The Long Awaited Space Jam: A New Legacy Has a Plot
It’s been 24 years since the family feature classic, Space Jam, appeared on screen with cultural icon Michael Jordan. Following the tale of the basketball legend getting stuck in the Warner Bros. universe with cartoon star Bugs Bunny and many other Looney Tunes creatures, the movie has been a classic for decades.
Naturally, it makes sense that the only star that could follow in Jordan’s footsteps is current, NBA MVP legend, Lebron James. Space Jam: A New Legacy was announced over 6 years ago and has been quickly picking up steam over the last 2 years, slated to hit screens July 2021, 25 years after its predecessor’s release.
Every few months a new window into the film is announced. In August, a preview of the uniform of the new team was revealed. Naturally it’s an homage to the iconic target costumes of the 1996 classic.
The newest development in the progression of the film is the surfacing of a plot. According to a leaked source on twitter, the plot will be far more extravagant than expected. Reportedly it is to follow James and his son navigating the wacky Looney Tunes’ universe leading to a final basketball showdown.
During the pandemic, it’s hard to properly gage an exact progression of a film but it still appears to be slated for its July release. 90’s kids everywhere should prepare.
