Snoop Honors Nipsey Hussle: Reveals the Artist as Ghostwriter

Ghostwriters rarely get credit for their work, but Snoop Dogg gives Nipsey his due this time.

Snoop Honors Hussle

Snoop Dogg recently went on the record shouting out Nipsey Hussle as a contributor to his work. “Ten Toes Down” was a track released on the Doggfather’s 2016 album Coolaid. However, many didn’t know it was a collaborative effort when it was released.

The Genuine Snoop

If there is one word that can define Snoop, it’s genuine. He keeps it a hundred. So, it was not shocking when he dropped the mention of Nipsey Hussle as a ghostwriter on the track “Ten Toes Down.” Snoop posted a video on social media with him vibing to the track. The caption said it all,

“The late great @nipseyhussle wrote this for me 🙏🏾💫✨💧10ToesDown. Coolaid. Album👏🏿🔈🔈.”

Now, that is humbleness in action.

Snoops Admiration for Hussle

Snoop had great admiration for the artist and the man that Nipsey Hussle was and was becoming. He still fondly recalled how he first met Hussle and the impact of the interaction. And what he thought of Hussle as an artist speaks well of Hussle’s talent.

“What was crazy was Nip’s mentality was stronger than a rapper that’s been in the game for 15 years.”

Such a compliment from an OG in the game carries a lot of weight.

Not only Collaborators

Snoop and Hussle were collaborators. However, the public knew little of the collaborative work behind the scenes until now. The fact that Snoop trusted Hussle as a partner and as a ghostwriter speaks volumes. Knowing the depth of kinship he felt with Hussle, this is not wholly unexpected.

He saw a natural kinship in the up and comer.  He told the world so at Hussle’s memorial service. In Snoop’s words

“But one thing that me and Nip had was a kind spirit, we had that spirit of love … When we met each other, it was like a magnet coming together. We had the same spirit.”

And brothers uplift brothers.

Long live Hussle’s legacy as the phenom he was in the industry. Unfortunately, we don’t always know the extent of one’s impact until their gone. However, when we see the bigger picture, we give props where props are due.

The Man Who Trolled Drake On Instagram Now Wants To Meet IRL

Cedric Bowden, who went viral online for trolling Drake on Instagram, actually wants to meet the Toronto Rapper in real life. Their initial interaction gained traction when the man heckled Drake in his Instagram comments.

At the time, he said, “Ya son prolly play with ghostwriters.” Drake didn’t like this, however, and trolled Bowden right back. “I just followed your girl ’cause she’s prob miserable and needs some excitement in her life,” said Drizzy. He followed through on this.

Hours later, Toni Bowden’s Instagram followers shot up, which sent Twitter into a frenzy. Toni responded to the situation on Instagram, and Drake responded by sending her a DM. “I’m here for u ma,” read the message. Cedric and Toni sat for an interview with TMZ Hip-Hop. In the interview, Bowden explained his side of the story.

Drake’s Ghostwriters

For one, everyone knows or thinks Drake has ghostwriters. “I’m a fan of Meek Mill so when Meek said it, I truly believed it. Honestly, I didn’t think that comment would go anywhere,” said Bowden.

Toni said, “I have so much fun in my life, ever since I married this man. But lucky me!” According to her, this situation created no problems between her and Cedric.

When asked if he went too far in bringing up Drake’s child, Adonis, Drake’s Instagram troll said the rapper went too far by DMing his wife. However, he taunted Drake first. Overall, the couple seems to be in good spirits about the whole ordeal. “I mean, he kinda crossed the line, but it’s all love,” he said. Cedric even had kind words about Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” album and referred to himself as one of Drake’s biggest fans. It’s unclear what’ll happen next between the two men, but it seems the “beef” is over.

Nicki Minaj Fires Back At Ghostwriting Rumors

Recently, Nicki Minaj allegedly using ghostwriters has been a topic of conversation. As a result, the record-breaking female rapper felt the need to publicly defend herself on Twitter. She did so on Saturday. Honestly, she seemed completely fed up, and who can blame her? For nearly her entire career, people have questioned whether or not Nicki wrote her own songs as if it would take away from her success as an artist. Therefore, she constantly has to quiet naysayers.

The Success of Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is one of the more successful and influential female rappers, period. Regardless of how much you like (or love) her music, no one can deny that. Or so you’d think. For nearly her entire career, people have tried to undermine Nicki’s effort and take credit away from her. Is it because of jealously? Disrespect? Or simply because she’s a woman? This is from 2018:

https://twitter.com/NICKIMINAJ/status/1000115103637815296?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1000115103637815296%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps3A2F2Ftwitter.com2FNICKIMINAJ2Fstatus2F1000115103637815296widget%3DTweet

In it, Nicki describes how someone gave credit to Eminem for her verse in one of the songs they wrote together. Nicki attributes this to her gender saying, “Ya’ll try to take away everything from women.” Sadly, there does seem to be a pattern of taking credit away from Nicki to give it to a man. Similarly, in 2013, Nicki famously dissed Ransom for attempting a similar maneuver. In his song “Man Alone,” he came at her saying, “Before Nicki was wearing those crazy wigs / I was doing verses for her just hoping she’d make it big.” Then, Nicki responded saying, “I’m not even a man and n-ggas got my dick in they mouth. […] I don’t need no motherfuckin’ ghostwriter. So if you telling that lie, you must be real fuckin’ desperate and you still ain’t gon’ pop.”

A Tireless Defense

The ghost of others’ insecurity followed Nicki for years. Unfortunately, this insecurity reared its ugly head from 2013 to 2018 and now, in 2021. Nicki took a break from paying for her fans’ education to, once again, reasserting her ownership over her own success. On Twitter she said:

It’s time to let the Queen claim her castle.
