Lately, Kanye West has been on a break from Instagram due to his issues with Pete Davidson. But today, Ye announced his return to the platform in a surprising turn of events.

Though fans assumed Kanye’s return to Instagram would have something to do with his new song with XXXTentacion, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Instead, his latest post is related to a new venture with McDonald’s involving business packaging.

Kanye’s posts on Instagram

The image in Kanye’s post shows a simple burger box with a minimalist graphic of the golden arches on top. The design is a unique take on the OG McDonald’s brand, but its future usage remains unclear.

“Ye teams up with legendary Muji industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonald’s packaging,” the caption reads.

Kanye also took to his Instagram story to share the design with the caption “Next week it’s the fries.” The line is a lyric from Ye’s 2005 track Gold Digger. Before posting the photo, Kanye had a since-deleted story with the same image published in the New York Times.

This isn’t the first collaboration between West and McDonald’s. Back in February, Ye made a cameo in a McDonald’s Super Bowl commercial. In the ad, the rapper pulls up to a drive-thru on an ATV, delivering the famous line “Can I get uhhhhh.” The commercial also featured NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace and the giant purple mascot Grimace, voiced by Ryan Reynolds.

Kanye’s week in preview

In terms of music, it’s also a big week for Kanye. On Friday, his song True Love from Donda 2 featuring XXXTentacion will be released to streaming services. It’s unclear on whether or not the song has been reworked from the standard version. The song will also be featured in X’s posthumous album Look At Me, as well as the credits of his Hulu documentary.

A post on X’s Instagram alludes to the song being “FROM THE FORTHCOMING ALBUMS,” giving fans a hint that more work will come from Donda 2 in the future.
