“Here I Come” Rapper Lola Brooke Is Not Playing With The Mainstream Market

Brooklyn rapper Lola Brooke is coming for the mainstream market.

The artist’s single “Don’t Play With It” engulfed everyone’s TikTok timeline over the last few months. Most recently, she recruited Yung Miami of City Girls and Latto to hop on the remix at the end of last month.

Lola Brooke Joins Latto’s 777 Radio

Brooke also just stopped by Latto’s 777 radio to talk about the 2021 single, dating in the industry, and her background.

Lola Brooke told Latto she had a feeling that “Don’t Play With It” was “legit and hard,” but she didn’t know it would be a hit. She thought it would be a hit for the city, yet it went “global,” as the Southern rapper said.

Brooke said she didn’t feel any pressure from the song because it took two years for it to “pop.” The Brooklyn native released other music after she released the later-on hit.

Dating In The Music Industry?

When asked about dating someone in the music industry, the 718 princess sounded like she was leaning towards the idea of being in a relationship with another entertainer.

However, Brooke said she wondered if her significant other could compete with her. Lola also let it be known that she wants a rapper instead of a singer, jokingly solidifying it with lyrics from “Don’t Play With It.”

Lola told Latto that she is single and celebrities are in her DMs.

Where Did The Stage Name Come From?

The rapper also clarified where her stage name originated from. Lola was the “Looney Tunes” show character, Lola Bunny, and the Brooke part of the name came from the New York Borough, Brooklyn.

“Lola The Bunny,” because she was cute and like a tomboy, and Brooke because, as many know, Brooklyn is where she is from. The Arista signee gave us some of her background from New York, from taking the subway to keeping her circle tight to why her borough is the best. Big Gator and Latto were very playful, with great chemistry and many jokes in this episode.

Da Girls” (Remix) Featuring Lola Brooke and Lady London

Lola Brooke is taking the industry by storm, and you can hear her most recent mainstream hit, “Da Girls” (Remix). The song is originally just Ciara but the industry vet tags Brooke and incredible New York rapper Lady London.

Latto Shares How She & Mariah Carey Formulated ‘Big Energy’ Remix

Latto released the remix for “Big Energy” featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. The original “Big Energy” is one of Latto’s highest-charting songs, which pays homage to Mariah Carey’s 1995 hit song, “Fantasy.” Infamous for her vocal range, Mariah opens the song with her legendary whistle notes as DJ Khaled builds up the excitement by shouting out popular cities.

How Did The Latto & Mariah Remix Happen?

On Twitter, fans question how “Big Energy” remix came about. In response, Latto shared that the idea struck her in November 2021, two months after the song’s release. Despite being high on the charts, she was not confident Mariah Carey would collaborate on the music. However, the Atlanta rapper decides to persist.

“I originally thought Mariah for the remix back in like November when it first started going up, but didn’t think I could get her realistically,” she wrote. “Fast fwd I said fuck it and reached out. She was down.”

Listener Reaction

Mariah sings the original chorus to “Fantasy” on the chorus, then harmonizes as Big Latto raps, “You gone have to come and see this. Pretty like New New, sweet like Peaches. I’m gone be ya fantasy. You ain’t gone believe this – Hold up, got Mimi on the remix.”

Ultimately, “Big Energy” reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts starting the year off. Therefore, the remix is right on time, and fans on Twitter love it. However, she has only released a clean version of the song, and listeners are awaiting the explicit version. A fan on Twitter addresses the matter stating, “looove the song 100% will you be releasing an explicit version of the song?” Drianna asks. “Cause I was singing it adding in the curse words I looove the remix because of how you guys mashed up Fantasy with Big Energy it flowed reaal good!!”

The Atlanta rapper dropped her sophomore album, “777” on Friday March 25. It features rappers such as Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, and the album is currently streaming on all platforms.

Latto’s New Album ‘777’ Featuring Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, And More, Is Here!

Latto’s new album 777, featuring Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, and more, has finally arrived.

The star-studded album, which dropped at midnight on Mar. 25, has 13 songs, including Latto’s latest track, “Wheelie.” The song debuted on Mar. 11 with an accompanying video and has garnered over two million views thus far.

It’s been a long time coming for the Georgia rapper, who first appeared on season one of Lifetime’s The Rap Game in 2016. The bright-eyed musician made her mark on the show with her hard-hitting lyricism and uber-cute style. While most music reality series contestants rarely make it to become big stars, she proved the world wrong. A fellow successful rapper, Brooklyn-born J.I. The Prince Of NY also appeared on The Rap Game, but he had done so in the second season.

777 has been the second album Latto released since her first, titled Queen Of Da Souf, in 2020. The first one spawned multiple hits, including “B***h From Da Souf,” “Muwop,” “In n Out,” “On God,” and “Sex Lies.” Her hit song “Big Energy,” which came out in 2021, has appeared on her second.

Latto Joined Many Podcasts and Radio Shows

During her recent press run for 777, she stopped by several popular podcasts and radio shows, including The Joe Budden Podcast, Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, and Hot 97’s Nessa On Air. During Latto’s run, she discussed a multitude of topics and dropped a fire freestyle. One particular issue struck a chord with fans: her thoughts on how the music business treats women.

“I’m a new female rapper in the game. I wish somebody [had given] me some insight [into] how this thing really go. Some people say, ‘Oh, female rappers have it harder,’ but I wanted to give a little insight as to what specifically makes it harder for a female rapper in the industry,” she told The Breakfast Club‘s Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God, and DJ Envy during her interview on Mar. 23.

Her comments were about a recent incident she revealed, where a male artist requested sex from her in exchange for a verse clearance.

Despite the drama, Latto’s 777 is here, and we couldn’t be more excited. More features on the album include Nardo Wick, Childish Gambino, and Lil Wayne. Congratulations to Big Latto!

Latto Reveals ‘777’ Tracklist Truth & Kodak Black Denies Allegations

Mulatto shared the tracklist for her “777” album Monday(Mar.21), which is set to be released on March 25, The news has raised some eyebrows. According to the 23-year-old rapper, one of the feature artists is withholding clearance. This information came during an interview with LA radio personality Big Boy. Big Latto claims that men in the industry do not know how to conduct business properly. As a result, fans suspect Kodak Black, who features on “Bussdown,” is guilty.

“It’s a feature on my album… it was difficult to clear,” she says. “They tryna drop they nuts on me because I won’t respond to a DM.”

Big Latto Sheds Light On Misogyny

The song will remain on the album despite all challenges. Latto expresses that she genuinely loves the music. However, she wishes more females in the industry would speak out on acts of harassment. Latto denounces the preconceived notion that it’s a part of the rap game to endure disrespect from male counterparts.

“I love the song so much and I had to turn it in yesterday, so I didn’t really have a choice,” Latto says. “backed into a corner like bullied, but I wish more females would speak up and stuff. I know the label and stuff, they say, ‘Don’t do that, [that’s] bad business,’ but man these folks be trying to drop nuts on female rappers like I’m not gonna shut up about it.”

Latto admits she originally had respect for the rapper in question, and she expresses her distaste.

“It meant something to me for sure, like I was definitely rubbed the wrong way,” Latto says.

In shock after hearing the news, the radio host attempts to reveal which rapper is looking to exchange sexual favors or song clearance. Latto does not expose a name. However, she denies speculation that 21 Savage is the perpetrator.

Kodak Black Misogynist Behavior

The “777” album is 13 tracks with features from Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, 21 Savage, Lili Durk, Kodak Black, and Nardo Wick. Therefore, fans believe that Kodak Black is guilty of the misogyny of all the rappers.

Last month, Kodak Black appeared on “The Breakfast Club,” telling the host it is mandatory to have sex with women whom he collaborates. Particularly the women he signs because he’s giving them career exposure.

“Look, my female artist, this is just how it is, right… ‘Cause I know n***s and shit like that, I gotta bust ’em,” he admitts. “They ain’t gotta be my girlfriend, but it’s like, I’m gonna bust ’em.”

Kodak continues the misogynistic behavior when he talks about New York rapper Dream Doll. He claims that since her song was not up to par, she should have sex with him in exchange.

“Basically, I told her and the other chick, ya’ll gotta let me smash because the music a little trash,” Black states. “You ain’t finnah come over here and get what you want and I don’t get me none.”

Kodak Denies Allegations on Twitter

Despite admitting to sexism in the past, Kodak accuses speculators of reaching since Latto didn’t state a name. So today, Kodak goes to Twitter to deny all claims rejecting clearance on Latto’s “777.”

“That Mulatto Girl IS NOT Talkin Bout Me Homie,” he tweets. “I See Y’all Steady Reachin Lol … Shawty Ain’t Even Say A N***a Name On Dat Shit Ion Know Why Tf Y’all Tryna Make A N***a Wear Dat Jacket I’m Too Fly Fa Dat Shit Homie.”

The “777” album is set to release Friday, March 25. To hear Mullatto talk more about the project, click here.
