Whether it is his long-shot campaign for president or his recent battle with record labels, rapper and fashion icon Kanye West is no stranger to controversy. Amidst a new Twitter rant yesterday, West expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of diversity and representation at several major companies.
He repeatedly called to be given a board position at Adidas, stating in a since-deleted tweet, “I’M WEARING JORDANS TILL I’M ON THE BOARD OF ADIDAS.” West then took things a step further, tweeting “My first pillar when I’m on the board of adidas will be an adidas Nike collaboration to support community growth.”

West has a history working with both companies, beginning with the launch of Nike’s Air Yeezys in 2009. However, his tumultuous relationship with Nike lead him to sign a contract with Adidas in 2013. This spawned the incredibly successful Adidas x Yeezy fashion line and ultimately propelled his net-worth into the billions. While a collaboration between Nike and Adidas is extremely unlikely given their decades-long rivalry, West is on a mission to do the impossible once more.
