Wiz Khalifa Gives Insight On Why He Prefers Biggie Over 2Pac

Recently, Wiz Khalifa answered the one question that all rappers are asked sooner or later. Do you prefer Biggie or 2Pac? The Biggie vs 2Pac debate has been around since the untimely deaths of both icons. Hundreds of rappers from all over the world have answered this question. During an interview at SiriusXM earlier this week, DJ Whoo Kid asked Wiz Khalifa about his preference between Biggie and 2Pac. Since Wiz has spent the majority of his life living on both the east and west coast. Though Wiz gives proper respect to 2Pac mentioning his work ethic and attitude he ultimately sides with Biggie. He credits his decision to Biggie’s complex lyrics and how you can still listen to him in the present time. 

“Biggie. I like Biggie because lyrically like you could still listen to Biggie’s shit today and be like, ‘Wow, he really said that. He talks about clothes, like brands in a crazy way and he talks about cars in a crazy way and he talks about women. He’s just really poetic. That’s not to say one is better than the other,” he mentions. “But I just love how complex his bars are. Pac is raw, Pac is crazy, he’s hard.”

Wiz Khalifa’s Connection To The East And West

Wiz has a very unique connection between the East and West sides of rap. He grew up 400 miles west of Brooklyn, the Pittsburgh native has always shown an appreciation for Biggie. Even going as far as sampling the rap legend on a few of his own tracks. Songs like “Gin and Drugs” and “The Race” both sample the classic Biggie song “Going Back to Cali.” Wiz has his own music he is also currently working on as well. He says he is ready for the release of his experimental Multiverse album that comes out next Friday, July 29.

Cardi B Sprays Whipshots at Fans During Pride Parade

Cardi B joins West Hollywood in celebrating Pride month. The rapper spent the beginning of summer shooting her famous vodka-infused Whipshots into the mouths of fans while enjoying the three-day event.

In a video released online, Cardi sprayed a bunch of Whipshot all over one woman’s face. The accidental yet hilarious incident happened during the parade on Santa Monica Boulevard. In the video, Cardi is heard yelling, “Damn I got sh*t all over your face, sorry ma’am, sorry, sorry, sorry!”

Cardi Shows Support for LGBTQ Community Despite Past Homophobic Accusations.

During the event, Cardi flaunts a vibrant rainbow jumpsuit to show her support for Pride. Although haters would say the star has no sense of class, everyone seemed to be having fun and the fan didn’t seem to mind being sprayed.

Back in 2020, Twitter had claimed Cardi B “canceled” and accused her of being homophobic which she clapped back to say, “How the fuck am I homophobic or transphobic?” She continued, “have you been to a Caribbean island where you really see homophobia? Have you dealt with a parent that can’t accept you for your sexuality? I said some ignorant things b4 that apologized for & educated myself on it don’t mean I’m homo.” While the star has many family, friends and fans in the community, she opens up about her sexual experience as well saying she had questioned her interest in women and that she felt her cousin’s pain and confusion when he came out.

Other than the artist’s famous sister, Hennessy Carolina, who is also part of the LGBTQ community with her partner Michelle Diaz, Cardi has also shown love to her good friend Raven-Symoné over the years. The That’s So Raven actress has been married to her wife, Miranda Maday since June of 2020. The two even helped a same-sex couple officially tie the knot on their wedding day. Erykah Badu Surprises Fans With New Sonos Radio Station

The Queen of Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu, is expanding her dreamy musical universe onto the airwaves. Badu recently announced she’s launching her own Sonos radio station, BADUBATRON Radio.

The Grammy winning R&B legend has made numerous classics that have resonated with fans across the globe. Her captivating music focuses on exploring the mind, body, and soul in realms beyond earth. With the new radio station coming in October, she plans to take fans on a spiritually awakening journey experience that will expand their ears and minds.

Erykah Badu’s Promise

Erykah promised that she would take her fans out of this world with BADUBATRON Radio. She explained that her station will explore different genres, all focused towards demonstrating her energy and personal motives. A press release for BADUBATRON Radio described it as:

“A space where music genres are stars and the galaxy is filled with psychedelic funk, retro soul, classic rock, spiritual jazz and experimental hip hop. A trip to Badu’s curated station will take your mind exactly where it needs to go.”

As hip-hop and R&B fans know, Erykah is a creative and enlightening soul. Her essence, and the messages within her music, aim to do more than just entertain her listeners. Her music speaks candidly to issues such as women’s empowerment and systemic oppression. At its heart, her music explores human consciousness itself, and what it means to exist and build relationships in this life. We can only hope that by taking us further into her world with BADUBATRON Radio, Erykah Badu will also bring us closer to ourselves.

Erykah’s Other Ventures

Badu’s reach goes far beyond her music. Erykah is also involved in acting and producing, as well as perfume and incense making. In fact, her $50/pack incense sold out within minutes of its release. Badu has also found continued success with her collaborative projects. She works and has worked with some of the most historic names in R&B, including Outkast and The Roots. An important name in R&B history herself, Badu still continues to amaze her fans with her music and production. As the Queen of Neo-Soul, we can only imagine BADUBATRON Radio will further expand her magical kingdom.

SiriusXM Collab’s with SoundCloud for September

It is a great month for Hip-Hop! SiriusXM has collaborated with SoundCloud to launch SoundCloud Radio. This hip hop channel will be airing through Sept.30. The exclusive channel will air top songs from musical artists that got their start on SoundCloud. The channel will also shed light on new music, specifically by those getting their start on SoundCloud. Some popular artists that started on SoundCloud are: Doja Cat, Kehlani, Post Malone, 21 Savage, DJ Khaled and the hot girl herself Megan Thee Stallion, just to name a few.

Money Moves in this Collaboration

President of SoundCloud, Michael Weissman tells Cheddar Now “SiriusXM Holdings Inc. invested $75 million in audio platform last year”. I wonder how much some of our favorite artists will profit off of this? I don’t have the answers Sway! (In my Kanye West voice).

Those of you that know about SoundCloud might not know the whole story. SoundCloud was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 2007.  The company built an online audio platform so people that worked with music would be able to receive, send, and distribute their music. In 2014, SoundCloud received their first label deal with Warner and two years later sealed the deal with Merlin, Universal and Sony.  SoundCloud, a non-discriminatory platform, allows any and everyone to upload music! . FYI, SoundCloud dropped $15 million to help artists during the 2020 Pandemic.

Be on the Lookout!

Starting Sept.8 and ending Sept. 17, SoundCloud Radio will be available on the SXM mobile app and online. The station will be available via satellite and for everyday drivers, on SiriusXM channel 105. SoundCloud will be airing music from upcoming hip-hop acts such as, Fase Yoda, Lil Tecca, Rico Nasty and so much more!  R. Caiaffa, interim head of music at SoundCloud, said “The influence of SoundCloud’s young, diverse community of artists and fans in breaking music is unmatched and SoundCloud Radio is one more way to share their influence and incredible talent with even more fans”.

Tory Lanez alludes to the Megan Thee Stallion shooting on his Hot 97 freestyle

During an interview on the popular Hot 97 radio show, Ontario native Tory Lanez freestyled on an old-school beat. During his freestyle, Lanez alluded to the Megan Thee Stallion shooting he was involved in last year. He spits a few lines talking about how if the media hadn’t “framed” him for the shooting, rappers like Lil Baby, DaBaby, and Roddy Rich would have received awards for their collaborations with him.

“Shoutout to Dababy, Roddy Ricch, and Lil Baby. What I’m about to say is going to sound a little crazy, but it’s true so don’t play me. Y’all all would’ve got y’all awards if they never framed me”

Fans had a lot to say about these lines when the interview came out. Reactions were mixed, with many jumping to Megan Thee Stallion’s defense. Others agreed that the allegations held the mentioned rappers back from potential award nominations and that it was unfair to them. In the other four minutes of the freestyle, Lanez touches on other topics, talking about his success and growth in the past year, despite his involvements and cancellations.

“Oh Twitter, oh he cancelled, now I’m back here”

This is not the first time that he has referred to the allegations against him being false. Since the incident, Lanez has made attempts to turn the narrative against Meg and justify his innocence. Hopefully, in the near future, the issue will finally resolve and the questions surrounding the shooting can finally be answered. Regardless, Megan seems unbothered! She’s too busy appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit this week to respond to what Lanez had to say. As she should!

Meek Mill can now add political activist to his already impressive resume. The rapper is currently campaigning a new probation reform bill in Pennsylvania. He is working along Jay-Z, Van Jones, and Michael Rubin to speak for people who do not have a voice.

Following the announcement of his documentary “Free Meek”, the rapper is working to shed light on the problems in the criminal justice system. The bill the rapper proposed to lawmakers is to help keep people on probation and on parole out of the justice system. Meek wants to stop the government from giving someone multiple, consecutive probation sentences. The rapper does not just want to keep people off probation. Part of the proposed legislation will encourage law enforcement to reward criminals for good behavior.

This proposed legislation is following Meek’s documentary announcement. The Jay-Z produced documentary is meant to cover the rapper’s story of both his legal troubles and why he thinks it is an unfair system. The six part docuseries titled “Free Meek” will be available for streaming on Amazon this summer.

Logic’s Dangerous Mind

Logic is back again to give fans what they have always loved from the rapper. This past Tuesday, he posted on his Instagram account a video announcing his album titled Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. He accompanied the announcement with a video of him painted in blood. He posted the visual along with the fitting caption “I wrote this one in Blood”.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind will be Logic’s fifth studio album. This record is much anticipated after his fourth smash album YSIV. Logic is known for writing about important mental health issues such as depression. Critics and fans alike have praised the rapper for his willingness to bring awareness to these important issues. This album will be no different. According to his promo video, the upcoming single will feature actual tweets he has read when scrolling on social media. The album does not yet have an official release date. We just know that it is “coming soon”

Along with the new record, Logic will also be releasing a novel on March 26th. The book titled “Supermarket” is said to be a “darkly funny psychological thriller”. The rapper has also announced that a soundtrack will be released to go along with the book.

Meek Mill, the Philadelphia native, is moving from the recording studio to the big screen. The rapper announced he is partnering with Amazon to make a docuseries titled “Free Meek”. The docuseries will follow the artist’s fight for justice as he works to get his name cleared for violating his probation for a crime a couple years ago. Meek Mill says his goal is also to point out the flaws in the country’s criminal justice system.

Miss Bloody Moves is back!  Only now, her “bloody moves” got her “money moves“!  If the multi-platinum “Bodak Yellow” was her come up ballad, then this new joint, produced by JWhiteDidIt (the genius on the boards behind Bodak Yellow), “Money” is the sequel.  Using the same infectious formula that got her famous, the Bronx’s most “braziest” bad chick, Cardi B spits heat, fire and “money”(no pun intended) on this banger.  This track will get you bopping your heads, dancing, and singing along while getting to the bag.  I call this “Bag Motivation Music“. Lupe Fiasco Releases New Album Drogas Wave

Salutations and blessings from above FM Trendsetters! In midst of the 12th anniversary of his classic debut album, “Food and Liquor“, conscious Chicago emcee Lupe Fiasco releases another conscious and truth filled memoir entitled “Drogas (Spanish term for “drugs”) Wave“.  This album was released a few days ago and embarks on a journey through the concept of slavery, drugs, violence, and new found freedom in comparison with the perception of these subjects to this day, within the music industry and the world.  This concept is embodied in  the album art of a manilla, a bracelet-like form of currency used in the African slave trade with Portugal, and its shadow. Lupe draws a parallel between the manillas and African American culture throughout the album .  The artist’s relationship with God also plays a beneficial factor, as he expresses concerns and disdain within his reflective and prominent lyricism.  Here is an exclusive review of the tracks found on this album.
