Yella Beezy Challenges Industry Peer’s To Be About What They Rap About, “Enlist!”

Published

on

Yella Beezy recently used the current political climate as an opportunity to issue a challenge to his industry peers. In a post, Beezy was frank in his challenge to artists, daring them to live out what they rap. In his words,

All that killing y’all doing over them beats…….GO join the service

He was dead serious.

Beezy Draws from Intensity of the Moment

We are living in an intense time where violence is an upswing. There is an increase in violence on American soil. The global landscape is also seeing an advancement in conflict. The violent nature of Drill music and its associated deaths has taken center stage.

A few weeks ago, FM Hip Hop reported about an initiative undertaken by the NYC mayor to transform the current climate. The recent tragic death of Young C-HII Wvttz tipped the scales. However, the mayor is not the only one making moves towards transformation.

According to a source, DJs are also joining forces to be a power of transformational change. For example, as the source notes, several radio DJs came forward to say that they would no longer play records where rappers named their enemies and called for violence.

No one can deny these are valiant efforts.

Global Conflict

The Global conflict between Russia and Ukraine has given people pause. The undercurrent speaks of the uncertainty of times ahead. The total of all events is having a massive impact, especially on a society that has spent the last few years in a pressure cooker situation.

Brings to recall the question, when is enough enough? In this situation, the scales begin to tip when the global landscape reflects a level of conflict wherein unity becomes an absolute necessity.

Global Conflict’s Role in Beezy’s Statement

It is believed that Beezy’s challenge stems from the global escalation. With frustration building and the ever-present threat looming larger than life, sentiments boil over. Based on Beezy’s expression, he is fed up and believes artists who focus on violence in their lyrics could solve the distressing events that are unfolding.

As Beezy boldly proclaims,

“Your calling is finally here …. YOU CAN FINALLY PROVE TO THE FANS U BOUT THEM LYRICS.”

Now that is a bold challenge.

Will he be taken seriously?

Beezy’s Point

Beezy makes a great point. If violence is someone’s calling card, why not channel it in a manner that benefits the whole. So no one can deny the solid nature of this rationale. Undergirding Beezy’s argument is the understanding that senseless killing over a set, of lyrics helps no one. However, given the nature of the outburst, timing, and target audience, the artist’s statement will likely fall on deaf ears.
