Father Of Highland Shooter Doesn’t Regret Helping Son Get Murder Weapon

In the days following the Independence Day shooting in Highland Park that left 7 people dead, new info has surfaced. The suspect’s father—Robert Crimo Jr.—is responsible for getting the FOID card that allowed his son to obtain the murder weapon. Despite this, he claims he isn’t liable.

In an interview with ABC News, Crimo Jr. said the shooting was a shock. However, people pointed out that Crimo III has a history of acts of violence and doesn’t understand how his father never caught on. According to the Illinois Police, months before the Highland Park shooter applied for the firearm permit, he threatened to kill his family.

The elder Crimo admitted to knowing his son possessed a gun. As a result, people across leading media platforms are criticizing Crimo Jr.’s role in the shooting. Crimo Jr. claims his family is on the receiving end of death threats.

Other People Who Knew Crimo

It’s not just Crimo’s father sharing his opinion. Those who went to school with Crimo shared their perspective. Former classmate Ethan Absler said he had an odd demeanor but left everyone’s radar after graduation. “Seeing him in the halls, I thought he was kind of creepy,” he said.

The red flags he was posting on social media went unnoticed because he wasn’t talking to most of the people at the school.

At one point, Crimo fancied himself a rapper called Awake The Dreamer. Violent fantasies and imagery often accompanied his music. Counterterrorism expert John Cohen said Crimo was obsessed with violence that should’ve been caught by social media filters. Crimo allegedly alluded to the shooting for quite some time. The FBI raided the Crimo family home in Highwood, IL. At the time, the suspect’s father tried contacting his son but failed. Robert E. Crimo III went missing for hours after the shooting but was eventually caught at a traffic stop. Robert Crimo Jr. says he still doesn’t know his son’s motives.

GOP Senator Darren Bailey Criticized After Statements On Highland Park Shooting

Illinois Senator, Darren Bailey, is in hot water after remarks made following the mass shooting in Highland Park yesterday. Robert E. Crimo III killed seven people and injured at least 30 during an Independence Day parade. Crimo was still at large hours after the shooting. As a result, other suburbs in the area canceled their celebrations. During a Facebook livestream in Skokie, Bailey expressed his feelings about the shooting a mere hour after it happened.

The shooter is still at large, so let’s pray for justice to prevail, and then let’s move on and let’s celebrate — celebrate the independence of this nation.

The senator continued, saying canceling festivities in Skokie was the right move because safety comes first. Later, he called for a “special session” to discuss crime and the prosecution of criminals.

Reactions To Bailey’s Statements

Sen. Bailey has since apologized for his statements. But not before critics dragged him through the mud. Political pundit and sportscaster Keith Olbermann referred to him on Twitter as “Trump’s soulless candidate for governor of Illinois.” U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger said in reference to Bailey’s approval from Trump, “This is what happens with MAGA type candidates…they lost the ability to have compassion.” Bailey apologized, saying he intended to pray for the victims and their families while advocating for the capture of Crimo. He said he didn’t mean to diminish the emotions of the people of Illinois with his statement. Bailey didn’t directly relay the statement, but a spokesperson spoke to USA Today on his behalf.

Darren Bailey is running for governor of Illinois against billionaire incumbent JB Pritzker. Pritzker and a few other donors spent millions of dollars to help Bailey win the primary. The reason? To allegedly ensure having an easier opponent to beat come November. It’s unclear if Bailey’s statements will be forgotten in the near future, but if it doesn’t, it’s likely to impact his popularity in the polls. According to The Boston Globe, there have been at least 314 mass shootings in 2022.

FBI Raids Home of Mass Shooter Suspect Robert Crimo

On Monday, July 4, several FBI agents exited an armored vehicle and raided the home of Robert Crimo. The raid happened around 4:30 p.m. in Highwood, Illinois in a house where Crimo lives with his family. TMZ obtained footage of the raid where you can see just how many agents were outside the suspect’s home.

The video shows the raid team slowly walking up to the front and side entrances of the house, guns drawn. One agent shouts “It’s the FBI. If you’re inside, come out with your hands up,” and bangs on the door. The cops identified Robert Crimo as a “person of interest” in the mass shooting that occurred on Monday, July 4. The second team of agents walked along the side of the house with their guns pointed at the windows. Finally, the agents entered the home from an unlocked door and found a high-powered rifle.

Witnesses of the raid said that the agents stayed for several hours and took photos. It is unclear if the raid ended in any arrest or the discovery of crucial evidence besides the rifle that was found. While the agents were at Crimo’s house, the suspect’s father drove up to the home and began speaking with the agents. The suspect’s father tried to call his son but was unable to and left a voicemail telling Crimo the FBI was looking for him.

Details on Crimo’s Suspected Crime

If the 22-year-old is indeed the gunman then he is responsible for the shooting that occurred during a fourth of July Parade. The parade took place in Highland Park but turned deadly when a shooter opened fire on people from a rooftop. As a result of the shooting seven people died and more than two dozen suffered serious wounds. The ages of the victims ranged from 8 to 85.

Robert E. Crimo III Is The Main Suspect of Highland Park Shooting And A Self-Claimed Hip-Hop Artist

On July 4th, a mass shooting occurred during the holiday parade in Chicago’s Highland Park. The attack caused six deaths and dozens of injuries. The police have listed Robert E. Crimo III as the main suspect.

On the morning of July 4th, the suspect climbed up to the roof of a nearby store, then shot down at the parade. Crimo used a high-powered rifle to shoot, which he also legally bought earlier. Highland Park, where the shooting occurred, has also had assault weapons under a ban since 2013.

Two of the six deaths have been publicly identified so far. Nicolas Toledo is one of them. He was at the parade with his family. Said family has started a GoFundMe to help with the funeral expenses. The other victim was Jacki Sundheim. Her North Shore Congregation Israel synagogue also wrote some things about Sundheim on their website.

Details Of The Highland Park Shooting & Arrest

The shooting was not until 15 minutes into the parade. This is the first parade that Highland Park has had since the pandemic began. At first, people thought that it was fireworks going off until they realized the horrible truth. After the shooting, he blended in with the crowd, wearing women’s clothes. This was to hide his face and tattoo.

Crimo was listed as the main suspect and was taken into custody last night. After an hour-long chase, law enforcement eventually caught the suspect at a traffic stop.

According to Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering, some of Crimo’s online posts “reflected a plan and a desire to commit carnage for a long time in advance.” Some of his music videos had also shown some violent implications.

Who is “Awake?”

Crimo initially appeared under his Hip-Hop nickname “Awake” in 2016 when he released his first single, “By the Pond.” The song later disappeared from all stores and streaming services. Crimo mainly focused on mixtapes after that.

Youtube probably deleted Crimo’s channel in 2020, with his last song, “BANG.”

According to the Daily Beast, Crimo’s videos had been presenting violent imagery and mass shooting fantasies. According to Mark Heyes, who was in cub scouts with Crimo as children, the suspected mass shooter was a loner. He would ride around the neighborhood, and nearby nature preserves, blasting heavy metal. Robert Crimo’s uncle, Paul Crimo, told Fox that he did not notice any warning signs in his nephew’s behavior.

There have been criticisms about how police handle white criminals, such as Crimo, compared to Jayland Walker. The notion is that despite being unarmed, Walker was deemed a more significant threat than Crimo, who had a gun in the trunk.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown.
