Nigo, a Japanese fashion designer and founder of BAPE, just dropped his compilation album, I Know NIGO! on Friday. It’s also his first album since Nigo’s 2005 project, “Nigo Presents: Return of the Ape Sounds.”

The record features Kid Cudi, Pusha T, Clipse, Pharrell, and Gunna, to name a few. Yesterday, he put out the video for “Heavy” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, and there is plenty of ice in this one!

The footage shows Nigo and Lil Uzi Vert with A$AP Rocky (also on Nigo’s album) living it up in the Jacob & Co. jewelry store. They go through the store surrounding themselves with lavish jewels, and try them on.

The Culture Loves Nigo

Uzi and Nigo go back more than a decade. They teamed up for a collection that included “Baby Pluto” themed shirts, cups, pillows, and hoodies for the brand Human Made. Not only with Uzi, but Nigo has been a part of the Hip-Hop culture for years! Thanks to being friends with Jacob The Jeweler, who helped him meet Pharrell, Nigo’s first rapper relationship.

Nigo then founded the BAPE streetwear line, which became instantly popular in the culture, with artists like Ye, Pusha T, and Busta Rhymes wearing the brand.

Before selling BAPE, he also opened the brand Human Made, another successful streetwear line. People discussed Nigo so much, he almost seemed like a myth. Rappers had to go to Japan to check him out, and they did!

Music & Fashion

Nigo has been busy lately as he also has worked with Tyler, the Creator. They just released a video last week for their song “Come On, Let’s Go,” as both artists use their creative genes to bring the piece to life for fans. Although he is involved in music, fashion is Nigo’s bread and butter. He is now artistic director of Kenzo and prepares to release his third KENZO SS22 titled “Denim Broke Flower.”

Kenzo Takada, the late founder of Kenzo’s French luxury brand, coined the flower while Nigo designed the denim. Nigo’s vision brought Takada’s flower to life, making several pieces for this collection. The third season consists of clothing for men and women, but most of the garments will be unisex.

Denim jackets, denim trousers, and oversized t-shirts are a few things Nigo made for the collection and will be available in stores and online on April 2.
