Swinging Success: ScHoolboy Q And His Lucrative Journey Beyond the Mic

ScHoolboy Q has been making some extra cash in his secondary venture, and it has proven to be lucrative. How profitable has golf been for Hanley? The rap artist can now relax and step away from rapping because of how financially rewarding it is.

ScHoolboy Q’s Meteoric Rise And Subsequent Retreat

ScHoolboy Q, also known as Quincy Matthew Hanley, burst onto the scene in 2014 with his debut.

According to the Grammy’s, Hanley was so talented that he came out of the gate smoking. His album, “Oxymoron,” hit number one on the Billboard 100. In 2014 and 2016, the artist garnered two Grammy nominations. Following the release of his album in 2019, fans saw far less of the artist for some time until the recent release of his “Blue Lips” record.

Artistic Philosophy

In a recent interview, ScHoolboy Q opened up about his musical journey, offering fascinating insights into his approach to making music. He expressed his desire to deliver substantial depth in his work. For him, quality is more important than quantity.

“When it comes to music, I don’t look at it as like, ‘Oh, you have to drop every year. I do what I want because I move off peace and my experiences.”

As ScHoolboy Q so passionately stated, he only includes what is authentic (sourced from experience). In his words, “If I bring nothing to the table that comes from my life, I don’t feel I should put it out.”

ScHoolboy Q Moves From Mic To Tee

When someone with such amazing talent takes a break, people start to wonder where else they could be directing their energy. For Hanley’s been immersing himself in golf.

Golf isn’t new to ScHoolboy Q, and he has expressed that he grew up watching his family golf. For him, golfing started in earnest as a means of achieving mental well-being and evolved into much more.

According to the ScHoolboy Q, golf has had a profound impact on his life. Golf has proven to be both a therapeutic and lucrative pursuit.

As a source notes, “He was funding his time between new rap releases with money he made from golf.” That is pretty fascinating.

Dismantling Stereotypes

Why is it relevant? It is crucial to understand that performers and artists cannot be generalized as one homogenous entity. The individuals in question are ordinary people who possess a particular skill that they opt to employ to inspire or entertain others. Being a performer at one point doesn’t make someone a performer indefinitely. People do whatever works for them.

Some things weren’t working for ScHoolboy Q in the industry. It is also noted that he turned down endorsement deals because of discriminatory practices. A loss of deals equates to financial losses, whereas golf provided him with cash inflow and inner tranquility. In his words, “I was able to relax for five years. I made a lot of money off rap, but golf helped me a lot.”

Undoubtedly, golfing seems like a mutually beneficial option.

The Intersection of Artistry and Personal Pursuits in Hip-Hop

What does one do with this information? Sharing such information provides insight, enlightening those outside the industry to what is and is not genuine. This fosters a deeper understanding of artistry and the inner workings of the industry. Such knowledge enables outsiders to observe things with greater clarity. Knowledge is a principal tenant of hip-hop.

Rooting For ScHoolboy Q:

May ScHoolboy Q find success in all his pursuits. If he comes back to music, he will have a fan base ready to receive whatever he’s dropping.

Yara Shahidi’s Day Off: Golfing With 2x Olympic Gold Medal Snowboarder Chloe Kim

Watching Yara Shahidi’s Day Off is an entertaining and informative way for viewers to learn about the activities in her celebrity friends’ lives. For those who missed it, last week’s episode of Yara Shahidi’s Day Off, presented by actress, scholar, and passionate music nerd Yara Shahidi, is now available on Facebook Watch. This episode features two-time Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Chloe Kim, who speaks about her heritage, identity, and how she discovered her passions and hobbies.

The discussion begins with Yara congratulating Chloe on her second gold medal and asking how she became a snowboarder.

“It was so random. Born and raised in Southern California. And when you think Southern California, you don’t think snow,” said Chloe. “Absolutely, right. My dad actually really wanted to try getting into snow sports just for fun. He took me snowboarding one day. I started when I was four. And I probably threw a lot of temper tantrums because I was cold. And I was falling a lot. You know?”

Kim emphasized that the experience was somewhat inconvenient since she was only four years old. Despite this, she started to enjoy snowboarding at the age of five or six, not only because of the experience but also because it allowed her to connect with her father.

“I’m really grateful for that,” said Kim. “We have such a great relationship, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we had a shared activity that we did together very frequently.”

A Conversation Between Yara Shandi and Chloe Kim Regarding Traditions, Family, and Sense of Self

As they move on to the next topic, Chloe and Yara discuss identity, family, and traditions. As Shahidi begins her statement, she asserts her desire to explore and connect with her Iranian and Black heritage. Following that, she asks Chloe if she has had a similar experience or if she has a family tradition or moment that is particularly meaningful to her.

“So, growing up, I kind of had a bit of an identity crisis. Because being first-gen Korean-American, I would wake up in a very Korean environment,” Chloe explained. “And the minute I walked out the door, it was very American.”

Moreover, Kim sometimes felt out of place. However, she has learned to embrace her American roots, including celebrating Thanksgiving as part of her American heritage. At 14, the snowboarder decided to participate in the holiday celebrations. Even though both her parents enjoyed the different holidays and traditions, they wanted their daughter to feel as though she was experiencing somehow, shape, or form, and had something to discuss with her friends.

“But I mean, I love my Korean heritage. I love the food and the culture. Everything is so beautiful,” said Kim. “I think my favorite– my mom makes me seaweed soup on my birthday, and it’s my favorite food in the world.”

The world in which we live is characterized by a great deal of curiosity about the traditions of other cultures. It is an inherent characteristic of human nature.

Trying New Things

Further, into the delightful conversation, Yara mentioned some of Kim’s interests, such as her love of animals and golf. Following this, Chloe is asked whether she believes “there’s a through line in how you develop certain interests? Or why do you feel like you’re so down to experience new things all the time?”

“Snowboarding brings me a lot of joy. But I started snowboarding when I was four, and I started taking it more seriously when I was seven.” However, Chloe was “committed by the age of seven.”

Due to this, she felt as though she had missed out on some of her childhood. However, now that she is an adult with more time on her hands, she is open to trying all of these things that she might not have been able to try without committing to snowboarding at an early age.

It has been a fascinating journey for Chloe, as her interests have led her down many different paths. Because of this, Yara had to inquire about her intentions regarding not only going to school but also to a prestigious school like Princeton.

“I’d just never really had a normal schooling experience. And watching all these movies and shows about prom and, I don’t know, going on field trips, things like that,” Chloe explained. “But I wanted to let myself have that moment where I kind of felt this sense of normalcy and went to school, lived in the dorm. And I really needed it.”

Expansion of Chloe’s Horizons

Furthermore, she asserts that meeting people not affiliated with snowboarding was refreshing since snowboarding is a bit like a bubble. At first, the Southern California native was unaware of how giant the bubble was until she stepped outside of it and encountered new individuals.

“How do you feel like that shaped you, then, going back into the sport?” Yara Shahidi asked.

Kim expressed that she found the most valuable lesson to be reassuring herself that she has a variety of activities to choose from. “I knew that if this didn’t work out, if I decided I didn’t want to snowboard anymore, I didn’t have to worry because there was always something out there for me. And I could achieve that.”

Fortunately, Shahidi made a compelling point by stating that people may view Chloe as young and successful. However, they may not realize the importance and excitement of immersing themselves in new environments. This is particularly true after spending time and energy learning about a particular field.

“Totally. I think my closest friends from school actually didn’t really know who I was. And that was really refreshing, too, because when people meet me, they’re like, ‘Oh, my god, you’re so chill.’ I’m like, why?” Kim said.

She contends that simply because she has accomplished things and is good at something does not imply that she is not like a regular person. In addition, Kim states that people tend to overlook that we are human beings. This response from Chloe was spot on. Celebrities are idolized by many people, forgetting that they are still ordinary individuals, just wealthy and famous.

Yara Believes Kim Is An Inspirational Figure For Young Women and Girls

Throughout history, there have been many notable female figures who have inspired and influenced women and girls. According to Yara, Chloe is one of those women.

“I genuinely just do what I love. And it just worked out for me in that way, where I was able to have this platform and have the opportunity to inspire other young women. And I’m honored,” said Kim.

The sport of snowboarding appears to be both challenging and enjoyable. For the sake of curiosity, Yara asked Chloe, “what do you find absolutely fun about snowboarding each time?”

One of the things she enjoys most is pushing herself and proving to herself that she can accomplish things that initially seem impossible. She finds that accomplishing those things is even more rewarding than anything else she has ever achieved.

Tips

As a final question, Shahidi asked Chloe for “any personal tips” on overcoming frustration, pushing past the initial obstacle to embracing the experience.

“Yeah. I’m very dramatic and extreme. So sometimes, in snowboarding, for example, it gets to a point where I’ll be trying a trick, and I just can’t get it to save my life. And I’m so extreme, I’m like, ‘I don’t care if I hurt myself. I’m just going to go do it.’ And just that pushes me past that point, and I’m able to do it,” she exclaimed. “And, of course, I care if I hurt myself. That’d be so inconvenient. But just mentally, I have to get in this I-don’t-care-about-anything state to get there.”

Later, they head to the golf course, where Chloe teaches Yara the fundamentals of the game. Her inexperience with the sport led to her missing a few game scores. While there, Yara was able to learn, have fun, and gain a thorough insight into the sport of golf and snowboarding from Chloe.

Tiger Woods Joins Michael Jordan and Lebron James In Billionaire Club

Today Forbes announced that legendary golfer, Tiger Woods, achieved an estimated net worth of over one-billion dollars.  Tiger Woods now stands among the most elite and successful athletes in sports history.  Tiger finds himself joining Michael Jordan and Lebron James as one member of the trinity of billionaire athletes.

Welcome to the Billionaire’s Club

The four time Master’s Tournament winner achieved this significant milestone mostly thanks to his entrepreneurship off of the green.

In recent years Tiger Woods has seen financial success in his company TGR Design, a firm specializing in the development of golf courses.  Course design has become a prominent post golf career for many professionals in the sport.  Tiger is notable for working with his TGR company while still touring.

The news of Tiger Woods’ billion dollar net worth is also notable has he accomplished this incredible feat without assistance from the upcoming Saudi Arabian professional golfing circuit, the LIV Tour.  The LIV Tour has made waves in the golfing world in recent weeks.  In part because the tour has drawn many famous PGA players away with lucrative deals.  Tiger Woods was one of the few to turn down the offer.

A Phoenix Rising

Such good news coming from Tiger’s camp is a welcome change of pace.  For the last year and half the golfer experienced no shortage of difficulties. First in February of last year came the horrific car crash.  Which put serious doubt on his ability to keep playing.  However, he miraculously recovered and made appearances in two majors this year.  These appearances were followed by underwhelming performances.  He had to withdraw play from the PGA Championship after he posted his worst round of professional golf in his career.

Despite of all these setbacks as of late Tiger Woods continued to make the kinds of sound financial decisions that brought him to his current state.  Through numerous brand deals with Nike, Monster Energy, and TaylorMade plus his consulting course work he has become one of the most financially successful athletes in the entire history of the sporting world.

Schoolboy Q Features In Tiger Woods Nike Golf Commercial

ScHoolboy Q is as passionate about golf as anybody in hip-hop can be. For his love of golf, Nike invited Q to appear in an advertisement highlighting Tiger Woods’ journey to the mountaintop.

Moreover, the commercial aired during round one of the Masters on Thursday (Apr 7).

“What would you be willing to do to chase your dream,” the Los Angeles-born rapper asks as he plays his first shot. “Would you be willing to follow it to a place you’re not welcome?”

Similarly, afterward, the ad displays Tiger successfully overcoming injuries to win five Masters Tournaments.

“Would you open doors for people like me? For people like us,” Q says directly to Tiger. “It isn’t just about golf; it’s about succeeding against all odds.”

Schoolboy Q Draws Inspiration From Tiger Woods’s Talent

In addition, thanks to Tiger Woods, ScHoolboy Q represents a generation of Black golfers who are inspired to play the sport.

“Coming from where I come from, the life that I had, I never thought about playing golf,” the Top Dawg Entertainment artist has said during the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. “I got into it, and it changed my mental; it let me learn myself as a person.”

“Like, this is why certain things in my life are going bad, or certain things are going good, because of the attitude thing,” the artist added. “It fixed my attitude in life. It fixed a whole lot of things about me in life.”

Since he’s now a master golfer, ScHoolboy Q will be thinking about the Masters throughout the weekend. As Tiger Woods returns from a severe leg injury, he sustained in a car accident in 2021.

Music-wise, Q has also dropped his “Soccer Dad” single on April 6, which could launch his next album.

Overall, we at FMHipHop would like to extend our congratulations to Schoolboy Q for his appearance in the Nike Golf commercial. Also, as you go after your dreams, we wish you nothing but the best.

Travis Scott Spotted Golfing With Michael Jordan & Mark Wahlberg

Travis Scott was spotted outside for the first time since the tragic Astroworld incident. Scott reportedly had not left his home in Houston in any public way since Astroworld. However, he was able to escape the grief for a little bit on November 23. He went to SoCal to golf with some big wig friends. The people that he golfed with were Michael Jordan, Mark Wahlberg, Kris Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble, as well as Said Taghmaoui.

Witnesses spotted the famous trio Tuesday on the course attached to the gated Palm Springs-area community where Jenner has a home, according to TMZ. Scott still looked somber in some of the pictures taken of him. There is no escape from the pain he feels about the tragedy.

Twitter is mixed on this outing. Some people are seeing it as in bad taste for Scott to be trying to enjoy himself, while others are seeing it as a momentary escape from it all.

This outing was just two days after he has gotten two more lawsuits filed against him. Both of them are from security guards that worked at Astroworld. They both want $1 million in damages. These lawsuits will probably be dropped.

According to his attorney, Ed McPherson, Scott was not aware of the scope of casualties until several hours after the show. He has since promised to pay all funeral expenses for the Astroworld victims. He is also providing free therapy treatment for survivors in partnership with the mental health organization BetterHelp.

Finding refuge in a tragic time

Astroworld was a terrible incident that had traumatized thousands of people. Travis Scott is among them. Having fun and being with friends is a healthy way to deal with the trauma. It would be a shame if he was shamed away from these therapeutic actions.

With Thanksgiving just days following the outing, Scott was in the right place to spend the holidays with his and Kylie Jenner’s family.
