Last month Snoop Dogg took ownership of Death Row.  He acquired the label from MNRK Music Group and wants the label to be made into an NFT (non-fungible token).  On Clubhouse, Snoop mentioned he wanted to be involved with the metaverse:

“We will be putting out artists through the metaverse,” he said, Just like [Death Row] broke the industry when we was the first independent to be major, I want to be the first major in the metaverse.”

Fans Want The Music Back

He removed all Death Row songs from popular streaming platforms such as Apple, Spotify, and TIDAL.  Doggystyle, Dogg Food, and The Chronic are just some of the albums not available.  2Pac’s albums are the only artist from Death Row that are still available on all platforms.  Fans found this out and weren’t happy with this.  Yesterday, in a Reddit thread is where fans discussed the missing albums.

Snoop Dogg Loves NFTSs

Snoop is getting accustomed to the NFT world.  In September of last year, he has been collecting digital tokens under the fake name “Cozomo de’ Medici”. He has reportedly made over 10$ million in NFTs.  Snoop even has his own NFT collection which he launched in March of last year.  That collection includes a new song, “NFT” as well as Snoop Dogge Coins.  On 4/20, the Nyan Cat meme artist worked with Snoop and they created the Nyan Dogg NFT.

Snoop’s new album ‘Bacc on Death Row’, is available on all streaming services, but he also partnered with Gala Games, a blockchain gaming platform to release the album on blockchain as well.  Snoop has “stash boxes” that cost $5,000 to purchase at the Gala Music Store which includes one song off the new album.  “Stash box” holders can expect many perks such as new music, concert, films, and songs that have the potential to increase in value.  Snoop’s on to something, he must know something we don’t.

No Show For The Bored Ape Yacht Club

The popular NFT collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club, had many of its users think that there was going to be a BYC sighting during the Super Bowl halftime show.  There was speculation on Twitter that there must be an ape sighting since half time performers Eminem and Snoop both own Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.  Over the past year, Bored Ape Yacht Club has been everywhere mostly seen on Twitter avatars of rappers such as Meek Mill, Lil Durk, and Lil Baby.  It’s understandable why fans of BAYC would expect to see a Bored Ape.

It is so popular that some sports betting websites allowed fans to bet if a Bored Ape would make an appearance during the game.  Maybe Snoop had planned to do something with Bored Ape Yacht Club, but it fell through.  He’s been ahead of the game with these NFTs, so I’m sure he thought about that.

Snoop has been involved with this new technology and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon.  One thing about this man, he sure does stay busy!
