Amber Rose Vs. Kanye West…Again Who Put Nicki Minaj on ‘Monster’

History tends to repeat itself. Especially when it comes to Amber Rose vs. Kanye West. The two recently have been disagreeing about who actually put Nicki Minaj on Kanye’s hit “Monster.”

Amber Rose Vs. Kanye West-Who Hired Nicki?

Kanye West’s “Monster” had over a million sales. And was said to be one of Nicki’s greatest 16s of her career. But that isn’t why there is talk around the song right now. Kanye’s ex Amber Rose claims that she is the reason Minaj was on the track in the first place.

On July 19, while appearing on the “Higher Learning” podcast with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay. Rose spoke not only about her new rap single “GYHO,” but also about how she has a way of finding talent. “I have a good ear. I’ve A&R’d a bunch of amazing projects.” When the hosts asked specifically who she has helped she simply said, “All of my boyfriends.” Which includes Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, and 21 Savage.

As the interview continued Lathan and Lindsay finally got her to admit that the West project she was referring to was true “Monster.” Saying Ye didn’t even know who Nicki was back then and she was the one that got her to come to the studio and record the verse. Rose says that she previously heard Minaj in the studio and knew instantly she needed to be on the track. But when she went back to Kanye his initial reaction was “What? Who? No!” Although he was hesitant at first. He decided to meet the up and coming artist. After she recorded, Amber says that Kanye actually considered removing her part because it was too good! Nicki’s former boyfriend, Safaree, even confirmed this news by commenting on an Instagram post about Rose’s claim.

The Amber Rose vs. Kanye West battles isn’t going away any time soon!

Nicki Minaj’s Ye’s Diss at Essence Festival Has Fans Wondering What’s Up?

Friday, Jul 1st, the “Monster” co-author, Nicki Minaj, was ready to thrill crowds at the Essence Festival. Since 2022 marks a prolific comeback for the lyricist, fans were highly hyped to catch her perform. However, there was one moment of her set which would take Minaj viral, a not-so-subtle Kanye diss.

The Deets of Nicki Minaj’s Diss

The “Shopaholic” artist was heavy into her set, rocking a few familiars and fan favorites. In the thick of Nicki Minaj’s performance, the DJ slid into a track of “Monster.” However, Minaj wasn’t feeling the groove. She broke in with a statement letting the DJ and the crowd know she wasn’t performing that. The comment suggesting the DJ quickly cut to the next track was even more curious.

“A monster, though,” Nicki Minaj said to the crowd. “A monster, though! But we don’t fuck with clowns.”

Everyone seemed to get the point.

Theories Surrounding the Sentiment

While Minaj has had a past collaborative relationship with Ye, it’s clear she’s not feeling him right now. There are a lot of theories as to why Minaj made the statement. Some rumors of Nicki’s ill feelings tie into Ye’s collaborative relationship with Cardi. Others think it hinges on Ye’s move to put the brakes on “New Body.”

“New Body”

In 2018 crowds went around with the rumors swirling that Ye was not only working on a new album, but it would include a track with Minaj and Ty Dolla Sign. It would be Ye’s ninth album. The title of the proposed album would be “Yandhi.” However, “Yandhi” never saw the light of day. She wasn’t the only one flabbergasted.

Ye instead decided to release “Jesus is King.” So, unfortunately, Minaj’s track was scrapped with several others. So naturally, Minaj was less than happy with the decision.

Nicki Minaj’s Feelings on Ye’s Decision

Minaj went public with her thoughts earlier this year. She felt some way about using her time and effort for naught. In her words

“So, what I thought was interesting was Kanye made me write my “New Body” verse four times over to fit into where he was creatively and spiritually in his life. … I missed it by a year, I guess.”

So, it is easy to believe her recent comments could stem back to this. But then again, it could be a mix of that and several other things. Back in 2010, the artist was extolling the virtues of Ye.

Nevertheless, things do change.

It’s not clear why she said it; it’s clear that she said it. She’s not dealing with Ye now. However, for the moment, fans continued to enjoy the rest of the stars set. Whether the artist will expound more on her exact sentiments later remains unclear. If she does, FM has got you.

Netflix Releases “Monster” Trailer, Reveals Premier Date

Netflix released the trailer for their film “Monster” and it’s heavy!

Based on the award-winning 1999 novel by Walter Dean Myers, the story follows African-American teen Steve Harmon (Kelvin Harrison Jr.). The trailer begins with somber piano chords while showing us Steve’s life, the seemingly normal life of a teenager.

We see Steve interacting with his family, in the classroom, talking to friends, and around the neighborhood. We then see a gunshot, and Steve is handcuffed in court. What happened? How did he get here? Is Steve indeed a “Monster”?

The film is Executive Produced by John Legend, Nasir “Nas” Jones, and Jeffrey Wright, of which the latter 2 also star in the film.

The cast is comprised of a host of familiar faces including; Jennifer Hudson, John David Washington, Jharrel Jerome, Rakim “A$AP Rocky” Mayers, and more.

The trailer presents so many unanswered questions and closes with the most poignant one; “Should one moment define my life?”. Because I’m a nerd I’m going to attempt at reading the book before the movie debuts. Will you watch Netflix’s “Monster” on Friday, May 7th? Let us know in the comments.

#FMTrends: The Beats Saga Continues

In case you’re wondering, Beats Electronics is trying to collect $71 million in unpaid royalties from the audio-video cable maker Monster. After auditors calculated the exchange rates, Beats believes they are owed a cool $95 million.

Beats filed a breach of contract with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Sept. 15, 2017. But history shows this has been going for nearly eight years.

Allow me to break it down

Beats and Monster became business buddies in August 2009. The two had an ironclad distribution agreement where Beats tapped Monster to make and market Beats by Dr. Dre headphones.

By 2011, Beats decided to end its partnership with Monster and then jumped into the sack with the smartphone manufacturer HTC.

In 2012, Beats signed several distribution and royalty agreements after the licensing deal ended with Monster. Although the Monster licensing deal was a one and done, Beats allowed Monster to sell some products in selected retail stores.

Then on a beautiful money-making day in August 2014, Apple Inc. opened up its chest full of cash and sealed the deal to buy Beats for $3.2 billion.

And no, Beats didn’t share any of the proceeds from the deal with Monster.

A year after the deal Monster and its founder Noel Lee sued Beats, Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine and HTC, claiming they were cheated out of their stake in the headphone company in the Apple deal. A Los Angeles state court judge threw out the lawsuit in August 2016.

Are you still following? Great. Allow me to continue.

Let’s go back to June 2015 when Law360.com reported that Beats was fighting another royalty lawsuit. This time it was for royalties for the first and second set of fancy headphones. Or was it the third set of designer headphones? It doesn’t even matter. The judge ended up agreeing with Beats.

But then there was an appeal!

The court of appeal found the agreement’s language problematic. “There is no language in the contract limiting the agreement to a single product or model,” wrote Presiding Judge Roger Boren. “Thus, the agreement is certainly reasonably susceptible to an interpretation that it covers more than just the original, Studio, headphone model.”

If you’re in the mood to dive deeper, you can get the full breakdown at LawJournalNewsletters.com.

Dear Beats Electronics vs. Monster,

I thoroughly looked into this case and it totally reeks of confusion. I can’t even try to figure this out…but I will say this:

Beats – you should have known things were going to get messy after Apple gave you $3 billion for your headphones.

Monster – let this be a lesson to you. Structure better deals.

Sincerely,

@TCsViews
