Jay-Z Kills his Ego on 4:44 Kill Jay-Z Footnotes

The Footnote releases of of Jay-Z’s 4:44 album streaming now on Tidal has definitely proven to be the best behind the scenes insight given behind a project; let alone a Jay-Z Project. Jay along with his Wife Beyonce’ are known for going the extra mile when it comes to giving a visual piece to their work. Even going back to the late 90’s when Jay released “Cant knock the hustle” he has always managed to make the videos for his projects as artistic and realistic as his music. The Footnotes for “Kill Jay-Z” as well as the few released prior have not missed a beat!

On “Kill Jay-Z” Footnotes Jay speaks on killing his ego and allowing himself to be vulnerable vs what the public persona of him may be. Jay stated that on the track he had to separate Jay-Z from Shawn Carter in order to be able to speak to his ego and kill it. How do you balance your accolades and your ego? knowing that you may be the greatest to ever do it and maintain being humble.

“When My Ego has Helped me? and When My Ego has hurt me?”

“Kill Jay-Z” features commentary from Chris Rock, Charlamagne Tha God, Trevor Noah, Anthony Anderson, Van Jones, and Michael Che, each expressing how their Ego has either been a hindrance to them or how their ego has actually assisted them to their current level of stardom. A gift and a Curse your ego can either be your best friend or your greatest enemy. The real question is what would you have to do to Kill it?
