Drake Honors Pat Stay Following His Death

After finding out that one of his favorite rappers had passed away, Drake paid his respects. The battle rapper, whose name is Pat Stay, was allegedly stabbed in the wee hours on Sunday. Reports also say the rapper was at a local bar in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Later that day, Pat was announced dead at a nearby hospital. The Halifax Regional Police came to the scene around 12:36 am near the 1600th block of Lower Water Street.

Police didn’t know of Pat’s identity. It was his brother who made the sad announcement.

Drake expressed his gratitude for Pat Stay’s influence in the battle rap game through his Instagram Stories.

Attached with a picture of the legendary rapper at his OVO and King of the Dot “Blackout 5″ battle rap event was a short paragraph from the 6 God.

“RIP to the Sucka Free Boss @patstay_902, one of my fav rappers ever,” he wrote.

Other musicians also voiced their sorrow about Pat Stay’s death on social media.

The Alchemist said on Twitter,

“‘I can moonwalk with steel toe boots on. Rest in peace, Pat Stay.”

He continues,

“Battle Rap icon and king. If u know me, you know I always thought he was the best. I’m hurt.”

Royce da 5’9 paid tribute to the rap star with a picture on Instagram, saying “a GREAT man…Rest Peacefully.”

Statik Selektah even mirrors this same feeling of remorse. On Twitter, he penned, “That Pat Stay news is horrible. Rest In Peace. He was dope. Stand up dude.”

Stay’s known as one of the greatest rappers out of Canada. His slew of rhymes were so exceptional that he earned the nickname King of the Dot Champion.

Eventually, he went on to retire and utilized his other talents in the boxing ring.

Following his death, Stay’s family started a campaign on GoFundMe. The donations from others will help with funeral expenses.

It says,

“We are setting up this fund to help raise money for our fallen brother’s family. He has been taken from the world far too soon and many will be devastated forever. Pat Stay was a very honorable man who was on his way to a bright future.”

GoFundMe Campaign “Justice For Amber Heard” To Help Pay Johnny Depp Shut Down

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have been going at it for weeks in court. But, at the end of their trial, the judge ruled in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor’s favor. At the same token, Heard was compensated $2M.

Johnny Depp’s and Amber Heard’s Trial

Johnny Depp recalled moments of physical abuse and even went as far as to record Heard saying she “hit” him. Not to say Johnny Depp was innocent either.

As per Heard, Depp did a cavity search out of jealousy and even stuck a bottle where the sun definitely doesn’t shine!

Given all the evidence both parties and their witnesses provided, the judge concluded that Heard falsified her story. They demand Heard to pay Depp $15M for defaming the actor.

He sued Heard because she lied about him physically and sexually assaulting her during their marriage. These fabrications, unfortunately, made their way to an article. Johnny Depp then lost his role in the “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Although Depp won the case, Heard’s supporters didn’t pump their brakes. Instead, a GoFundMe “Justice for Amber Heard” campaign was created in the actresses’ favor. However, this campaign was not given the time of day by GoFundMe.

But instead, they ended the fundraising attempts immediately. Additionally, Amber Heard and her legal team deny having affiliation with the $1M campaign.

Alleged Fraud In Amber Heard’s Support

As time passed, news sources reported that Kimberly Moore, who lied about having ties with Heard’s legal team, created the “Justice for Amber Heard” campaign. Moreover, Moore assured supporters that all the money would go toward them.

To reel fans in, Kimberly Moore wrote the following. As per TMZ

“The trial was a disgrace. I believe Amber and social media protected the abuser. The judgment exceeds her net worth. It’s so sad that he could get away with the abuse. The judgment furthers that abuse.”

To give Heard fanatics some reassurance, Moore also wrote

“She will have direct access to the money. I also contacted her attorney so they can loop her in.”

Today, news spread about Heard not being able to pay this sum of money she owes Depp. On Thursday, her lawyer unveiled that the actress will only be able to pay $10M.

YK Osiris Donates

Last week, YKO said he was talking to the family at that moment and will take care of things.  After Tyre’s brother’s and mother’s post, Osiris got in touch with Tyre’s mom, Nekia Dodd and agreed to send the money through GoFundMe.  He afterwards posted his donation of $15,000 stating this is straight from the heart.  Finally, he is giving his money away instead of losing it.

Gambling Gone Wrong

A few weeks ago, the Jacksonville artist played Young Bleu in basketball to which he lost.  Young Bleu posted a video of YKO paying him $10,000 on Instagram.  Earlier this year, the fearless gambler said he is aware of his money habits.  In an interview, he states, “I think I just don’t make smart bets.  I just jump in the water and swim.  Are you going to save me?”  He was lucky Drake was being nice and gave him another choice to repay his $60,000 debt.  Not sure what the wager was, but Drake offered YK Osiris to perform “Worth It” on the spot.  He did just that and erased his $60,000 debt.  Drake’s splash brother, French Montana, also ran into YK Osiris earlier in the year asking about the $5,000 he owes him.  French posted on Instagram that YK owes him from bowling and he will get his money.  They were joking, but I’m sure French was a little serious.  Maybe 50 Cent can help YKO get paid!

50 Recruits YK Osiris?

Recently, he thought YK Osiris can have a potential role in hit show “Power”.  YK Osiris posted a video on Instagram tagging 50 Cent stating he wants a role in the show.  50 responded by posting his own video giving support to the young rapper.  It wouldn’t be the first time 50 puts a rapper on to acting.  YK Osiris could sure use the extra money!

Young Dolph Secured His Children’s Future Through More Than Rap

The chatter surrounding Young Dolph’s fatal shooting is both alarming and inspirational. It is devastatingly unfortunate that death can be the light of a person’s life. Dolph was known as a rapper with club bangers and trap anthems. He is also a husband, father, and businessman. In retrospect, the nature of his death does no justice to what he accomplished behind the musical scope.

The positivity surfacing after this tragic time is enlightening to his legacy. Real estate broker and filmmaker Tim Jackson shared an Instagram in tribute to the late Memphis rapper. Unlike others, he shared that the esteemed rapper owned over 100 estate properties. He also purchased foreclosures for each of his children every year for their birthdays.

Damn! @youngdolph rarely rapped about his real estate portfolio but he owned over 100 properties in Memphis and he also purchased a foreclosure for his children every year for their birthdays. He told me this himself when we met. I admired this about him and even challenged him to rap more about this side of his hustle.

“The streets don’t love NOBODY,” Jackson continued. It’s sadly a true statement as many high-profile entertainers have perished in their hometowns. While many mourn over his portrayed lifestyle through his music, it is also important to commemorate the complete picture of his life behind the scenes.

Young Dolph’s contribution to society

Young Dolph led a humanitarian lifestyle. His contributions to Makeda’s Cookies will now have an even more significant effect than before. With their GoFundMe now reaching over 70k since his death, it is hopeful there will be a lasting future for Dolph’s favorite cookies. Read more on his fight to save Makeda’s Cookies.

Dolph’s labelmates kept his dream alive by continuing his annual turkey giveaway for Thanksgiving. Paper Route Empire moved forward with previous efforts because they knew that’s what he would’ve wanted. Memphis’ Fox13 News reported live from the event.

“We’re just representing Young Dolph and just keeping the legacy going. And getting people to know we’re going to do this every year,” said Snupe Bandz.

Dolph secured generational wealth for his family. Although wealth can not replace a father, his children have great footsteps to walk in.

Makeda’s opened the Go-Fund-Me shortly before Young Dolph was gunned down. He was a regular that was trying to save the business by spreading awareness. He would enter the bakery every day to bring awareness to the Go-Fund-Me. On November 17, Young Dolph was ordering some cookies for his mother there when he was gunned down and killed.

“In the aftermath, the store that was just repaired after burglaries will now have to begin again. Young Dolph was helping them attract more customers by frequently visiting and posting to help increase revenue. Unfortunately, this black owned business is now being forced to repair once more while hurting. They will also be unable to pay their staff or replace their revenue that this main store generates. The staff will also need security as there has been an additional shooting that occurred on the following day steps away their bakery. They will also need grief counseling to process witnessing the murder of someone they considered family.  Due to the nature of this tragedy their insurance claim was denied.

Continue the fight for Makeda’s

It would be a shame for Young Dolph’s fight to have been for nothing. At the time of writing, 993 people have donated $33,000. The goal is $150,000. Let us all come together as a community to help this small local business that Young Dolph had believed in.

Ahmaud Arbery’s Mother Calls Out Organizations Using Son’s Death As “Business Opportunity”

Ahmaud Arbery’s Mother Calls Out Organizations Using Son’s Death As “Business Opportunity”

Wanda Cooper-Jones, the mother of Ahmaud Arbery, seeks justice for profiting off of the use of her son’s death by multiple organizations.

Cooper-Jones wrote a letter outlining her grievances with these companies that was acquired by TMZ

“It is with great disappointment that I must now elaborate on this situation with the founders of 2.23 and creators of I Run with Maud when I am still grieving, still advocating, still seeking justice, and still trying to adjust to the loss of Ahmaud.”

She starts off the letter expressing her feelings about the “I RUN WITH MAUD” social media page, which was originally started as a memorial page. Akeem Baker, Ahmaud’s friend, came to Cooper-Jones with the idea of the social media page. Cooper-Jones was on board with the page at first, however, she feels the page is being run with a business mindset. She is not able to have administrative access to the page as well.

Alongside with the page, there is a trademark application that was filed on May 9, 2020.

“This was the day after Ahmaud’s birthday; two days after the arrest of the McMichaels; and the date we set aside to release balloons in honor of Ahmaud, a very emotional time for us all”, Cooper Jones continues saying that, “one of the trademark applicants had never even met my son, yet applied for this trademark in an attempt to profit off Ahmaud’s name.”

Cooper-Jones’ third grievance is for a GoFundMe in Arbery’s name. The GoFundMe was “suggested to [Cooper-Jones] by one of Ahmaud’s friends and I put my trust and faith into that everything would be run appropriately.” Due to the inception of the GoFundMe, people have suggested that the family is using her son’s death as profit scheme

Lastly, Cooper-Jones spoke on the foundation 2.23, which was created by Jason Vaughn. According to Cooper-Jones, “he is not a relative and did not have a close relationship with my son.” The foundation started to spread awareness of different advocacy efforts being made. The foundation planned a major fundraiser was set for seven days after the foundation’s launch against Arbery’s mother’s wishes.

Arbery’s mother ends off the letter stating that she will not remain silent and that she speaks for herself and her son.

“The grief is a fight every day of my life. Fighting for justice is something I must do each day and every minute of the day. What I am experiencing is draining, but it is for my son. There is so much we experience after losses due to injustice. I am simply asking everyone to respect my wishes as they are always fair and in the best interest of my family and Ahmaud.”
