As the Astroworld turns

It’s been a month since Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival took place at NGR Park in Houston. According to sources, Travis Scott’s festival is one of the deadliest concerts in United States history. The festival left eight people dead and some injured.

Fans that died at the festival range from nine years old to twenty-seven years old. Travis Scott took to social media to offer his sympathy for the lives that were lost at his annual festival in his hometown. Travis also reached out to the family of nine-year-old Ezra Blout to cover funeral costs. Blout’s family declined the offer. He died from life-threatening injures at the festival that led him into a coma.

There have also been lawsuits against Travis and Live Nation. Live Nation’s other popular artist, Megan thee Stallion, canceled her Houston concert to honor the lives that were lost at Astroworld. The H-Town hot girl herself said “Houston is still healing, and it’s important that our community be given the appropriate time to grieve”.

Disaster waiting to happen

Fans learn that a disaster was waiting to happen at the Festival, on November 5th.

According to The Houston Chronicle, security roles were thirty an hour for two 16-hour days. The role did not require training or a security guard license. The lack of protocols put fans in danger during an event that was supposed to be the time of their lives, not the end of their lives.

“The Houston police chief met with Travis and his head of security before the show began, over concerns about public safety” said Robin Roberts from Good Morning America.

Before the concert even started, fans trampled over other fans and security guards to get to Astroworld Festival’s stage. Things only worsened once the festival started. Some fans were pushed and trampled so severely that it was hard for them to breathe. A few of them became unconscious while being pushed into barricades. One teen relives the traumatic experience at Astroworld Festival saying, “I came to the point I was accepting my death.”
