On September 20th, the 24-year-old Zendaya wins an Emmy for her lead role in HBO’s series Euphoria.
Zendaya has made a mark in history with winning the Emmy award for lead actress role in series Euphoria. She was the youngest nominee in the category outstanding lead actress in a drama series. Actresses such as Jennifer Aniston in The Morning Show and Sandra Oh in Killing Eve were nominees.
In addition, to Zendaya being the youngest black woman to receive the award she holds the title with Viola Davis. This was her first nomination at the Emmy Awards, and prior to her receiving the award the actress celebrated a birthday.
When the Oakland native actress received the award she was in an urge of tears and was accompanied by family, friends, and her team. During her speech, she acknowledged The TV Academy, the HBO network, 2020 nominees, and the Euphoria cast.
In the conclusion of her beautiful speech, she left words of encouragement to her peers that are in the industry.
“But I want to say there is hope in the young people out there” and “To my peers out there doing work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you.” said Zendaya.
On the night of the Emmy Awards, Zendaya posted a picture with her Emmy Award.
“Still don’t really have any words….feeling so much love right now, thank you” said Zendaya via Instagram.
While the young talented actress shocked the world with this great achievement, the media and celebrities were going insane. Celebrity fans such as R&B group Chole x Halle, singer Kehlani, and filmmaker Ava DuVernay, expressed their excitement for Zendaya.
Ava DuVernay responded to Zendaya post saying “So much love out here for you. We screamed. We smiled,We soared with you! Feel that. Embrace it. Let it fuel all your dreams. We can’t wait to watch all the wonderful things to come. 🦋” via Instagram.
