All is well with Consequence, Drake and Noah “40” Shebib

Queens-born American rapper Dexter Raymond Mills, Jr., known as Consequence, acknowledged taking the antagonism between Drake and Kanye West too far. Addressing Drake and Noah “40” Shebib, he called that decision a mistake.

Consequence uploaded a post, “Petty Energy ain’t it for 2022.” Consequence captioned the screenshot, before later adding, “As an OG, I owe @champagnepapi an apology for letting the competition over the LP’s spiral out of control. Pardon me for whatever was said about you or your loved ones. Keep doing you bro…”

Exchange of Direct Messages between Consequence and Noah

On June 1, Consequence made DMs between himself and Noah “40” Shebib, OVO Sound Label producer public.

“Just wanted to tell you, cause I didn’t get the chance the other night, you’re for real one of my favorite rappers ever,” Noah’s message read. “Like for real. Just had to express that you and say thank you.”

Cons responded at the time: “My dawg. I fucks with y’all and I told Ye it’s great look to lock in with y’all. I def want to build with you and Drake.”

Kanya-Drake Antagonism

The Kanye-Drake conflict is one of the most controversial feuds in hip-hop industry. The open hostility between both world-famous, American, hip-hop artists can be traced back to 2007. West and Drake have been at loggerheads since then.

The controversy took an ugly turn in May 2018, when Pusha T. (the G.O.O.D. Music president) and executive producer Kanye West released studio album Daytona. In the last track of the album Infrared, Pusha T. selected Drake’s ghostwriting allegations about Kanye. Later, Drake backfired by suggesting he wrote Father Stretch my Hands and 30 Hours in Kanye West’s track The Life of Pablo. Pusha T. criticized Drake in The Story of Adidon, however, as he persistently kept the identity of his son hidden. Pusha T. even considered using this information in one of the Adidas campaigns.

The conflict re-emerged in 2021, ahead of the music album releases for Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and West’s Donda. Kanye confronted Drake in a group chat, and Drake responded by leaking Kanye’s collaboration with André 3000’s Life Of The Party— a previously unreleased song by West—in his radio station. Kanye reciprocated Drake’s attitude by posting his full address on Instagram but deleted the post after a short time. Amidst these struggles, Kanye released his tenth studio album Donda on August 29, and Drake released his sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy on September 3.

Consequence Criticized Drake

The conflict dragged other rappers, such as Andre 3000, Consequence and Pusha T., into the dispute. Consequence took the side of West, and in his track Party Time, he rapped lines like “Your parents out here like Sonya and Dell / And ever since Sophie had a story to tell/ You’ve been taking L’s and coming after K / And thought we couldn’t tell you were coming after K / But most crabs are a shell of their self.” Pusha T. was directing these lyrics towards Drake.

All Is Well With Consequence, Drake and Noah

In November 2021, both Drake and West are rumoured to have ended their feud. Kanya West posted a picture of himself, Drake and J. Prince in front of Drake’s mansion in Canada. Indeed, Consequence seems to want to make sure all is well with Drake and Noah “40” Shebib as he gears up for his new album, a follow-up of his 2016 A Good Comeback Story EP album.

DDG Starts Discourse, “This Generation Creativity On Another Level”

DDG shows his cocky side with a controversial take on Tupac and Biggie Small‘s relevancy. Do you agree? Or was it too far?

DDG sparks old school vs. new school

It’s widely known that debates over rappers of old and new have been going on for years. With the public’s tastes changing so drastically over time, it’s inevitable that some lines will be drawn in the sand. Furthermore, YouTuber turned rapper DDG is an ambitious 24-year-old going hard for the new-gen.

“Today’s rappers are 10x better than the rappers back in the today.. Respectfully.” He tweeted.

The blunt announcement garnered a mostly negative reaction, with many pointing out 90’s legends like Tupac, Nas, and Dr. Dre.

Picking your battles poorly

One particular Twitter user used Tupac and Biggie Smalls as a rebuttal. In a certainly interesting turn, DDG put the two legends on blast. “On some real sh*t.. when the last time u listened to either in the car.. BE TRUTHFUL.”

In addition, it’s worth noting that while DDG’s monthly Spotify listeners are sitting at 5.7 million, Tupac and Biggie have a combined 35.2 million. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, it’s a bit unusual for the Pontiac rapper to come out with this harsh take out of the blue. Clearly, social media agreed as the backlash was quick and heavy. That’s likely why DDG followed up with a final tweet explaining his stance.

“I respect the older generation of hip-hop, but this generation creativity on another level fr. Hip Hop ain’t never been the number 1 genre until NOW.”

Although not many are co-signing this, it has to be said the ‘Elon Musk’ rapper is sticking to his guns. In addition to the naysayers, some fans partially agreed with DDG’s declaration. Do you agree that the new guys have overcome the past? Or will the originals always reign supreme? The debate is still raging on.

Ed Sheeran Gets High With The Game

Ed Sheeran recently appeared on the Fitzy & Wippa podcast to talk about his upcoming Australian tour, but an interesting subject presented itself at the top of the conversation. Ed talked about how The Game got him high while in Compton.

Ed Sheeran Gets High

The show’s hosts, Ryan’Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael’‘Wipp” Wipfli, brought up Snoop Dogg. Ed Sheeran told the podcast duo he has never met Snoop. However, Sheeran still had a story for them.

Ed Sheeran begins Thinking Out Loud and freely shares the story of smoking with The Game while in a studio session.

“I was doing some records with The Game and he took me to Compton. And we were in the studio and we probably made like 13, 14 songs. And towards the end of the session..it starts being a bit of a party.”

Could you imagine being in the studio session to see this in person? The creation in that room would be great to be a part of.

Ed and Game are an unlikely pair, but they work well together. Creating 14 songs in one session can only occur with chemistry. Joining in on that chemistry would have been fun. However, the party after would have been extremely entertaining.

It wasn’t long before Ed Sheeran decided to join in on the fun. He smoked a little bit but it was still too much for him.

“I took a tiny, tiny, tiny puff of something and I was out. I was like, ‘I have to go home.’ This is like 2013 though. I don’t really do that at all. When in Rome.”

Looking at the hilarity of the situation, I couldn’t stop laughing.

Ed Sheeran And The Game Collaborate

The Shivers singer told his story with a massive grin on his face. One could easily tell he enjoyed telling the story. Not to mention he was sincere and open. This moment created a  long-term working relationship between the two musicians, continuing to other collaborations.

The Game and Ed Sheeran have officially released tracks that they worked on together years later. Ed featured on a couple of songs on The Games 2019 Born 2 Rap album. He is featured on the intro,” City of Sin, and the last track of the album,” Roadside” Hopefully, we can expect the two to work together on more tracks.

Wayno Explains Roc Nation’s Lack Of Interest in Ye

The first act of Ye’s “jeen-yuhs” documentary highlights some of the challenges Ye faced when attempting to break into the rap scene as a superproducer. TodayWayno (current A&R for QC, former Roc-A-Fella records affiliate, manager, and artist) took to Twitter to offer some additional context.

What Did The Label Staff Think Of Kanye’s Song?

Ye’s visit to the Roc-A-Fella records office was one of the “jeen-yuhs” documentary highlights. As a result, it has made the rounds on social media sites. In this scene, he also plays a recording of an early version of the song “All Falls Down” to members of the label staff. At the same time, he was accompanied by a camera crew.

In the eyes of fans who had not been aware of these events before now, the company’s employees’ lack of interest and enthusiasm came as a shock. As a result, people began tweeting questions, such as “How could they not know ‘All Falls Down’ was amazing?” Wayno provided his inside perspective on what transpired:

Wayno Addressing Skeptical Fans Through Tweets

His firsthand account of events automatically qualifies as credible as a staff member. Wayno stated that he did this regularly. People were still skeptical of his statements. Even after pointing out that some of the staff members were surprised to hear the record:

Wayno said people were unfamiliar with frequent video recording in the offices in a series of tweets. Adding that “nobody at Roc disliked Kanye.” He also brought up Ramses Francois, an alum of Roc-A-Fella.

When Wayno said Roc-A-Fella had already signed Ye upon visiting his office, several people were surprised. The documentary identifies Ye as a producer. Yet, he strived to come off as a rapper.
