Be ready to pay for the experience as the price tag attached to the VIP tickets will not be small. All tickers go on sale on May 18th, but if you’re lucky, you might catch a pre-sale for the Farewell Tour between now and then.

Why Have A Farewell Tour Now?

Scarface has had a couple of health scares over the last few years, especially after testing positive for covid-19 in 2020. The Houston native revealed the positive test during a live stream with another Geto Boy, Willie D.

“It started off with pneumonia in both of my lungs, and three or four days later, my kidneys failed,” Scarface shared. “I’ve been to the point where I felt I was gonna die.”

Eventually, Face was covid-19 free, but the effects of the virus left a lasting impact. The rapper was put on dialysis due to his kidney failure. The problem got so bad that Scarface needed a kidney transplant, and the kidney came from his son. The transplant has given Scarface enough energy to create a Farewell Tour.

Scarface could be slowing down because of these health scares. The Farewell Tour will be the last time rap fans will get to see Scarface perform his solo hits.

A Glimpse At Scarface’s Rap History

Scarface started as a solo artist in the rap game, but he gave that up to join the Geto Boys. The rap group formed with Bushwick Bill, Willie D, and Scarface at the end of the ’80s. The Geto Boys dropped hits like “Mind Playing Tricks On Me,” “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta,” “Yes Yes Y’all,” and “City Under Siege.” The Geto Boys had controversial lyrics that they never altered even after facing pushback. Now, the Geto Boys have a significant influence over gangster rap.

Don’t forget to buy your Farewell Tour tickets as soon as they’re out. Catch Scarface on stage with your own eyes.

Alicia Keys Smokes Blunt, Picks Rappers, and Tells Stories on “Drink Champs”

In this year alone, the hit show Drink Champs has racked up some memorable moments. Artists like French Montana, Wale, Krayzie Bone, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon have all made rounds. Most notable is perhaps the Kanye West visit. Extremely quotable, surprisingly insightful, and tons of chaotic fun, this one got viewers hooked. Their newest one will certainly give the Ye episode a run for its money, courtesy of special guest, Alicia Keys.

No coughing for Alicia Keys

The fifteen-time Grammy winner pulled no punches. She met hosts N.O.R.E and DJ EFN every step and every drink of the way. Indeed, even when it came to lighting up. When offered a primo blunt by her hosts and told it was fresh from “the mountains of Austria”, Alicia Keys just smiled and replied, “I would prefer the Dominican Republic.” Even so, Keys settled on a European one. However, she did have a concern: coughing. As she said, laughing:

“So… I’m not gonna be coughing and sh*t – I don’t wanna be coughing.”

Nevertheless, she struck up to the applause and cheers from the studio and her hosts. From there, the stories and takes came pouring out.

Keys impersonated her husband, Swizz Beatz, when explaining the roots of Verzuz.

Then came the takes, played in a game of “Truth or Drink”. Suffice to say, Alicia Keys has no problems with telling the truth when it comes to rappers. In short: Wayne over Drake, Scarface over Ice Cube, Outkast over Mobb Deep (though she said that was a hard one), and the big one, Ye over Pharrell. As Keys says, “Big love to Ye.”

It’s safe to say that Alicia Keys had an absolute time on Drink Champs. The entire episode, some two-and-a-half hours long, is up to watch. Earlier in the show, Keys went into detail about a particularly bizarre episode at the 2009 VMAs. Performing “Empire State of Mind” with Jay-Z, Keys says she was too in the zone to notice Lil Mama crashing the performance. Check it out here.

Scarface on Houston Farewell Show: “Done With The Rap”

All good things must come to an end. Scarface knows this all too well. In a storied and successful 33 year career, the Houston rapper can look back at a mountain of accomplishments. He can also reflect on his new lease on life. Last September, Scarface was effectively saved by his son Chris Jordan when he donated his kidney to save his father’s life. And so, aged 50, Brad Terrence Jordan (Scarface) is hanging it up, with one final show in Houston.

https://youtu.be/aOgMoLveg0M

Appearing on the Geto Boys Reloaded podcast with fellow Geto Boy Willie D, Scarface revealed that he is “done with the rap”.

“I was saying some good shit,” Scarface said. “I probably could never write like that again. But it’s a beautiful thing when you’re able to express yourself with words and people fall in love with your ability to deliver a story.”

But don’t think this is a negative. There certainly aren’t any tears shed by Scarface. In fact, he couldn’t be more excited. To him, it’s all a big victory.

“You know how you can just burn a lane? I burned the [Rap] lane. We did—we did it, Willie, we f*ckin’ did it, bro! We did it. Everything that we set to accomplish out there recording on the pool table with the f*ckin’ 4-track or 8-track with the microphone up against the wall? We made it, bro.”

Scarface certainly has made it. His 1994 album The Diary debuted at the No. 2 on Billboard and went on to be 2x Platinum Certified. 1997’s The Untouchable also went 2x Platinum and debuted at the No. 1 spot. In 2012, he was ranked as #16 in The Source’s “Top 50 Lyricists of All Time”.

So what’s next for the soon-to-be-former rapper? By his own words, getting into “a different lane of music”. Options on the table include blues, rock, and/or indie. “I want to something different now,” Scarface said.

We’ll keep an eye out for that Scarface indie-rock record @FMHipHop.

The Houston hometown hero will give his final rap performance on Friday, November 12 at The House of Blues in Houston.

Scarface Challenges Icecube to Verzus

Scarface Challenges Icecube to Verzus

Scarface challenges to Icecube to verzus. But in this situation, there is a twist to the challenge. Singers can create challenges and face-offs between themselves.  In an appearance with Geto Boys brethren Willie D on The Breakfast Club, Scarface challenged fellow rap legend Ice Cube to a Verzuz battle. Scarface wants Cube to play one of his own tunes.

I’ll do one with Cube on [the] solo [tip],” says Scarface added.

Cube has not announced what he will sing on the stage as Scarface wants Cube to sing one of his own tunes. To return the favor that Scarface will sing his favorite Ice Cube song.

Scarface also had more of a say about this up-and-coming challenge. “I’ll play all my favorite Cube shit; he’ll play all his favorite Face shit. I’ll beat him with that. I’ll kill him with the favorite Cube shit ’cause I got favorite Cube shit that can’t help anybody touch.”

Tune in on August 3rd for the challenge on Verzus.

Been Around Since The 1980’s

Due to the thoughtful, yet provocative subject matter and excellent wordplay they were known for, Scarface and Ice Cube were often compared since they both started their careers in the late ’80s. On Scarface’s third solo studio album, The Diary, Cube even appeared on the classic track “Hand of the Dead Body,” with the Houston icon returning the favor with a verse on Cube’s 2008 single “Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It.”.

Scarface Sounds Off On President

The legendary MC returned to social media to sound off on Pres. Donald Trump over the way he has handled the COVID-19 pandemic. Brad Jordan also known as Scarface (@BrotherMob) let the POTUS have it on twitter yesterday declaring that, “Anyone that casts a vote for you is a God damn fool” after Trump predicted victory in the upcoming elections.

The Deeply Rooted legend continues with, “You are an absolute moron. You have failed this country miserably. The blood of 152 thousand Americans are on your hand you self-centered lunatic.”

The Geto Boys frontman is one of many American citizens who have voiced displeasure with how  President Trump has handled the pandemic.  An aspiring politician himself, some would look at this as political posturing. Face Mob came close to being on Houston’s city council after losing to Dr. Carolyn Evans-Shabazz in a runoff back in 2019.

It should be noted that Scarface has recently recovered from COVID-19. On March 26, 2020 he revealed that he tested positive for the virus.

The Untouchable great ended his rant with “You really think people like you?? Naaaa bruh…” He’s only saying what most of us are thinking: F*** You Too, Donald Trump. Peace to the God Scarface!
