So far, they’ve arrested and detained a suspect related to the case a day before the memorial ceremony. The man, namely Adam Joseph Drake, has been charged with first-degree murder. The 31-year-old man will now make appearance in the Supreme Court in Halifax on Monday.

This shocking news grabbed everyone’s attention worldwide as they all mourned the death of the Hip-Hop Star along with his partner and 2 kids. Malyssa, his wife posted a message on social media to share her grief: ”Someday I’ll say something special. But right now, I’m living in a nightmare. Please know the tremendous amount of love and support has been helping me and the kids so much. Thank you for everything.”
Pat’s friends launched a fundraising campaign entitled GoFundMe to help his family. Up to $34,000 was collected to accommodate the funeral. Although, they have a goal to amass $100,000. The fundraiser shared a thought about the latter, saying: “Pat Stay was a very honorable man who was on his way to a bright future. Our heart hurts for his family and friends at this time so we hope to help ease some of the pain by ensuring his family has help through this process. He has been taken from the world far too soon and many will be devastated forever.”
Artists’ Tribute to Pat
The Hip-Hop world has been a deep shock since the tragic incident as they took on social media their eulogies and posted their memoires.
First on list is Drake who commented on one of Pat’s songs telling:
“Pat Stay’s definitely one of, if not, the best.”
He also shared on his Instagram:
“RIP to the Sucka Free Boss @patstay_902 one of my fav rappers ever,”
Even the Legendary famous rapper Eminem twitted:
“One of the best battlers of all time”
No doubt, Pat’s definitely been an influential artist in the industry and left a big mark in the history of HipHop. Besides that, we also miss the presence of the big rapper 2pac who was assassinated in the very same month.
Another on list is American Record Producer Alchemist who paid his tribute by saying:
“Battle Rap icon and king. I can moonwalk with steel toe boots on’ Rest in peace Pat Stay. Battle Rap icon and king. If u know me u know I always thought, he was the best. I’m hurt,”
An artist on list who’s still mourning Pat’s death tremendously shared his sorrows on Instagram with a post where he’s seen together with Stay.
Moreover, Immortal Technique tweeted:
“Rest in Power Pat Stay. I may not have known him as well as many other of my friends who are broken and in a lot of pain. But I met him in passing and he was a cool down to earth dude.”
Rapper Chris Webby didn’t see that coming at all and to his distress wrote in his turn:
“I just keep sayin nah that’s not possible over and over in my head. @patstay man.. I’m such a fan of your work in the rap battle space, but I became a huge fan of who you are a person. So solid, such a big heart, so f***in hilarious, and so much love and respect for hiphop,”
The Game Implication
Days before his death, Stay shared a music video “The Game DISS” ft Kaleb Simmonds – ‘Warm up’ and took on his Instagram addressing the fellow rapper with a new post. This single was thrown to him as he recently criticized Eminem in his song “The Black Slim Shady”. While Pat simply challenged him to a rap battle, the artist found it easier to block the latter and keep an arm’s length. Bizarre as it is, since The Game said he would never block anyone as it would be losing a fan.
3 days before his death, Stay posted a picture of himself on Instagram and wrote respectively: “Imagine if we treated all of our friends and loved ones as if we knew their days were numbered.” A last message that shall dwell in our hearts forever.
