Big Sean and Hit-Boy visited the LA Leakers show at the Power 106 radio station, where Sean delivered his freestyle. Sean also called out some NBA players. The players were allegedly texting his girlfriend, Jhené Aiko.

Big Sean Shares Through Freestyle

Big Sean also shared in the freestyle that he was “with Kobe last January 1st trapped inside a year that just can’t get no worse.” On top, Sean mentioned that many songs he “wrote for icons still ain’t even get publishing on, while “some of [icons] up more than” the rapper in terms of popularity.

The instrumentals Sean worked with were Drake’s “Love All” & Kanye’s “Hurricane.”

Sean Don also proclaimed “God” his “favorite artist” while delivering the bars. One can argue the rapper has conservative religious views, but his freestyle is undoubtedly fresh and definitely worth checking out.

Welcome to Big Sean’s Crib

‘MTV Cribs’ got a chance to visit Big Sean’s house back in August. Sean got MTV a tour around his LA mansion with “feng shui vibes,” the golden Buddha statue, and a recording studio. Big Sean also revived ‘MTV Cribs.’ The rapper became the first guest/host of the show since 2011.

Meanwhile, Big Sean gave a short commentary throughout the freestyle. He also teased some big 2022 plans. Sean hinted at the “classic on the way,” while at the Power 106.

Why Does He Go

Weekly chiropractic appointments have straightened Big Sean’s spine and prevented him from slouching. Aside from his physical health, the Music artist has been vocal about his mental health as well. That it’s not for a physical reason it helps his mentality in the process.  That mentality helps him do well as a performer in the process.

“Anxiety is something I’ve had to deal with more than physics, and more than trigonometry, and certain things I learned. This is something I deal with daily. I think that now, especially with social media, it needs to be incorporated in schools. Because social media has changed the dynamic, it’s beautiful that we all are together and all on the same platform, but we have to make sure that we put it in perspective to where it doesn’t define our lives and give us validation for our existence.”

FMHipHop’s 2020 Power Playlist

2020 has taken us on a wild roller coaster ride, filled with constant devastation and grief. From Kobe Bryant’s passing to the COVID-19 outbreak; to the tragic death of George Floyd and the verdict of officer Brett Hankison who killed Breonna Taylor, we all need moments of motivation to cling to.

Music, being the universal language, allows us to cope with these tragedies. And in the darkness we find light. I was able to curate a Power Playlist of songs that have helped me and the people closest to me find hope. We hope this list can help motivate and uplift you and your loved ones through this time.

Here is the  2020 Power Playlist.

  1. Good Morning – Alex Aiono

With Aiono singing the lyrics, “Cause the sun ain’t gonna stop. If you’re ready, if you’re not. Just get up. Today is all we got. Tomorrow might not come. So get up. So get up. Good morning,” this song is the perfect start. The song is leading to remember that regardless of what happens, we need to “see the beauty in the simple things” and have a good morning.

       2. ZTFO – Big Sean

       3. One Way – Ameràs

This power anthem is all about speaking power over your dreams and aspiration despite what others may say. The Maryland songstress vows that she is “gonna make it. One way or the other. And if you don’t want me, I’ll just simply find another.

       4. MY POWER – Beyoncé, Tierra Whack, Moonchild Sanelly, Yemi Alade, Busiswa & Nija

       5. EMPIRE Presents: Voice For Change, Vol. 1

Artists for EMPIRE come together for a compilation album that raises awareness on the world’s current issues, such as racism. According to Complex, “the goal of this project is to shine a light on the troubles people of color face around the world and to inspire listeners to positively impact their own communities.”

Proceeds from this album will be donated to the American Civil Liberties Union, which is non-profit organization that helps to advance criminal justice reform, racial justice, voting and immigrants’ rights.

       6. Survivor – Destiny’s Child feat. Da Brat

       7. Rise Up – Andra Day

       8. ‘Touch The Sky’ – Kanye West Feat. Lupe Fiasco

       9. The Bigger Picture – Lil Baby“Stick together we can get it up out of ‘em / I can’t lie like I don’t rap about killing and dope / But I’m telling my youngins’ to vote

‘The Bigger Picture” is the raw story and experience of the rapper as a black man living in America. With his powerful message, the song and video voices the need for change and justice for the Black community. “Stick together we can get it up out of ’em. I can’t lie like I don’t rap about killing and dope. But I’m telling my youngins’ to vote.”

      10. Greater is Coming – Jekalyn Carr

Jekalyn Carr utilizes her voice to people that the Lord “preparing me for greater”. The powerful gospel song aims to remind the world that there is better to come.

Big Sean’s New Album Detroit 2 is Out Now

Big Sean's Detroit 2 - (Listen)
Big Sean’s Detroit 2 – Instagram (Listen)

Big Sean (@bigsean) recently dropped his first album in three years, Detriot 2, this past Friday. Detroit 2 is his first solo album since I Decided in 2017, his second No. 1 album. He’d originally planned to announce the album on a day that is special to Detroit, “313 Day” on March 13th, but delayed his announcement due to the COVID’19 pandemic. He later announced on Twitter that the release date for the album would be September 4th.

As a sequel to his 2012 mixtape, “Detroit”, Big Sean continues his story about his dearest home town. Big Sean, real name Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, was raised in Detroit by his mother and grandmother, and this new album is a tribute to the city that shaped him into a young man.

Big Sean voiced to Joe Budden, former rapper and hip hop critic, that he has been struggling the past few years due to the pressures of being in the rap industry and just life in general. He comes out strong in the first song of the 21-track album, “Why Would I Stop?” by sharing his mentality that he will never give up on his music and that his time away was in fact temporary. As the album continues, he raps about the struggles he has faced throughout his time in the music industry and his feelings of being overshadowed by other artists.

He released the lead single for the album, “Deep Reverence” featuring Nipsey Hussle, on August 25. The album’s second single, “Harder than my Demons” was released on the 31st of August along with a music video.

The album features Eminem, Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Travis Scott and Stevie Wonder just to name a few. Big Sean also has several tracks with his on-off girlfriend and collaborator Jhené Aiko. The track “Time In” features them as Twenty88, the name they used when releasing an album under the same title.

Throughout the album, Big Sean and his features touch on issues such as pressures he faces throughout his career, social injustices in the black community, gang violence, personal struggles, and oppression. Overall, the album is flawless. Big Sean continues to impress us with his versatility and transparency. Over half of the songs on the album have already made it in the iTunes Top 100: USA and the album itself is #1 on the iTunes Top 100 albums of 2020!

Big Sean’s verse references Nipsey Hussle’s untimely death, admitting that he reached out to Kendrick Lamar who he’s had rumored beef with after hearing the devastating news. “It wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with,” Sean explains. “Lack of communication and wrong information/From people fueled by their ego, it’s like mixin’ flames with diesel.”

Sean then touches on his struggles with faith, mortality and his mental health, and reveals that he and his former partner Jhene Aiko suffered a miscarriage. Praying for Naya Rivera

Everything Can Change Instantly

Since Wednesday, the “Glee” actress Naya Rivera has been missing, and possibly dead. Rivera was last seen at Lake Piru  with her son. While Rivera has still not been found, her son is reported to be alive. Interestingly enough, the news about Rivera got Big Sean’s attention, as they were in a relationship from 2013-2014. With all the craziness and uncertainty about Rivera’s whereabouts, Big Sean shows concern for Naya Rivera’s disappearance. We are praying for Naya Rivera, and hoping that answers about her missing will be soon delivered.

While many of us remember that Rivera played the baddie Santana Lopez, many forget what she has accomplished before her disappearance. Since the show, Rivera had her son Josey. She still remained in the spotlight while having her son, she was in “Step Up:High Water” ,which was her most recent project.

Why is Big Sean Trending On Twitter When Naya’s Missing?

Even though Big Sean shows his concerns for his former lover Naya Rivera’s disappearance through liked tweets, some ask why he is even trending on Twitter? Big Sean became one of the top trends on Twitter today, which does not make sense as they are not longer together! One of the most unfortunate parts of Rivera missing is that people still think of her as Big Sean’s ex! In reality, everyone should be praying for her and her son, as everything is beginning to change.

The Importance of Labels

While Naya Rivera is missing and possibly dead, it’s important to not label her based on her past, but to label her as a mother! With the search still in play, it’s important to remember that she is a mother and has made life worth it. All we can do now is pray for her, her family, and friends. Even though Rivera and Big Sean were together in the past, the main focus should be on Rivera and her heath instead of her past relationships. Stay updated, and hopefully Rivera will be okay.
