Louisiana Rapper JayDaYoungan Dead At 24; His Father Says He And His Son Were Ambushed By Five Gunmen

When will it end? Every year, multiple rappers (particularly black men) are killed due to gun violence. As a nation, we must do better than what we are doing right now. On Wednesday, July 27, 24-year-old rapper JayDaYoungan was fatally shot in his hometown, Louisiana.

In recent years, the “Opps” rapper has made headlines due to frequent run-ins with the law. Not only was JayDaYoungan shot and killed, his father was shot as well, but he survived.

As revealed in a conversation with TMZ, Kenyatta Scott, who remains in the hospital, said he and his son were ambushed by five shooters who approached them outside their Louisiana home.

Black people seemed to be united in the 1950s and 1960s, during a time when they were experiencing civil rights. Some Black people have been at odds with each other since the 1970s. For children to be taught and lead by example, this hatred towards each other must cease between adults. If people want to demonstrate humility, expressing their issues in a non-emotional manner would be much better than using violence to solve their problems.

Where Was The Louisiana Rapper And His Father At Before The Shooting?

During the time leading up to the shooting, Scott and JayDaYangan were sitting in the front yard of their house. Suddenly, a black truck appeared, and three people jumped out with guns. Kenyatta and his son attempted to run inside the house. However, despite their efforts, two more attackers, who also had guns in their possession, approached the side of the property and promptly started firing shots at them.

Kenyatta, carrying a gun at the time, shot back at his aggressors in self-defense for himself and his son. As a result of the shooting, Scott suffered two injuries to his arm. Unfortunately, JayDaYoungan did not make it out alive. As a result, eight bullets were fired at him, and he lost a lot of blood.

As of yet, the police have not identified a suspect or made any arrests, but they believe that only one shooter is responsible. There is no further information available at this time.

Jealousy

The father of the slain rapper JDY described his son as a “good, humble and respectful kid.” Scott continued stating that his son is not known to the shooters, nor does he believe that the shooting was related to gang activity. As per TMZ,” Scott thinks whoever was behind the shooting was envious of JDY’s success.”

Nothing is worse than people refusing to support someone because of jealousy. Instead of being envious, why not take a moment to find out how to achieve the same level of success as the person you envy? In addition, a post on JayDaYoungan’s Instagram page indicates that he has a young son. Sadly, his son will have to live without his father for the rest of his life.

Here are some of the reactions that fans had to the passing of the Louisana rapper.

Master P Adds “Ice Cream Man” To His Memoir As He Launches His Own Snow Cone Brand

Master P continues his success in the food industry by releasing a delectable frozen treat! The cold concoction called New Orleans Style Snow Cones has different flavors like blue raspberry, cherry, grape, green apple, lemonade, orangesicle, and bubblegum. Master P has other products like Soldier and Rap Snacks, noodles, and cereal. His love for food stems from his interest in the industry. He told TMZ Hip-Hop that “companies like Kellogg’s and Kraft rooted themselves in the business and have revenue streams that outlast entertainment careers in music, sports, and movies.”

Master P hopes his business ventures will show the youth how innovative products can take them further than just talent. The former rapper has 30 years of food expertise under his belt. Additionally, he’s partnering up with Snoop Dogg for a special food project. Although the menu is still in the works, Master P says this collaboration has been set up for years.

“In order to build economic empowerment, it starts with ownership. We need more diversity in these national chain stores. Product outweighs talent and it’s ok to have more than one product. A lot of these companies start small and build their businesses on family names,” he says.

The Washington Post reported last year that Master P is the Chief Executive of P. Miller Enterprises. This endeavor has seen the launch of  common grocery items products like ramen noodles, flour, rice, breakfast cereal, frying mix, and other pantry staples. He told BET last year,

“You measure success by what you can give, not what you have. That’s why my life has grown and evolved. I’m happier helping others than all the other things that I do. So, I guess that’s where it comes from. It comes from watching my people hurt and seeing that I can be a blessing to others. We’ve been doing this for 25 years, and it’s a blessing to be able to give millions back to the community and the culture.”

He also told BET that his love for food comes from his bloodline:

” How I got into it is through my grandfather, Claude Miller,” he explains. “He was a Vietnam veteran, and he cooked for the military people. And then when he came back home, in the projects in the community, everybody always ate at our house.”

Boosie Badazz Confronts Man at Hotel After He Was Seen Being Rude To a Woman

Boosie Badazz confronted a man outside a hotel and claimed the man was being disrespectful towards a female staff member. The rapper has never been one to hold his tongue and proved this once again when he got in the man’s face and began to shout loudly. Just so the man knew that the way he was talking to the female staff member upset the Louisiana native.

Boosie heard the man talking to a female staff member in an unpleasant tone and was not having it. In a video shot outside the hotel, though the exact location is unknown, Boosie jumps into action almost immediately. In the video, posted by Justin Whitehead, Boosie tells the man “You ain’t gonna talk to her like that. I will beat your azz!! You ain’t gonna talk to no women like that.”

As soon as Boosie Badazz is involved the air in the situation seems to shift drastically. The man who supposedly was being unpleasant towards the female staff member is suddenly quiet. The video shows Boosie surrounded by hotel employees trying to deescalate the situation. The woman who was supposedly being disrespected is also trying to calm the rapper down. People have pointed out the man in the black shirt, in the video, who seems to be stretching like getting ready for something to happen.

Thankfully the issue was resolved without anyone getting hurt, but as soon as the video popped up online, Boosie thought he should explain himself.

Boosie Badazz’s Explanation

“The reason I told that man that because he backed a woman down until she could do nothing,” Boosie said in a tweet. “He kept approaching her after she said sorry. Then he said no you go apologize to my wife too!! he was doing the most don’t let that video fool u.”

Boosie claims that the man kept pressing the woman even after she apologized, so he decided to step up. Read more stories on Boosie Badazz at FM Hip-Hop.

NBA YoungBoy’s Videos Removed from His YouTube Channel

YoungBoy Never Broke Again now has an empty YouTube channel.

Last Saturday, without so much as an announcement, all the videos on the 22 year-old rapper’s page disappeared. Indeed, no statement has yet come from YouTube, or YoungBoy himself.

Though boasting some ten million subscribers, the YouTube page is now nonetheless devoid of videos. In addition to this, total view count for the videos added up to over nine billion. What’s more, the Louisiana rapper is one of the most-streamed hip hop artists on YouTube, just behind Drake and Juice WRLD.

The Streaming Graveyard

It is not uncommon for artists to be removed from streaming services. Back in August, legendary rapper Fat Joe’s What Would Big Do 2021disappeared from streaming sites. Rappers like Boosie Badazz, Azelia Banks, and Lil Reese have all had content removed. However, these were due to controversies and various social cancellations. So far as anyone can tell, YoungBoy’s content was simply taken down without comment. The account itself was a major money-maker for NBA, so it seems unlikely that he would have removed his own videos.

YoungBoy in Autumn

Prior to this, November had been a good month for YoungBoy. He put out a compilation album entitled Never Broke Again: The Compilation, Vol. 1, featuring rappers like Meechy Baby and P Yungin. And just last week, he released a new single, “Safe Then Sorry (Interlude)”, which had already racked up a million views on YouTube at the time of removal.

Last month, the “Bandit” rapper was released from prison, following him posting $1.5 million in bail, relocating from Louisiana to Utah. He remains under house arrest in Utah, facing numerous federal weapons and drug charges stemming from an incident in Los Angeles, California earlier this year.

Power Slowly Returns to Louisiana in Wake of Hurricane Ida

Some power has begun to return to the people of Louisiana. Still, the road ahead will be a difficult one for the state. As of Tuesday night, nearly one million people are without power in the wake of Hurricane Ida.

The storm smashed into the gulf state last Sunday, bringing torrential rains and clocking winds as fast as 150mph. The Category 4 storm made landfall at Port Fourchon, some sixty miles south of New Orleans. Now, the fallout from the storm could have people without power for weeks, possibly for a month, report officials in southern Louisiana.

Entergy, a major utility company and power supplier in Louisiana, has an uphill battle. Fighting against the damage and a heat wave is an army of electrical workers.  According to the Associated Press, 11,000 Entergy workers are working around the clock to restore power to customers across Louisiana. Currently, 89% of Entergy customers in Orleans Parish are without power. That accounts for approximately 173,000 people. Joining Entergy are some 25,000 other electrical workers recruited and deployed from across the country.

Powering up after Hurricane Ida

The efforts of the workers are starting to show. In Eastern New Orleans, customers are reporting improvements, and the lights are starting come back on for The Big Easy. However, the vast majority of New Orleans remains stuck in the dark. It is unclear when the rest of the city will get power back, and crews have their work cut out for them.

In a nutshell, the work is focusing on transmission lines. These direct power from power stations to smaller stations, and eventually to urban and/or residential areas. Once these can be fixed, power should steadily come back. Yet, the people of Louisiana will have to wait. Priority is going to hospitals, shelters, communication centers, and fire stations.

Crews will continue working feverishly to make improvements and restore functionality to the state. In the meantime, in New Orleans and across Louisiana will simply have to wait.

NBA Youngboy Arrested in LA

Louisiana by far is the most underrated state in terms of music. When it comes to food and events, Louisiana reigns supreme. Mardi Gras and the Bayou classic are two events that draw a big crowd every year. And also Essence Fest. Nevertheless, Louisiana music is ‘eh.’ First off, I am not talking down on Louisiana music because I grew up in Louisiana. I am referring to the lack of support Louisiana music receives. Jazz and Blues, on the other hand, are different. You can not bring up Louisiana without Jazz and Blues and vice versa. Hip Hop on the other, ‘eh.’

Now I might come off as being biased because I’m from there. But if you grew up in the Bossie and Webbie era, you would be too. That’s why it’s very disappointing to hear what happened to NBA Youngboy. The 21-year-old rapper was arrested yesterday after reportedly fleeing from LAPD officers from a traffic stop and outstanding warrant. The arrest involves even the LAPD using a K-9 unit to track him down. Reportedly there was a firearm found in the vehicle. But it’s unclear whether if it’s the rapper or not.

For Kentrell Gaulden (NBA Youngboy), this isn’t the first time being in trouble with the law. The rapper has a long history with law enforcement. It can even go back before he officially started being a rapper. I was rooting for Gaulden. Despite people criticizing his music, which I did in the very beginning. He grew on to me. Seeing his rise from being local to being known internationally is unbelievable. Amongst many previous Louisiana rappers, he was the newest edition to add to the recognition Louisiana deserves. And push Louisiana rap into the forefront. Sadly, too bad his talent can’t overshadow his stint with the law.
