Pooh Shiesty Pleads Guilty In Hopes Of Getting A Reduced Sentence

Pooh Shiesty, who reportedly shot Brandon Cooper in the buttocks in October 2020, plead guilty to a gun conspiracy charge.

FM Hip Hop revealed a short time ago that Pooh Shiesty was in negotiations to work out a plea deal with the federal prosecutors. And we are back with an update.

The Outcome Of Hearing

Today, the reports came that an a plea bargain took place in the Pooh Shiesty gun conspiracy case. According to Washingstonnewspost.com, Judge Lauren Fletcher Louis, who also presided over the hearing, accepted Pooh Shiesty’s plea deal. And with Shiesty’s new guilty plea, supposedly, his sentence will be reduced to eight years.

Pooh Shiesty Plead Guilty But Shows Optimism

Fans were riding a wave of anticipation, waiting for the result of the plea bargain. The rapper expressed extreme optimism about the outlook of his sentencing in the song released while behind bars. In the lyrics of “Federal Contraband,” Shiesty then said,

“Imma be back in a minute, won’t be too long til’ I’m free,”

Also given the acceptance of his plea, he’s probably feeling more assured. As a result, life in prison is no longer looking like a possibility.

Hold On Wait A Minute

While the guilty plea deal seems like a victory in Pooh Shiesty’s favor, an eight-year sentence is not set in stone. According to Judge Louis.

“The recommended sentence of 8 years is not guaranteed at his future hearing with Chief Judge K. Michael Moore.”

So, perhaps it’s a little early to celebrate.

A look back At The Incident

In October 2020, a man driving a rented McLaren went by a hotel firing shots. One of the bullets fired ended up in the buttocks of the victim Brandon Cooper. A source notes investigators later found evidence linking the rapper to the crime.

A Louis Vuitton back with $40,000 cash fell out of the driver’s seat of the McLaren. Investigators linked the money back to Shiesty by matching the serial number on one of the bills to a $100 he posted on his Instagram account days before the incident.

Let’s Make One Thing Clear About Pooh Shiesty’s Guilty Plea

Pooh Shiesty’s guilty plea is not necessarily an admission of guilt. However, with the plea, several charges were dropped.

As Rolling Stone notes,

“His about-face and conviction on Count 1, conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes, led prosecutors to ditch the other three counts in his updated indictment.”

With the ditching of those charges also came a reduction in maximum sentencing. Given the evidence against him, making the plea was an intelligent move.

However, since the plea still does not guarantee him an eight-year sentence, we will have to wait to see the outcome. FM Hip Hop will keep you updated.

Hip Hop Artist Lil Devin Loses Life In Home Invasion

2022 is just beginning, and already the headlines are painted red with death. On New Year’s Eve, the hip-hop community took another loss when rapper Lil Devin lost his life in a home invasion.

Event Surrounding Lil Devin’s Death

Reports show Lil Devin at home bringing in the New Year with family when a group of masked individuals took his life. As the U. S. Sun notes, the young rapper died of a gunshot wound to the chest, And sadly, the attack is believed to be pre-meditated.

Straight from The Source, a report confirms Lil Devin’s murder resulted from a targeted attack, when a group of masked men entered the home, shooting and killing Swain almost instantly.

And here we stand again in mourning and disbelief.

Lil Devin’s Rise

It is almost as if Lil Devin was fated to be a hip-hop artist. In 2016, Lil Devin began posting his material in a move so many attempt but with minimal success. Little did he know at the time, YouTube would be his doorway to success, catalyzing his rise from obscurity. According to the U.S. Sun, he released his first studio album only two years later. By 2021 the artist had four album releases under his belt, certifying his talent and grind. But unfortunately, his stardust was stolen a little too soon.

The Mourning is Only Beginning

Today Lil Devin’s family is mourning his loss. His brother, in particular, broke his silence on the devastation of the incident robbing him of his loved one. In a moment of strength, Donald Cox said,

“It was traumatic — very traumatic [and] something I wouldn’t want anyone ever to go through.”

And we stand in agreement; this is something no family should have to go through ever.

No Justification for Murder

While it’s been confirmed that masked intruders targeted Lil Devin, there’s been no confirmation of motive. And as said so many times before, there is never a justifiable cause for such a callous act.

In conclusion, most agree that these incidents happen much too frequently, and people are getting wildly out-of-pocket. And sadly, the suffering is becoming almost unbearable. We can no longer afford this as a community.

However,  here we stand once again, offering the family of another promising star our deepest condolences. So to the family of Lil Devin, our hearts are with you. And may the days ahead bring resolution.

Juice Wrld’s Mom Carmela Wallace Expounds on Live Free 999 Foundation and Son’s legacy

The mom of Juice Wrld, Carmela Wallace, is a living tribute to her son, making it her mission to keep his memory alive through philanthropic efforts. In a recent XXL interview, Carmela Wallace kept it transparent when addressing questions about the Live Free 999 project, Juice Wrld’s life, and his music.

Juice Wrld Inspires Live Free 999 Project

Juice Wrld, a young and up-and-coming rap artist, succumbed to an accidental overdose in December of 2019. Although Wallace lost her son that day, she’s worked tirelessly to keep his legacy alive. The Live Free 999 project was one of her many ways to honor his life and legacy. When asked how it all began, she told XXL,

“Well, I was hurting, painful. And then I started receiving messages from people, how [Jarad’s] music helped them with depression and anxiety. So, I felt like it was my obligation to continue that message–Jarad’s message of healing–because he touched on mental health in his music.”

Juice’s Mom Reflects On Depth Of Juice Wrld’s Struggle

According to her interview, Wallace was aware of her son’s immense talent from a young age. So, her son’s pursuit of a career as a hip-hop artist was no surprise. However, his struggle was a different issue entirely. Although Wallace admits she was aware that he had struggles, she was unaware of the depths. When asked how she found out about her son’s drug use, she told the interviewer through his music.

Unconditional Love For Juice

Regardless of Juice’s struggle, his mom candidly admits to loving Jared [Juice Wrld] through all he was going through and trying to help him the best she knew how.

In Wallace’s words,

“I was honest with him. The same way I am is the same way I was with him. I was transparent. We talked about drugs and his use. We talked about him getting help.”

Sadly she could not save his life. But she could look beyond his struggle to the passion and pain and let it fuel purpose. And so, while still raw from the shock of her son’s passing, she transformed tragedy into something triumphant.

Juice’s Mom On Son’s Posthumous Tracks

When asked about her feelings about the songs released after her son’s death, she humbly admitted to little involvement. However, she was unequivocal that she didn’t try to hinder the process.

“I let them do it. So, my involvement is I give the thumbs up.”

Wallace Feelings On Wrld’s Song Leaks

But the mother did have some misgivings about the leaking of her son’s songs, especially without good polish. She had this to say,

“I understand they loved him. They loved his music, but there’s a proper way to do it. Let us give you, our best.”

Wallace experienced what no mother should, losing her young, gifted song at such a young age. Yet, she remains a living demonstration of what it means to love someone beyond their pain. In her interview, her love for every part of her son is evident. Indeed, she deserves a spotlight for her efforts to reach out in the wake of such a painful experience.

Coachella’s Not Alone

Californians further rejoiced upon hearing that the country festival, Stagecoach, will also be returning on April 29th-May 1st, 2022.  However, the Golden State isn’t alone.  Chicago is back with Lollapalooza, Pitchfork, and North Coast.  New York will also be holding its beloved Governor’s Ball. There are too many others to count but it’s worth noting that Hip-Hop favorites, Rolling Loud and Lyrical Lemonade are back too! By the end of the year, music fans of all kinds will finally have gotten the satisfaction we’ve been desperately missing.

While there certainly is some time before the line up drops, we’re just happy that we can announce the bright future ahead.  Preorder your tickets for Coachella here!

Bill Gates Says Life May Not Return To Normal Until 2022 Due To Pandemic

Microsoft founder Bill Gates (@thisisbillgates) estimated in recent interview that life may not return back to normal until 2022, although a vaccine for COVID-19 is currently being produced. The chief science officer at the World Health Organization, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, predicted a similar outcome to CNN reporters this week.

Gates told “Fox News Sunday” that the COVID-19 vaccine will likely come in early 2021, and the pre-pandemic lifestyle will return somewhere around the summer of 2021. Although developing a vaccine usually takes a decade, efforts to create a vaccine for coronavirus are proceeding at an extremely rapid pace. Currently, there are 40 vaccines in clinical trials and 9 in Phase 3 of testing, according to The New York Times.

“We’re looking at 2022 at least before enough people start getting the vaccine to build immunity,” Dr. Swaminathan said to reporters on Tuesday.

The United States has the highest number of cases in the world, and nearly 30,000 Americans have died from it, according to Johns Hopkins University. There is speculation that immunity might be difficult to achieve in the U.S. due to a potentially low effectiveness percentage and many anti-vaccination superstitions.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

With the vaccine in reach, sources announced that healthcare workers, at-risk citizens, and White House officials will be the first to receive the vaccine.

Bill Gates voiced his frustrations over the fact that the U.S. still has no solid testing strategy for the coronavirus, and that lack of testing has led to massive spread of the virus.

“You know what happened was that 40,000 people came out of China, because we didn’t ban the residents and citizens from coming in. We created this rush. And we didn’t have the ability to test or quarantine those people, so that seeded the disease here,” Gates told CNN. ”Even today, people don’t get their results in 24 hours, which is outrageous that we still have that.”

Moving Forward

During a virtual meeting hosted by the United Nations foundation, the WHO chief mentions that all social distancing and mask protocols need to continue after the vaccine rolls out in order for citizens to build immunity. “We need 60% to 70% of the population to have immunity before you will start seeing a dramatic reduction in transmission of this virus,” she said. Dr. Swaminathan also raised an important question: How long does immunity last?
