Over the years, the popular radio show has given fans many laughs and spawned popular internet memes. But on Tuesday, Angela Yee posted a cryptic tweet declaring that the show as we know it is “officially over.”

It was later announced that the show itself wasn’t ending, but that Yee would be departing to host her own program. With the ending of an era, let’s take a look at some of the funniest moments and highlights from The Breakfast Club.

Highlights from ‘The Breakfast Club’

  • Birdman’s walkout

In April 2016, rap mogul Birdman appeared on the show to confront Charlamagne amidst all the speculation surrounding his past. During the interview, Birdman and Charlamagne exchanged words, leading to Birdman’s now-infamous walkout. The incident is one of the most famous in Breakfast Club history.

  • Soulja Boy goes off on Drake

In his January 2019 appearance on The Breakfast Club, Soulja Boy went on a tirade in regards to his comeback and impact on the rap game. But when DJ Envy suggested that Drake was the best rapper in the world, Soulja took offense. His response has become one of the most popular clips of the last few years.

  • Ray J’s phone call

In his 2010 appearance on the show, Ray J called in to discuss his beef with Fabulous. During the call, he became heated and went off on a rant calling out Fabulous. The heated discussion was one of the viral moments in the show’s early history.

  • DMX’s rendition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

The late DMX provided an iconic moment for the show when he put his spin on the classic Christmas carol.

These classic Breakfast Club moments helped define an era in pop culture. With Yee’s departure, it’s uncertain how the show will move forward. But one thing’s for certain, it will never be the same.

Coi Leray Defends Her Music Against Pusha T

Coi Leray appeared on The Breakfast Club on Apr 6 to discuss various topics. The topics surrounded the career of Coi Leray and her rising fame.

Coi Leray’s Interview

The interview started with discussions surrounding her career and how Coi Leray released “No More Parties” only a year ago. She then talked about how she sometimes has to make mental sacrifices for her music career. She makes sure to worry about herself, but it can be difficult.

Also, one of the ways Leray finds comfort is by sucking on her thumb. This habit then lead the artist to start wearing braces. After these random questions, the focus also turned to Coi Leray and the release of her first album, “Trendsetter.”

DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlemagne Tha God have had a chance to listen to the album on Apr 8.
Angela and Envy expressed which songs stood out. Angela Yee brought up the piece “Overthinking,” which features the artist H.E.R.

The Misunderstanding

Coi Leray asked Charlemagne if he enjoyed the composition. His answer made her pause for a second.

“I like certain songs. Listen, I’m 43. I don’t think your music is for me,” Charlemagne Tha God said

Coi then wanted to know who Charlemagne was listening to. He brought up Pusha T. Leray compared her album cover to Pusha T’s, saying he is “black and white.” In contrast, her album cover is “bright and colorful.”

“Tap over to Trendsetter and get some spark in your life,” Coi Leray said.

Charlemagne did later say that some tracks were for him. This did not get Coi off his back. She pressed him some more on his stance to back Pusha T over her. “You don’t play Pusha T on the radio. Why don’t you play what you listen to?” Charlemagne took up for Pusha and said they would play him on the radio the same day.

According to Charlemagne, Pusha T is in rotation at Power 105. He also stated that she would be lucky to have “longevity” like Pusha T. The topic changed quickly when Angela focused on if men like listening to women rappers.

YBN Cordae Says He Lied To Stevie Wonder Once On FaceTime

YBN Cordae is making headlines for saying he lied to the iconic Stevie Wonder on a recent Breakfast Club Interview.

In the interview, DJ Envy asked him how he got together with Wonder. The 71-year-old musician appears on the track “Champagne Glasses” from his new album From A Bird’s Eye View. Cordae’s response was nothing short of hilarious. He even mentioned that he lied to Wonder.

“So umm, we originally linked up…he reached out to me to get on a record of his a couple months ago called “Can’t put it in the hands of faith,” he said.

DJ Envy subsequently asked, “Were you surprised when Stevie called you?

Cordae continued, “We linked up because we were working on records for four to five days in a row. One time I’m in my room sleep and he Facetimes me…I ain’t answer because I saved his number as Steveland Morris. I’m like ‘who the f**k is this? Then he called back again and I’m like…oh! that’s Stevie!”

Then he says, “He’s like ‘what you doin?’ And it’s midnight, and I knew he was gonna tell me to pull up to the studio but I didn’t wanna tell him I’m laying in bed.” The 24-year-old rapper proceeded to say that he responded to Wonder saying that he was hanging out in the studio. LOL.

“‘Nothing much, I’m chillin in the studio,'” he recalled saying to Wonder. “I’m like, ‘I’m up, I’m workin.’ and he’s like ‘Pull up on me man, I’m at the studio.’ I didn’t wanna tell him I was laying down in bed.”

Cordae also said that he couldn’t believe the Grammy-Award-winning singer was blind. However, he became a believer when he “almost tripped him up” and saw how proficient he was in the studio. “Man he’s one of one bruh. They don’t make them like him anymore,” he said.

The North Carolina rapper just dropped From A Bird’s Eye View today. Features on his new album include Gunna, Lil Durk, Lil Wayne Nas, Stevie Wonder, and more.

Angela Yee Receives Backlash for Quando Rondo Interview

Power 105.1 Media Personality Angela Yee is in hot water because of her latest interview with rapper Quando Rondo.

In a 2-part interview titled; “November 6th”, Angela Yee speaks to Quando Rondo about the events that took place in Atlanta that night. Quando Rondo tells his side of the story from that evening. He tells the story of how the alleged altercation he was involved in ultimately resulted in the murder of Chicago rapper, King Von. The next day, Rondo associate; Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks was arrested for the shooting death of King Von. Lul Tim was recently released from prison on a $100,000 bond, and Quando celebrated his friend by purchasing him a luxury watch.

An interview of this magnitude is expected to spark interest and go viral. What is unexpected is the backlash Angela Yee is receiving for doing her job. Angela’s Breakfast Club co-host, DJ Envy claims to have received text messages regarding Angela’s safety after the interview went live.

Because of that, Envy tells Angela to be careful because she doesn’t want to mess with those young boys.

The topic eventually made its way to Clubhouse with a room centered around Angela’s Quando Rondo interview. Someone in the room went as far as to say Angela “could get touched” because she did the interview. I know Hip Hop culture has changed with today’s rappers. The reason for the interview is evidence of this change. But has the culture shifted so much that journalists are being threatened and are in danger of providing a platform for stories to be told? Unlike others, Angela Yee is a professional. She rarely, if ever speaks to someone with the intention to sensationalize a story or have a person incriminate themselves. As a professional, she is aware of the potential for a story to go viral, but that isn’t the goal when she sits down with them.

Does Angela Yee deserve the backlash she’s receiving? Do you think a journalist’s safety should be in danger because of what a subject says in an interview? Are journalist’s not supposed to provide a platform for everyone? Let us know in the comments.

CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD CALLS RAPSODY THE ‘BEST RAPPER OUT – PERIOD’

Charlamagne Tha God is highly respected because of his unbiased take on various subjects in the hip-hop culture.

Recently, the radio personality voiced his opinion about Rapsody while sitting down with his co-workers, Angela Yee and DJ Envy, on The Breakfast Club.

This time, the trio interviewed Sister Souljah about her latest book, Life After Death: A Novel (The Coldest Winter Ever Book 2). During their conversation, Yee asked what female rappers she likes.

Sister Souljah revealed that her nieces introduced her to several contemporary rappers like ‘Young M.A.’

 That’s when Charlamagne said,

“I think you would really like Rapsody Sister Souljah. She’s from North Carolina. I think you would really, really, really dig it. She’s a huge, huge fan of The Coldest Winter Ever. True lyricist. I think she’s the best rapper out — period.”
