Nicki Minaj has received yet another award for her megahit single “Super Bass,” first released over ten years ago. Minaj has always been regarded as a GOAT in the rap game by fans and colleagues. Now, the smash hit from Pink Friday’s deluxe edition has been certified Diamond by the RIAA. “Super Bass” was a Pop-Rap crossover that reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 list in 2011 and remains a fan favorite today. On Tuesday, Young Money’s First Lady shared a video on Instagram showing off her fresh new diamond plaque while “Super Bass” played in the background along with a letter to her fanbase.
Nicki Minaj Joins Exclusive Group with Diamond Certification
“Super Bass” is only the second track ever by a female rapper to earn diamond certification. Cardi B, Nicki’s former rival, was the first to accomplish this milestone earlier this year, when her 2017 song “Bodak Yellow” passed 10 million sales back in March 2021. Nicki is the eighth rapper to have a solo diamond single, joining Drake, Eminem, Kanye West, Travis Scott, Fetty Wap, the late XXXTENTACION, and, of course, Cardi B, according to Chart Data. Kanye’s 2007 Graduation smash “Stronger” helped him gain entry to that exclusive group just a few months ago.
Congratulations to Nicki Minaj on this history-making achievement.
