the entire album, with almost one billion.

The album also features some of Houston’s lesser-known songs, such as “Impossible Things” and the emotionally powerful “My Love Is Your Love,” and has received widespread critical acclaim, solidifying Houston’s legacy as one of the greatest vocalists of all time, loved by both critics and fans alike.

2. “Top Gun: Maverick

“Top Gun: Maverick” takes second place on the list with a total of 1.4 billion streams. The filmmakers released the highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 hit movie on May 27, 2022, in North America, and Spotify dropped its soundtrack during the same week.

The album featured original tracks that gained popularity, including OneRepublic’s “I Ain’t Worried,” which alone amassed 733 million streams.

Additionally, the movie included classic songs from the original film, such as Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone,” which gained over 400 million streams. Kenny Loggins had previously rerecorded “Danger Zone” to make it suitable for commercial usage, such as in the 5.1 surround sound mix in the movie.

3. “Elvis”

“Elvis,” another biopic, takes third place with 508 million streams. The album includes 36 songs, featuring covers of Presley’s songs, remixes, and some original compositions.

The album for “Elvis” was released in October 2020 and achieved tremendous success. It topped the charts in countries worldwide, earning critical acclaim and praise from fans and critics alike. It also went on to be certified triple platinum in the United States.

4. “Don’t Worry Darling”

Furthermore, “Don’t Worry Darling” is ranked fourth on the list, featuring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, with 407 million streams. Although the album comprises only 13 tracks, it managed to capture audiences and secure a spot as one of the year’s most popular albums.

Its soundtrack contains musicians like Olivia Rodrigo, Finneas, and Kacey Musgraves, making it a notable achievement.

5. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”

The fifth spot in the top-ranking list is “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” with 382 million streams.

This soundtrack features original tracks by Ludwig Goransson, Rihanna, Burna Boy, and other notable artists. One of the standout tracks, “Lift Me Up,” written by Rihanna and others, recently received an Oscar nomination, further solidifying the soundtrack’s status as one of the best of the year.

Furthermore, the study found a remarkable surge in searches in the US for a ‘red jumpsuit’ after Rihanna’s performance, with a whopping 520% increase. Furthermore, the analysis discovered that searches for ‘red coat’ and ‘red puffer jacket’ rose significantly in the US, by 189% and 177%, respectively.
