Grammy-winning rapper Kid Cudi has decided to say good-bye to social media. On Saturday(Mar. 19), he vented on Twitter that he wants to separate from all platforms.
“I’m turnin’ off all comments on IG for all posts,” he tweets. “And I’m thinkin’ about gettin off IG all together, honestly. Think I’ma just keep my Twitter. And I’m only gonna do that cuz I have to. I really wanna get off all socials.”
Years ago, Kid Cudi took a break from social media following rehab. Then, he checked into rehab due to experience dealing with stress, anxiety, and suicidal urges. The negative energy is overwhelming, and he prefers to remove himself.
Cudi Focuses On Mental Health
Cudi shares that he is in a good mental condition to clear the air of all potential speculation. However, he prioritizes self-care by not allowing outside influences on social media to derail his path. Instead, he will let his team take over his social media from here on out.
“And no im not in a bad mood or in a fucked up place im actually very happy!!,” Cudi tweets. In order to maintain that, im steppin away. I like being a mystery anyway.”
Cudi notifies his Instagram followers that he is leaving the platform as well. He shares one final photo of himself.
“So I think that pic is my last post. From here on out I’ma have my team make posts,” he writes. “I love y’all. This was fun. Until it wasn’t.”
Celebrities Absent From Social Media
Kid Cudi is neither the first nor last celebrity to separate from social media. Numerous public figures adhere to social media absence. For instance, J. Cole’s team runs his Instagram. Therefore, he will rarely make an appearance. However, when he does, his social media presence is significantly felt. Other artists such as ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar have blank Instagram accounts. Lastly, Jay-Z does not have an Instagram account.
Essentially, everyone has reasoning for having social media or not. For Cudi, the intention is to maintain mental health, which is reasonable. Cheers to Kid Cudi for putting himself first.
