Quando Rando Narrowly Escapes Los Angeles Shooting

Friday evening Aug. 19, the news suddenly broke out of Savannah rapper Quando Rondo being involved in a deadly shooting in upscale Los Angeles.

According to Rondo’s representatives, the 23-year-old made it out safe. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for his close friend that was with him at the time of the shooting.

“Quando was present during a shooting yesterday evening which resulted in the untimely death of another young man’s life.” A rep told TMZ early yesterday morning (Aug 20). They proceeded to confirm his stable condition. “He himself didn’t sustain any injuries during the shooting and is safe. We ask that his privacy is respected at this time”

The tragic incident occurred around 5:30 pm Friday in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles, adjacent to Beverly Hills. Quando and a close associate stopped at a gas station when shots were suddenly fired into the vehicle. The currently unnamed man was taken to a nearby hospital following the shootout where he, unfortunately, passed away.

In an intense video captured by ABC7, Quando can be seen visibly upset by the violent act and his friend’s subsequent death. For the young artist, the mental toll of Friday’s shooting is surely a heavy burden.

A Violent Day for LA

According to Los Angeles police, a white vehicle containing three suspects pulled up next to Quando’s black Escalade before shooting rounds into the SUV. The Cadillac Escalade quickly pulled off and stopped at the intersection of Santa Monica and San Vicente. Of course, authorities were swiftly contacted by witnesses nearby.

At this time, those three suspects are still at large. LAPD Lt. John Radke briefly spoke with ABC7 about the incident after the dust had settled.  “We don’t know why or how this happened,” he said.

“all we know is that the victim vehicle, they pulled up, they were pumping gas and it looks like they probably finished pumping gas and the suspects approached from the alley, got out of the car and started shooting at those victims,”

Sadly, Rondo is all too familiar with gun violence. In November 2020, he has notably involved in the shooting death of King Von. In a video captured by security cam, Quando and his crew can be seen getting into a physical fight with Von. Shortly after, a shootout ensued which claimed the Chicago artist’s life.

It’s unknown if the two events are related. but for now, it seems trouble can’t stop following Quando Rondo.

Quando Rondo Gets $1 Million From NBA Youngboy

NBA Youngboy gives Quando Rondo $1 million!  NBA Youngboy is fresh off a win in his gun case.  This gift apparently cheered Quando Rondo up as he is in the middle of a breakup with his girlfriend.  I guess he isn’t thinking about her as of right now.

Never Broke Again Takes Chicago

Quando Rondo is on NBA Youngboy’s record label, Never Broke Again.  Quando Rondo is also associated with Atlantic Records since Never Broke Again is under Atlantic.  NBA Youngboy is going on tour and will be stopping in Chicago.  His manager, Alex Junnier, confirmed the Windy City will in fact be the first stop.  We all know this will be something to watch out for as Youngboy and Chicago’s own Lil Durk have an ongoing beef.  Quando Rondo was allegedly involved with the murder of King Von, Lil Durk artist.  A fight broke out involving Von’s crew and Quando Rondo’s crew.  This led to King Von being shot and killed.  Rondo’s friend and fellow rapper, Lul Tim, is being charged with the murder.

Rondo vs. Durk

Lul Tim’s side supports him throughout all this, especially Quando Rondo.  This energy led Lil Durk to make the diss track “AHHH HA”.  Lil Durk threw shots at NBA Youngboy, Rondo, and associates in the song.  At this time, Lil Durk claimed the song to be #1 on YouTube, but that wasn’t the case.  Apparently, fans had to inform him that NBA Youngboy’s song, “I Hate YoungBoy” was actually the #1 song on YouTube.

Then, Quando Rondo took the time to chime in with fans to let Durk know too.  He posted on Instagram a screenshot of how many views “I Hate YoungBoy” received with the caption “Naw fucc n**** this real numbers”.  It’s hard to beat out NBA Youngboy on YouTube as he has been the most viewed artist on there for the past few years.  After releasing “I Hate YoungBoy”, in only 5 hours, it racked up 2 million times.

Last year, in an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee, Quando Rondo claims rappers don’t like him and NBA Youngboy. To explain, Rondo says it’s because they keep to themselves.  He claims people don’t like that they don’t move with the industry politics.  Apparently, Quando Rondo, NBA Youngboy, and crew are on a different type of time.

Quando Rondo Responds to Death Threats

Quando Rondo has been receiving death threats following the death of King Von

In an interview on Tuesday, rapper Quando Rondo sat down to talk about the impact of his affiliation in King Von’s death. Following the death of King Von in 2020, fans were quick to put blame on Quando Rondo for his affiliation with the event and his personal relationship with the killer. In the interview, he explains the bias in the community and the realness of what he raps about. He goes on to discuss loyalty, gang glorification in music, and what death threats really mean.

“Everybody mad. What the f***? But y’all still out here glorifying these [rappers]? It ain’t even no telling if these [rappers] really like that for real, especially if you don’t really know what the f*** going on.”

Quando Rondo comments on the double standard he faces in music. He explained feeling outcasted for participating in the culture he raps about while other rappers get praised for it. He goes on to say that in situations like King Von’s, he will always protect his own.

“Your homeboy. You grew up with him, this your ride or die, he helped you pay the bills… it’s love with y’all, y’all growing together, all that […] you the brand, I’m about to protect you by any means necessary.”

Quando Rondo explained how his relationships change because of his money and success. He reveals that the dynamic has left him unsure of what loyalty really means. He says that the only person he knows is loyal to him is his daughter because their relationship is outside of his money and success.

“I’m going home to my daughter and if I didn’t, God called me”

It is clear that Quando Rondo stands by his own and the choices he has made to protect those in his life. It is clear that the death threats from King Von fans will not change his mindset or his priorities.

Angela Yee Receives Backlash for Quando Rondo Interview

Power 105.1 Media Personality Angela Yee is in hot water because of her latest interview with rapper Quando Rondo.

In a 2-part interview titled; “November 6th”, Angela Yee speaks to Quando Rondo about the events that took place in Atlanta that night. Quando Rondo tells his side of the story from that evening. He tells the story of how the alleged altercation he was involved in ultimately resulted in the murder of Chicago rapper, King Von. The next day, Rondo associate; Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks was arrested for the shooting death of King Von. Lul Tim was recently released from prison on a $100,000 bond, and Quando celebrated his friend by purchasing him a luxury watch.

An interview of this magnitude is expected to spark interest and go viral. What is unexpected is the backlash Angela Yee is receiving for doing her job. Angela’s Breakfast Club co-host, DJ Envy claims to have received text messages regarding Angela’s safety after the interview went live.

Because of that, Envy tells Angela to be careful because she doesn’t want to mess with those young boys.

The topic eventually made its way to Clubhouse with a room centered around Angela’s Quando Rondo interview. Someone in the room went as far as to say Angela “could get touched” because she did the interview. I know Hip Hop culture has changed with today’s rappers. The reason for the interview is evidence of this change. But has the culture shifted so much that journalists are being threatened and are in danger of providing a platform for stories to be told? Unlike others, Angela Yee is a professional. She rarely, if ever speaks to someone with the intention to sensationalize a story or have a person incriminate themselves. As a professional, she is aware of the potential for a story to go viral, but that isn’t the goal when she sits down with them.

Does Angela Yee deserve the backlash she’s receiving? Do you think a journalist’s safety should be in danger because of what a subject says in an interview? Are journalist’s not supposed to provide a platform for everyone? Let us know in the comments.
