Quavo Claimed Migos Inventing Triplet Flow

Published

on

In an interview for the Bleacher Report on September 13th, Migos’s member Quavo honored his band with the invention of triplet flow. Responding to Taylor Rooks’s question on Migos’s impact on culture, Quavo pointed out “the triplet flow, for sure.” Wasn’t nobody doin’ it before we came in, and right now, everybody’s doing it,” the rapper explained. “The cadence, the flippin’ it, whippin’ it. That’s what everybody loves to this day… 2014, I was the most influential rapper.”

In the same interview, Quavo also talked about the lack of recognition. He said he misunderstands the new artists, who “come out and say different people influenced it and don’t say the Migos.” “Because even the people they naming that influenced them, I know for a fact we influenced them, too,” the Migos member assured.  At the same time, Quavo understands freshmen, who “don’t want to come in being new and saying you took somebody’s style.” After all, “you don’t know how people will take it.”

Old School Triplet Flow Fans’ Response to Quavo

Quavo’s bold statement caused a backlash among the 90s hip-hop fans. People, who listen to the 90s Memphis Rap, went on social media to comment. For example, someone tweeted that “Quavo needs to do his research on the triplet flow. There were groups like Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs that were doing that flow way before Migos. There’s a reason why they don’t get props for it.” Meanwhile, someone on Taylor Rooks’s Instagram page also responded to Quavo with “bruh ‘invent’ lmao took that flow straight from Lord infamous.”

Just a couple weeks ago, Quavo and Saweetie were happily spending time together, five months after the messy break-up. Like with the triplet flow, the Migos member and his ex-girlfriend exploded the social media.  Be sure to read more about it here.
