Pooh Shiesty, who reportedly shot Brandon Cooper in the buttocks in October 2020, plead guilty to a gun conspiracy charge.
FM Hip Hop revealed a short time ago that Pooh Shiesty was in negotiations to work out a plea deal with the federal prosecutors. And we are back with an update.
The Outcome Of Hearing
Today, the reports came that an a plea bargain took place in the Pooh Shiesty gun conspiracy case. According to Washingstonnewspost.com, Judge Lauren Fletcher Louis, who also presided over the hearing, accepted Pooh Shiesty’s plea deal. And with Shiesty’s new guilty plea, supposedly, his sentence will be reduced to eight years.
Pooh Shiesty Plead Guilty But Shows Optimism
Fans were riding a wave of anticipation, waiting for the result of the plea bargain. The rapper expressed extreme optimism about the outlook of his sentencing in the song released while behind bars. In the lyrics of “Federal Contraband,” Shiesty then said,
“Imma be back in a minute, won’t be too long til’ I’m free,”
Also given the acceptance of his plea, he’s probably feeling more assured. As a result, life in prison is no longer looking like a possibility.
Hold On Wait A Minute
While the guilty plea deal seems like a victory in Pooh Shiesty’s favor, an eight-year sentence is not set in stone. According to Judge Louis.
“The recommended sentence of 8 years is not guaranteed at his future hearing with Chief Judge K. Michael Moore.”
So, perhaps it’s a little early to celebrate.
A look back At The Incident
In October 2020, a man driving a rented McLaren went by a hotel firing shots. One of the bullets fired ended up in the buttocks of the victim Brandon Cooper. A source notes investigators later found evidence linking the rapper to the crime.
A Louis Vuitton back with $40,000 cash fell out of the driver’s seat of the McLaren. Investigators linked the money back to Shiesty by matching the serial number on one of the bills to a $100 he posted on his Instagram account days before the incident.
Let’s Make One Thing Clear About Pooh Shiesty’s Guilty Plea
Pooh Shiesty’s guilty plea is not necessarily an admission of guilt. However, with the plea, several charges were dropped.
“His about-face and conviction on Count 1, conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes, led prosecutors to ditch the other three counts in his updated indictment.”
With the ditching of those charges also came a reduction in maximum sentencing. Given the evidence against him, making the plea was an intelligent move.
However, since the plea still does not guarantee him an eight-year sentence, we will have to wait to see the outcome. FM Hip Hop will keep you updated.
