Kid Cudi Sets Record Straight on Drake Comments

In a recent interview with Esquire, Kid Cudi made some harsh comments on Drake. The rapper discussed his strained relationship with Kanye West, saying that it’s hard to forgive Ye after the situation with Pete Davidson. According to Cudi, the two won’t be repairing their friendship anytime soon.

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed,” Cudi said. “That’s not me. What I say, I mean. I will be done with you.” He also said that it would take a “miracle” for he and Kanye to squash their beef.

Cudi’s  reference to Drake raised some brows, but the Chicago artist wants to set the record straight. Kid Cudi took to Twitter and specified that he has love for Drake and that no disrespect was intended.

“Just to be clear, I wasn’t tryna throw a shot at Drake. I got love 4 him,” he wrote. “My point I was tryna make is that I’m not so forgiving. Meaning he might be a lil nicer than me in that situation w[ith] dude. That’s all. Maybe that came off wrong thru my words. So yea, all good w[ith] Drake.”

Kid Cudi’s history with Drake

Considerably, this isn’t the first time Drake’s name has passed Kid Cudi’s lips. In September 2016, the “Day ‘N Nite” artist name dropped Drizzy in a tweet regarding his biggest haters in the music industry. He also made it a point to include Ye in that list as well.

While Kanye made it a point to squash the beef at a show in Houston a few days later, Drake’s response took a different route. The Toronto rapper launched a series of sneak disses at Cudi, with the lowest of blows coming when Drake poked at Cudi’s history with mental health.

Cudi then responded with tweets from rehab, challenging Drake to repeat the bars to his face. Eventually, the two reconciled, with Cudi even featuring on Drake’s “IMy2” from Certified Lover Boy.

Playboi Carti No 1. On Rolling Stones Best Hip Hop Albums List; Twitter Reacts

It’s that time of year again; where people look back on the past 365 days and determine the best and worst. In that spirit, Rolling Stone released their list of the 20 best hip-hop albums of 2021  on December 15.

Albums that made the list included big names like Kanye West’s “Donda” at no. 13, Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy at no. 10, Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” at no. 6, and Tyler The Creator’s “Call me if You Get Lost”  at no. 3. Rolling Stone also highlighted critical darlings, placing Little Simz’s “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert” at no. 18 and Pi’erre Bourne’s “The Life of Pi’erre 5” at no. 9.

To many fans, none of that really matters, though. Who made no. 1 this year? Playboi Carti’s polarizing, super-charged “Whole Lotta Red.”

As with any subjective list, some people are not happy with the results, especially. since the album Rolling Stone chose was technically a 2020 album, released on Christmas Day.

Though the album was released in 2020, Rolling Stone argued it defined much of the music of 2021. Rolling Stone writer Jeff Ihaza writes:

“The week between its release and the start of [2021] is irrelevant when you think of what a seismic shift the album represents. Carti stakes ground in the current generation’s sonic sensibility and delivers one of the most forward thinking rap records since Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’… [‘Whole Lotta Red’s’] fingerprints are all over everything we heard in 2021.”

As far as this writer is concerned, let people like whatever they like. Just because they put something at number 1 that you don’t like, it is not the end of the world. People have different opinions and that is fine. In fact, it is even good that people do. It lets people change and grow. It is certainly better than being in a stagnant echo chamber. Kudos to Rolling Stone.

Ye And Drake Reconcile Ending Long-Standing Feud

It seems Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has squashed yet another beef. The conflict between him and Drake has been long-standing. Now, the two are turning over a new leaf as they have taken their reconciliation public. In a recent Instagram Live, Ye expressed, “it’s time to put it to rest.”

“I’m making this video to address the ongoing back-and-forth with myself and Drake. Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other, and it’s time to put it to rest,” Kanye says. “I’m asking Drake on December 7th to join me on stage as a special guest to share the two biggest albums of the year. Live in Los Angeles with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover.”

Drake shared footage from a get-together happening in Toronto, Ontario. The footage shows both Ye and Drake all smiles as they pose for pics. With Dave Chapelle as an attendee, we are sure they are all smiles and laughs.

The long-standing beef

The Ye and Drake beef has been hovering for over 12 years. Fans feel robbed of some of the best music due to the feud the two had since 2009. The then friends were at one point giving each other props and honor. In Drakes, Every Girl, he rapped, “Do you like girls like I do, Les-bi honest,” Ye commended him for this line calling it the best line of that year. Drake even considered Ye to be one of the most influential people as far as music goes. In 2010, Mr. West produced Find Your Love on Drake’s Thank Me Later album.

Mr. West is notorious for cutting verses from tracks. In 2010, his hit single, All Of The Lights, which featured Barbados singer Rihanna, hit the musical airways. Unfortunately for Drake, his verse was cut from the banger before its release. In 2011, an annoyed Drake speculated in an interview that Mr. West and Jay-Z’s collaborative album was just an imitation of his and Lil Wayne’s efforts.

After these small stints of not being on the same page, the two mentioned each other several times in interviews and music, seemingly on better terms. Kanye even made several surprise appearances at Drake’s OVO fest. In 2017, Drake told DJ Semtex, “Because, in the same breath, I went from being, like working on a project with him, to him sorta publicly shitting on me and DJ Khaled for being on the radio too much.”

Things came to a head for the two when it was revealed that Mr. West had shared Drake’s skeleton in the closet; his son Adonis. This is what Pusha-T used to diss Drake and left his fans speechless. Maintaining his stance, Mr. West shared that he would never stoop that low in any disagreement.

Drake & Ye Feature?

Ye seems to be in a great place as he lays to rest his rap beefs. Uniquely with Ye’s Donda Deluxe album release and Drake’s Certified Lover Boy making its rounds, the two are rap legends. Regardless of the back and forth between them, this reconciliation has us wondering, when can we expect a Drake and Ye collab? Let’s hope soon!

Ye Collaborates With André 3000 On Donda Deluxe

What is better than Kanye West’s Donda album? Naturally, the Donda deluxe edition, featuring Hip-Hop heavy hitters like André 3000. Ye shakes things up by completely rearranging the album’s original tracks and also mixing in 5 bonus tracks.

The return of André 3000 to music

Eric Bellinger – What About Us feat. Sevyn Streeter (M4a, Acc, Itunes/Apple Music Version)
“Life Of The Party”/Kanye West ft. André 3000 & IRKO on Donda (Deluxe)

“Life Of The Party,” which features André and IRKO, is easily the most talked-about feature as Mr. 3000 has been the music M.I.A for over 15 years. His musical return has brought a solid piece of history to the forefront.

“Life Of The Party” was originally a diss track to Canadian rapper Drake. However, the unreleased song was leaked. In an interview with People in September, André shared, “I was inspired by his idea to make a musical tribute to his mom. It felt appropriate to me to support the Donda concept by referencing my own mother, who passed away in 2013.”

Further clarifying his intentions with the track, he told Variety, “We both share that loss. I thought it was a beautiful choice to make a clean album, but, unfortunately, I didn’t know that was the plan before I wrote and recorded my verse.” Luckily, Certified Lover Boy did not ruin the track’s release with his sneaky leak.

Perfecting Donda

Donda made headlines for many reasons. The most dramatic being for Ye removing verses from the album by artists like Chris Brown and also Soulja Boy.

Despite its place on the Donda original, this track was scrapped. André also made it clear that he is on neither side of the Drake and Ye controversy but hopes to work with both artists in a way that would “inspire” him. He also shared, “Hopefully, I can work with Kendrick on his album. I’d love to work with Lil’ Baby, Tyler, and Jay-Z. I respect them all.”

Mr. 3000’s verse gives that classic André flow his fans love and crave. In contrast, this verse may be André’s most personal verse to date.

Hey, Miss Donda
You run into my mama, please tell her I said, “Say something”
I’m startin’ to believe ain’t no such thing as Heaven’s trumpets
No after-over, this is it, done
If there’s a Heaven, you would think they’d let ya speak to your son

Donda (Deluxe)

The new edition, which dropped Sunday, has over 2 hours of listening time. That’s over 20 extra minutes of astounding music from the best hip hop has to offer. Before its release, there have been several public previews, two public airings at Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium and one at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Donda was released on August 29th, after weeks of imperfections. A streak of listening parties proved that Ye was on to something great. Donda also recently reached 1 billion streams on Spotify and became Ye’s most-streamed album.

NBA Youngboy Eyes Number 1 on Billboard 200 With New Album

NBA Youngboy is back in the headlines and for exciting reasons. According to Billboards, the 21-year-old rapper’s new album might be the next number one on the chart. Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, also known as NBA Youngboy, released his third studio album last week.  He’s currently behind bars on firearm charges after allegedly engaging the Los Angeles police in brief pursuit.

Sincerely, Kentrell consists of 21 tracks with no features, and there are predictions that it could dethrone Drake, whose project has spent three weeks at the top of the charts. Drake released Certified Lover Boy on 3rd Sept and sold over 600,000 units in the first week. The new album could be the Baton Rouge native’s biggest debut ever, with sales estimated at 130-150k units within the first week.

His record label, Atlantic Records, announced that the album would be released late last year but got pushed back. The plan was to debut in May 2021 but wasn’t released until the 24th of this month. It’s Youngboy’s latest project since he released Top, his second studio album in 2020.

Sincerely, Kentrell debuted at number 1 on apple music and iTunes with “Toxic Punk” as the lead single off the album. The rapper released several singles and “White Teeth” as the second single on the 14th of May. The third single, “Nevada,” came on 7th July, followed by “Life Support” on 10th September. The fifth and last single, “On My Side,” was released on 17th September.

Here’s what his fans have to say about the album:

NBA Youngboy: a father of 8?

The rapper is famous for his signature style, which consists of fast-paced and charged lyrics, allegedly welcomed his 8th child. Rumors started swirling back in April, claiming he had another baby on the way with Jazlyn Mychelle. Youngboy has seven other children, five boys, and two girls, with six different ladies.

Have you sampled Sincerely, Kentrell by NBA Youngboy? Drop us a comment; we’d love to hear your thoughts on the project!

Drake made an announcement today via social media: Drizzy is now a minority stakeholder in Dave’s Hot Chicken Franchise. He has open two locations in Los Angeles and Toronto.

Drake’s Interests in Food

Drake has sung numerous amount of lyrics that pertain to food. He uses it in a metaphor that often describes his hot and juicy rapping style or his flaming and competitive nature. Either way, Drake is a lover boy for more than just women but food. In Drake’s “NWTHS” album, in a track called “Come Thru,” he made a food reference to his style by saying, “Girl, you know I got the hook up. They just wait on me to cook up. You heat up the stove. I do the dishes, you know?” Such flow and grace when comparing his ways of eating when serving lyrics make his fans hungry for more.

Kanye Buys $57.3 Million Dollar Mansion To Be Closer To Home

It seems like every week Kanye West makes headlining news. This week we are back with a new headline and this time it’s strictly art. Kanye has bought a $57.3 million dollar mansion on the coast of Malibu, surprisingly just 30 minutes away from his baby mama Kim Kardashian. The home is 4,000 square feet and stretches from the road to nearly the water line of the ocean itself. Though looking from the outside, it may not appear so, as massive the home was designed as a military bunker.

https://twitter.com/HotNewHipHop/status/1440091679088840707?s=20

The home was designed and built by Tadao Ando a Japanese architect from Osaka, Japan. Ando is has become famous for his ‘haiku effect in his designs giving the feeling of nothing or little work when indeed the project is complex and takes a lot of thought.  It required 1200 tons of poured concrete, with 200 tons of reinforced steel driven 60 feet into the ground just to keep it stable sitting off the sandy coast.

https://twitter.com/Kdgohard_/status/1440098213499789312?s=20

Mr. West has a downside to this beautiful and expensive home though. He is very close to busy streets and traffic. Also there is not much space between him and his neighbors, making it a bit difficult for some privacy. Paparazzi will certainly know when Kanye’s home.

Kanye West has always been into aesthetics. He tweeted back in 2018 that we would all be living in a James Turrel-style home or work mimics by James Turrel (per HNHH).

If you don’t know who Turrel is, he is an artist and architect combining the two into a living experience. Remaking modern art as a day-to-day lifestyle, so to speak. He created the structures for Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ video he also designed the rings for Apple’s ring-shaped campus as well.

What’s your take on this new home Kanye has purchased? Did he move here to be closer to his family? Maybe rekindle his relationship with Kim? Let us know in the comments below.

Drake Breaks Billboard Records, Gets 9 of Top 10 on Hot 100

Records are made to be broken and Drake’s wielding a sledgehammer.

In the sixty-three years of Billboard Hot 100 history, no one has ever claimed nine of ten spots on the Top 10. That is, until today. Drake has become the first artist in Billboard history to achieve this, and the first since The Beatles to secure the entire top five. That means that Drake also breaks a fifty-seven-year record, set by the legendary group in 1964.

Drake, Lord of the Charts

It’s time to talk some numbers.

At No. 1 is Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” featuring Future and Young Thug. It’s the third time that Young Thug has made it to the top spot, and the first time for Future. To date, it has some 67.3 million streams, 7.7 million in airplay listens, and has sold 7,000 units. It’s Drake’s fifth song to debut at No. 1, following “God’s Plan”, “Nice for What”, “Toosie Slide”,  and “What’s Next”.

Taking the No. 2-5 spots are “Girls Want Girls”, “Fair Trade”, “Champagne Poetry” and “Knife Talk”. Between the four of them, they have some 205.4 million streams as of today.

The No. 6 spot goes to fellow Canadian superstar Justin Bieber, with his hit with The Kid LAROI, “Stay”.

In the No. 7-10 slots, Drake finds “In the Bible”, “Papi’s Home”, “TSU” and “Love All”. These last have gotten some 160.2 million streams, bringing Drake’s total stream count in the Top 10 to a whopping 365.6 million streams. These nine songs on the Top 10 bring Drake’s total single count on the Top 10 to 54. This makes him the top in this category, outshining Madonna, The Beatles, and Rhianna.

But what about the rest of the record?  Where does it stand?

Launching to No. 1 on the chartsCertified Lover Boy racked up some 743.6 million streams, with 613,000 album units earned. It fell just short of Taylor Swift’s Folklore, which managed to snag some 846,000 album units earned. The other eleven songs on the album found their way onto the Billboard charts. Every single song on the album has charted in the Top 40 range. This brings Drake’s total in the Top 40 range to 143 records, and 258 entries on the Top 100 altogether.

Destroyer of records

In addition to his absolute obliteration of the charts, Drake can look back on some truly amazing feats. From 2015-2017, Drake was the most-streamed artist of all time on Spotify, getting 7.6 billion streams. Hypothetically, every single person on Earth at that time listened to him at least once. In May of 2017, Drake took home thirteen microphones from the Billboard Music Awards, beating Adele’s record by one. To date, he holds 27 BMAs. In 2019, he got into the Guinness Book with the most time spent on the US singles chart (multiple singles). He can proudly say that he has spent 431 weeks, some eight years and 88 days, on the Billboard Hot 100.

40 Explained R. Kelly’s Credentials on New Drake Album

Canadian producer and Drake’s collaborator Noah “40” Shebib explained why R. Kelly got credits on the rapper’s new album. The producer explained the situation on Instagram. In a comment, he wrote:

“On a song called “TSU” at the beginning is a sample of OG Ron C talking. Behind that faintly which you can’t even hear is an R Kelly song playing in the background. It has no significance; no lyrics are present, R Kelly’s voice isn’t even present but if we wanted to use Ron C talking we were forced to license it. Doesn’t sit well with me let me just say that. And I’m not here to defend Drake’s lyrics, but I thought I would clear up that there is no actual R Kelly present and it’s a bit misleading to call him a co-lyricist. It’s kinda wild cause I was just reading “Baby Girl” by Kathy Iandoli and the recounts of some of that stuff is horrific and disgusting. Then I saw this post and just had to say something because to think we would stand beside that guy or write with him is just incredibly disgusting.”

40 Explained R. Kelly's Credentials on New Drake's Album
Noah “40” Shebib/Rolling Stone

Drake & R. Kelly Controversy

The song “TSU” from Drake’s newest album, Certified Lover Boy, has R. Kelly in its credentials. Outraged fans went on social media, where they reacted with shockdisappointment or humor. Turns out, the “TSU” beat is a sample used from R. Kelly’s 1998 hit “Half on a Baby.”

R. Kelly is currently on trial. He’s facing charges, including assault and running a criminal enterprise. Before Drake’s album was released, another R. Kelly’s assault victim spoke at the trial. At the time of the assault, R. Kelly has also married Aaliyah, which is another hint that the marriage was a sham.

Drake’s new album has also come out amidst the rapper’s conflict with Kanye. Be sure to read about their beef at the group chat and on social media here.

Drake reveals bout with Covid-19 wreaked Havoc on his hairline

Throughout the summer, Drake has evaded one key question: Where is his long-awaited new album “Certified Lover Boy”? It turns out the Toronto rapper’s recording process ran into a bump when he was infected with COVID-19. Drake revealed his diagnosis in a comment on an Instagram fan account called @drizzy drake vids on Monday, August 16.

The page uploaded a photo from Drake’s original Instagram Story of him in the studio, his hairline looking faded, with only half the iconic heart shaved into it. “That heart is stressed,” the post commented. The “Laugh Now, Cry Later” rapper replied to the fan page’s post. “I had Covid that s–t grew in weird,” he said. “I had to start again.”

“Don’t diss it, it’s coming back,” he warned.

Drake didn’t reveal exactly when he contracted COVID-19. He became, however, one of the first celebrities go public about his test for the virus after hanging out with NBA star Kevin Durant in March 2020, right after Durant announced his diagnosis of the illness. “Yeah, I had to perform a test, but it came back negative,” he said in a video recorded by TMZ at the time. “That test is uncomfortable though. They stick that Q-tip all the way up inside your thoughts and s–t.”

Drake has yet to reveal a firm release date for Certified Lover Boy

Fans had expected the release of Drake’s new album in January, but “Certified Lover Boy” faced a postponement when the rapper underwent knee surgery in the fall of 2020. Drake revealed then on his Instagram Story that he had to postpone it. “I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery,” he wrote in a post later picked up by Revolt. “I’m blessed to be back on my feet and feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January.”

While fans can rest easily knowing the album is coming soon, they’re eagerly waiting for Drake to reveal the final release date.
