The hype surrounding the Juice WRLD documentary has been gaining momentum since 2020. Two years ago, Lil Bibby spoke to a major publication hinting at the release of an upcoming Juice WRLD documentary. But on Friday, September 24th, Lil Bibby went live on Twitter with an update.
During what appeared to be a car ride, Lil Bibby made an announcement that the premiere of the Juice WRLD documentary would air this year for sure. According to Lil Bibby, Juice WRLD will drop this year, alongside the accompanying album, although indicating the album’s name may need tweaks.
Keeping the music alive
In December of 2019, the hip-hop world tragically lost the promising up-and-comer hip hop artist Juice WRLD. According to aceshowbiz.com, in 2019, Juice was the recipient of a Billboard music award for the top new artist. In 2020, he took home an American Music Award for favorite Male Artist in Rap/Hip-hop. But sadly, at the age of 21, the artist fatally lost his life to an accidental overdose. A 2020 article on BBC.com went on to state that, “According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office: “Higgins [Juice WRLD] died as a result of oxycodone and codeine toxicity,” and “the manner of death is an accident.” Although gone, Juice is certainly not forgotten. His talent lives on through his music. And he has a team making it their mission to keep the torch he lit burning.
True talent like Juice WRLD’S is inextinguishable
The documentary is not the first of Juice WRLD’s body of work to be released after his death. In 2020 Juice’s team took the step to release his first posthumous project. And the reception of the project was stellar. According to The Source magazine, “Legends Never Die” made its debut at the top of Billboard charts in 2020,” proving that legends go on to live through their art. And the documentary is another display of Juice’s capabilities.
The Juice WRLD documentary is part of a larger talent showcase
“Music Box” is an HBO Feature series. The series is an exploratory music series that, according to Variety, examines historic and pivotal moments in music through documentaries. And the Juice WRLD documentary will be one of the titles to fall under the umbrella series. As Variety further notes, the Juice documentary will explore how the artist was able to shape and influence the hip-hop genre during his short time in the spotlight.

Lil Bibby did not mention an exact date for the documentary release on his Twitter live feed. However, with the assurance of the documentary’s 2021 premiere, fans can get ready to experience a bit more of the gift Juice brought to the world.
