Drake Announces The Return of OVO Fest

Drake was a surprise guest for REBEL in Toronto last night. Not only was his appearance a surprise, but the information he was about to share as well. Drake shared the news of OVO Fest’s return saying,

“Toronto, please, like I said, this guy right here is a once in a generation talent. Whether he’s rapping, pouring out his heart, whether he’s turning all the way up, whether he’s playing the piano, whether he’s acting in our show, Top Boy, I promise you this guy right here is a one of one. Make some muthafucking noise for Dave. I love you with all my heart. They let the city back open so I will see you at OVO Fest soon.”

Ovo Fest is a yearly music festival that Drake is in charge of. It is named after the label, OVO (October’s Very Own) Sound, which is in Toronto. OVO Fest was last held in 2019. It was canceled the last two years due to Covid. However, it is coming back this year.

Current knowledge about OVO Fest

No details are currently officially known. However, there is already an unofficial website that claims to be selling tickets. They claim that the festival is going to happen on Aug 4 at the usual venue of the Budweiser Stage. They claim the lineup includes B2K, Mario, Pretty Ricky, Lloyd, Ying Yang Twins, Chingy, and Bobby V, with Aubrey headlining. However, they are not even pretending to let people buy the tickets yet. The site can be found here.

It can pretty safely be said that Dave will be there. Ovo Fest was announced while drumming up hype for him, after all. It would be weird for Dave to allow Drake to advertise the festival before his act if he is not going to show up for it.

Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, J. Cole, + More To Headline UK’s Wireless Festival 2022

The UK’s Wireless Festival has a hot lineup of headliners this year! They announced that musicians like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, J. Cole, Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, SZA, and Dave will rock the stage. The ten-day festival runs from July 1st to July 10th, 2022. The other artists apart of the Wireless Festival will be announced later.

Instead of hosting the festival at one location, the hosts have decided to run it at three different places: London’s Finsbury Park, Crystal Palace Park, and Birmingham’s NEC.

Last year, Future, Migos, and Skepta were headliners. In addition, Gunna, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Meek Mill, Polo G, Swae Lee, Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, and Young Thug performed.

headliners

Drake joined Future during his set. They performed “Jumpman,” “Life Is Good,” “Way 2 Sexy,” “Laugh Now Cry Later,” “What’s Next,” and “Nonstop.”

During their set, Drake says
“I don’t even remember what this shit feels like. I just want to tale in all the beautiful people. We love you so much. We missed you so much. We wrote a lot of songs that we played in our studio that we never got to do in front of y’all, so I was hoping I could do some of those songs I never got to play for you tonight.”

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie had a different experience at the festival last year. He says during that time via Instagram,

“SMH Sorry to everyone who came out to see me at Wireless. Police locked me up before I went on stage for something I was accused of 2 years ago. I’m OK, and I’ll try my best to make it up to you guys.”

Lil Dicky Takes Down “White Dude” Video from Youtube

Lil Dicky removed “White Dude” From Youtube, claiming he was not proud of the satirical song.

Dave Burd, who goes by the stage name Lil Dicky, sat down for an interview with GQ, where he spoke briefly about his past music and decisions. On the topic of satirical songs that boosted him to fame, Burd did not feel as proud of them as others may. “White Dude” is a song where Burd talks about the privilege he has for being a white male. He expressed how happy and lucky he felt that to be a “white dude” instead of another race or gender in the song.

“I don’t like making jokes I’m not proud of.”

Burd didn’t seem embarrassed or regretful for the song or the video, but simply just not a fan of it. “It just didn’t feel like a joke I was proud of,” he said in the interview. He attributed his growing maturity to the friends he met while filming his FXX show Dave. He understood struggles, specifically black struggles, after having real conversations with his close friends of other races. Because of this, Burd was less fond of the satire he brought to the issues in the past.

“I’m very confident that if I had 10 hours to spend with somebody, that they would like me.”

Burd admitted that he wanted to be a comedian because he wanted people to like him and constantly sought that. This reflects on his feelings about the “White Dude” song and why he has done a lot to change his image in recent years. Hopefully, this will come out more in season two of his hit show Dave, which will release on FXX on June 16 and Hulu the next day.
