600Breezy Believes God Allowed King Von To Die Due To A Potential Life Sentence For A RICO Case

There will always be those who remember a deceased person for the rest of their lives. 600Breezy recently had an interview with VladTV in which he reflected on his understanding of why he believes his friend, rapper King Von, died so suddenly. In addition, he indicated that the matter is related to a RICO case.

King Von Was Murdered

In November 2020, King Von was killed in an altercation outside a lounge in Atlanta. The fight was reported to have involved Quando Rondo and his crew. This tragedy sparked a verbal firestorm, which led to the merger between the street life scene and the rap industry. Due to this behavior, rappers frequently encounter difficulties with other rappers, fans, and law enforcement officers.

600 Claims God Saved Von

Breezy stated on VladTV that Von felt fine on the way to the hospital. “He wasn’t a dying man in the car on the way to the hospital,” the Chicago native said.

As 600 continued, he was shocked when the “I Am What I Am” rapper passed away in the hospital, even though he was fine when transported there. In addition, he believes that King Von was taken away by God to prevent him from being incarcerated for the rest of his life.

“I don’t feel like that was, I don’t feel like he deserved that. So, you know what I’m sayin’? S**t. God called him home. It probably was a situation to where, you know what I’m sayin’, he don’t deserve to be in prison forever, ” Breezy said. “So, he left his mark on the world, so, just come with me-type s**t.”

Having faith that a loved one who is severely injured will survive is unfortunate, only to find out that they have died.

As well as this, the “Ticket” rapper believes if Von were still alive, the authorities would have filed many murder charges against him for alleged crimes that he may or may not be guilty of.

At One Point In Time, Von Saved The Life Of 600Breezy

Furthermore, the NBA YoungBoy affiliates 4KT threatened to shoot up rapper 600Breezy’s house for interfering with the girlfriend of YoungBoy. A couple of weeks ago, the rapper mentioned that King Von saved his life by not allowing them to do so. There are certain situations in which violence should not be the first option.

May the memory of King Von be a blessing for all who knew him.

The music video’s main location is a corner bodega. A bodega is iconic to the hoods of New York. Coming from Staten Island, Nizzle knows first hand how important a bodega is in the hood.

A bodega is a focal point in any neighborhood. Tons of people come through a bodega day and night. With so many people coming through one location, things can go from good to bad in an instant. A drug deal gone wrong, being in a opps territory, an argument can all end badly. This is the focus of the single and music video of “Fallen”.

“Fallen” Music Video

The FMHipHop team was given an exclusive look at the “Fallen” music video. The culture of the hood is brought to the screen. The music video follows Nizzle Man as he strolls through the hood. The music video puts an emphasis on the street culture of Staten Island.

The “Fallen” video is aligned with the lyrics of the single. Nizzle Man’s song has punchy and short bars. The style of the song matches the style of the drill music taking over New York. Nizzle mixes the style of drill rap with his style of rap and remains true to his roots.

Drill Rap Aids In The Arrest Of Alleged Gang Members

The drill rap genre has once again helped New York Police officers make multiple arrests. Officers used drill music videos as evidence to arrest over 20 supposed gang members. “Operation Drilly,” uncovered a series of brutal crimes committed over a three-year time span.

According to the New York Daily News, these crimes include grand larceny, murder, assault, and manslaughter New York Daily News. Those arrested allegedly bragged about their crimes in their songs.  Several of the individuals taken into custody were adolescents, including popular drill artist, Lee Drilly. Drilly allegedly talked about his crimes in the 2021 release “Bet,” featuring E-Wuu. Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said she wished there was a way to keep youth from turning to “senseless” violence.

“It was beefs and slights and disrespects that all drove some of these incidents,” Clark said.

She continued, saying, “We’re doing all that we can to deal with and battle the gun’s scourge that is happening here in the Bronx.” Clark said, “more must be done to deviate these young people from the life of gangs and senseless violence. We do need to do more.”

Drill Music And The Police

Politicians and law enforcement officers have a history of linking violence and rap. For instance, in 2019, two rappers Skengo and AM became the first rappers in the U.K. convicted for a live performance. Likewise, similar things happen in the U.S. As a result, they each received a nine-month sentence for breaching an interim gang injunction. American drill rappers met with New York City mayor Eric Adams, and they agreed to work on a solution. However, it continued to be used as evidence in a recent fraud case.

People are looking to change this practice, however. Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, and Killer Mike signed a letter opposing this practice. Jay-Z’s lawyer Alex Spiro drafted the letter. State senators Brad Hoylman and Jamaal Bailey came up with the proposed legislation. So far, there isn’t any word about whether this legislation will pass.

What Dougie B’s arrest could mean

Dougie’s arrest comes at a time of increased pressure on the New York drill scene. The recent murders of artists such as C-Hii Wvtts and Tdott Woo, along with the arrests of Kay Flock and C Blu, has cast drill in a negative light. Recently, New York mayor Eric Adams even called for a ban on drill rap videos.

However, Adams met with members of the drill scene in February to tackle the rising gun violence in the city. The prominent drill rappers involved in the dialogue included Fivio Foreign, B-Lovee and Maino.

“It’s been a lot of talk about drill rap, drill rap music in New York City, connecting violence with the culture, and I just wanted to create a conversation with the mayor,” Maino said in a clip posted on Instagram. [We’re here] to talk about what’s really happening so the mayor could get a real perspective and real understanding of what drill rap is and so we could have some real dialogue and really make things happen.”

The Down And Dirty Details Of Drill Rap Music

What is Drill Rap

Drill Rap portrays the gritty, hardcore side of street life. This subgenre is defined as aggressive, dark, and violent. The pervasive subject matter for most of the material is guns and shootings. What else should one expect? Its niche form takes its name from a street term. As a source notes, “drill” refers to killing, doing a hit, or retaliating.”

Where did it start?

Chicago is said to be the nurturing ground of Drill rap. However, the form quickly gained traction with artists on London streets. Nonetheless, the music arose from the gritty Southside of Chicago. As a source notes,

“A lot originated in Dro City, a gang territory of city blocks in the Woodlawn neighborhood.”

From the origins, the form had bloody roots.

The Faces of Drill Rap

According to a source, Chief Keef and Lil Durk are two of the first artists to perform this subgenre of Rap. Chief Keef took the mic as a Drill lyricist at a young age. The source notes,

“Chief Keef, one of the genre’s most prominent musicians, was only 16 when he signed a million-dollar record contract with Interscope.”

According to the same source, Lil Wayne also signed a minor to rep the form.

Some might consider the promotion of such violence at a young age problematic. Why?  Young artists are big influencers of their age cohort. Is this a valid concern? Given the nature of the issue at hand, it is indeed valid.

Expansion of Drill Rap

Not long after its start, the form made rapid expansion into the boroughs of New York. In the same year, artists from New York began to promote Drill. Two well-known Drill rappers from New York include Bobby Shmurda and Pop Smoke. Sadly, in February of 2020, Pop Smoke was fatally shot.

Without a doubt, there appears to be an unmistakable link between the form and violence. Is there another expectation,

As a source notes

“Many drill songs are diss songs between gang sets.”

Not Everyone is Aware

Drill Rap has become a subgenre growing in popularity over the last few years; the critical word being, some. Many remain unfamiliar within the subgenre. Even so, a lack of knowledge has no bearing on the existence or impact of the music. This is why Drill Rap is under the microscope.

The Bulls Eye on Drill Rap

While most art forms exist unencumbered, “Drill” rap does not. The death of 18-year-old C-HII Wvttz, a “Drill Rapper,” triggered a firestorm. Although not everyone sees a  link between Wvttz death and his chosen performance art, some indicators exist. The manner of his death is a critical factor. He was shot outside of a studio. At the time of Wvttz’s shooting, investigators believed Wvttz’s death could be gang-related.

Drill and Death

In 2021 at least three artists were victims of drill-related incidents. First, according to a source, KRS-Dre was shot 64 times.  Mike Darole was shot during a robbery attempt. Finally, drill rapper Edai succumbed after being shot six times. The number of deaths linked to this form raises valid questions and concerns. NYC Mayor Eric Adams wants those concerns addressed with some urgency, as covered in an earlier FM Hip Hop Article.

Tepid Response

There is division regarding the mayor’s response.  A few support the mayor’s effort to curb the promotion of material inciting violence. The opponents believe an attempt to ban the sub-genre is a violation of the first amendment. Other opponents believe the form reflects real life, so one can’t prohibit it. In the words of one tweeter,

“Drill rap they still getting active without music it’s a lifestyle.”

While there is merit to the argument, sometimes it is better to do something than nothing in a moment of crisis.

Drill rap is now center stage. What will become of the form is unknown. The hope is that whatever the outcome, the culture wins in the end. Stay tuned.

Mayor Eric Adams Wants Drill Rap Removed From Social Media

Has Drill Rap seen its last days? If Mayor Adams has anything to do with it, the answer is yes!

C-HII Wvyttz (Drill Rapper) A Tragic Catalyst

A week ago, the Hip-Hop community lost a young and aspiring drill artist named Wvyttz. He was only 18 years old with a bright future. At the time, FMHipHop provided coverage on the life and career trajectory of Young Wvyttz, who was unexpectedly gunned down outside a studio.

His father then gave a compelling video showing his son’s involvement in “Drill” rap a few days later. With as much as a father can muster after losing his son, Wvyttz’s father also speaks on the increasing violence of Drill.

Mayor Adams Uses Drill Rap For Political Gain

Mayor Adams uses this opportunity to push the social media executives to resolve the growing Drill crisis. In his address, Adams said:

“You have a civic and corporate responsibility,”

Do they? What is corporate’s responsibility to the global citizenry?

Not even Adams, who has risen to a powerful position in the NYC community, was aware of Drill rap and its message. Not until the death of Wvyttz was he made aware of this niche area in hip hop. Yet, he admits his alarm when finding out.

“I had no idea what drill rapping was. My son sent me videos. It was alarming.”

Drilling Into The Root Of The Issue

So if Adams did not know Drill and its message, it is possible Social media executives do not either. This is not to remove responsibility. On the contrary, failure to see the content your brand is putting out is not only aloof but a sign of poor leadership. However, if there was knowledge and the executives were explicit in its distribution, another dark and sinister issue needs addressing.

Response To Ban Mixed

Primarily the Response to Adam’s Drill ban proposal is mixed. Many agree those who sit at the heads of these companies indeed have a responsibility to maintain society’s goodwill. This means policing and restricting content that poses harm.

Others argue the duty is not theirs; instead, this responsibility rests with individuals. Parents, guardians, and community leaders bear the burden. It is their job to stand at the gate and guard the accessibility of this content to their sons, daughters, mentees, students, parishioners, and congregants.

The role of business is to provide a service in exchange for payment for rendering those services. In other words, they are not forcing the public to buy, listen, or participate. This is a valid point.

Adam’s Argument On Social Responsibility

Adams argues the media picks and chooses. This behavior alone is the root of the problem. Adams stated,

“It would be irresponsible to continue to give violent rap music videos a platform,” the mayor stated regarding Drill. “Twitter banned former President Donald Trump for posting what it deemed as objectionable and inflammatory content.”

The Facebook executive team was clear about their position to ban President Trump.

“His account will remain suspended until 7 January 2023, and he will only be reinstated if the “risk to public safety has receded.”

A source noted!

This knowledge puts forth much consternation and offers a lot to chew on?

How much are these media executives aware of? Is there an ulterior motive?

Corporate Response On The Issue Of “Drill” Rap

Major platforms at the heart of this Issue, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, have not yet responded to Adam’s proposal. While waiting for a response, Adams continues his campaign. Additionally, a source notes that the mayor plans to meet with top hip-hop artists and civil rights leaders.

This is an exciting development, a pivotal point in history where politics and artistry intersect. No one can deny the propensity to cause a far-reaching change in the music and hip hop industry is at the door. FM Hip Hop will follow this and keep you informed of developments.
