“RRR’s” “Naatu Naatu” Wins Best Original Song At The 95th Academy Awards, Sparking An Increase In Google Searches

According to recently released data from Google search, global online searches for Naatu Naatu by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava surged by an impressive 1,105% on Mar 13. This came after the 2022 Telugu-language movie RRR won the prestigious Best Original Song award at the 95th Academy Awards.

A recent study conducted by Japanese online casino guide 6Takarakuji found that the interest in ‘Naatu Naatu’ skyrocketed to more than ten times the average volume within just a few hours of the film’s victory at the Oscars. This sudden spike in interest is a testament to the movie’s impact on the global audience, making it a significant cultural phenomenon.

Since its release in March of last year, the Indian song has taken the world by storm and has achieved massive popularity on TikTok, earning a staggering 52.6 million views. The song features a fast-paced rhythm that perfectly fits the electrifying dance battle between the legendary revolutionaries and their colonial oppressors, making it a fan favorite across various platforms. The song’s catchy tune and vibrant choreography have taken it to global acclaim, making it a cultural landmark in the music industry.

South Asian Dancers Express Disapproval Of ‘Naatu Naatu’ Oscar Performance

Various news outlets, including Variety, L.A. Times, and IndieWire, reported that the performance of  “Naatu Naatu” at the 95th Academy Awards received significant criticism for not including any South Asian dancers, even though “RRR is a movie about Indian history and music.

The lack of representation has been a major disappointment for South Asian dance professionals, who saw it as a missed opportunity to showcase their talent on a global platform.

In addition, there was greater diversity in the Oscars’ version of the dance than in the film, in which Indian characters dance against mainly white British men. However, the absence of South Asian performers has raised concerns regarding the Oscars’ commitment to marginalized communities having equal access to opportunities and resources.

“Respectfully, where is the representation?” choreographer Joya Kazi inquires in an Instagram post before the performance.

However, dancer Achinta S. McDaniel wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, telling Variety, “Some people say, ‘Just be happy with what we got,’ and that’s part of [the problem] — this idea of just accepting the scraps that are thrown to you. Just be happy an Indian song was nominated [and won]. Don’t be mad about the overwhelming racism that appeared in the performance.”

Infamous Controversies Involving Celebrities

During the 2020 Oscars, Eminem’s surprise performance of his Oscar-winning song “Lose Yourself” from the movie “8 Mile” received mixed reactions from the audience. The decision to feature a song released almost 20 years ago surprised some and angered others.

Furthermore, the Oscars received backlash in 2018 due to their treatment of the posthumous nomination of Kobe Bryant, who was accused of sexual assault in 2003. Some believed that recognizing Bryant was wrong and ignored the harm caused to his accuser while also sending a negative message about the entertainment world’s position on sexual crimes.

These incidents, along with others, have brought to light the importance of inclusion and diversity in the entertainment industry. In addition, they have led to ongoing discussions and efforts toward creating a more inclusive and equal industry.

6Takarakuji’s Spokesperson Reacts To Success Of RRR’s “Naatu Naatu” Performance

Based on the study, 6Takarakuji’s spokesperson stated that during this year’s Oscars ceremony, ‘Naatu Naatu’ made history by becoming the first song from an Indian film to win in the Best Song category.

‘The song won over the likes of music legends such as Lady Gaga and Rihanna, which is a testament to the song’s huge popularity, as highlighted by the huge spike in this data. During the Oscars ceremony, the electrifying live performance of the song by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava received a standing ovation from the crowd, and this historic win will give RRR and ‘Naatu Naatu’ some well-deserved exposure.”

Preview: Yara Shahidi’s Day Off Season Finale With Legendary Rapper Nas

It’s the end of the road! On Dec 1, Yara Shahidi’s Day Off will premiere its season finale on Facebook Watch. While drinking mocktails, host Yara Shahidi plays games and shares old and new family stories with multi-platinum recording artist Nas, his daughter Destiny, and her brother Sayeed. In addition, Nas discusses where he came from, what’s in store for him, and the significance of investing in the younger generation.

Season Finale Details

During the episode, Nas and Destiny discuss their experience at last year’s Grammy Awards. According to her, the best part of the experience was sharing a trailer with her father. Nas revealed he had never thought he would perform at a Grammy award ceremony and was nervous about the event due to its magnitude.

“The Grammy performance…I really didn’t think I would ever do one,” he said in response to remarks made by his daughter. “She’s right, I was backstage, and I was a little nervous because, you know, that’s a big show.” Nas believed that he had to give an exceptional performance to remember his songs and their words.

Watch the full episode here.

Nas Finally Won A Grammy

Furthermore, less than a year after winning his first and only Grammy for his groundbreaking 2020 work, King’s Disease, the rapper earned his 16th nomination at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night, April 3.

While collecting his flowers, Nas performed a medley of his most memorable songs. Among them are “I Can,” the 2001 single “One Mic,” and “Made You Look” from God’s Son.

Assisted by an orchestra, Esco, whom Trevor Noah called the “rapper’s rapper,” also performed “Rare” from King’s Disease II. The Grammys ceremony recognized Nas’ King’s Disease II as the year’s best rap album. However, the award ultimately went to Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost.

It’s Time To Recognize True Talent

It was an exciting year for Nas in 2021. It marked the 25th anniversary of his second studio album, It Was Written, which was released in 1996.

The fact that Nas has been around since the early 90s and has only just been presented with an award is ironic. His music conveys a sense of story and demonstrates excellent talent, but unfortunately, not everyone agrees. However, it is essential to note that not achieving deserved recognition does not imply an inability to do so in the future.

Special Thanks

The Yara Shahidi’s Day Off series was a great success. Thank you, Yara, for providing us with a brief insight into the lives of celebrities and educating us about your own. This show carried lots of entertainment and novelty! Let us hope that the season finale does not mark the end of the show as a whole.

Chris Brown Skips Hurricane Relief Show Or Did He? It’s Time To Set The Record Straight!

Rumor has it that Chris Brown didn’t fulfill his commitment to a benefit show recently. But did Chris Brown skip out on a hurricane relief show? The artist is finally setting the record straight about skipping the benefit show and how the organizer of the event has it all wrong.

Chris Brown Skips Hurricane Relief Show But Is Giving the Details On How It Went Down

On March 19 Brown was set to perform at the “One Night Only” show to raise money for victims of Hurricane Ida. However, LaJuan Bailey, the organizer of the event, claims Chris Brown bailed on his commitment. What makes things even worse, she says she spent over $1 million on Brown’s fees and accommodations. Including a private jet. But during sound check she got notice that he was canceling.

Chris’ team says they actually emailed the event on March 17 stating that the “Forever” artist wouldn’t be performing. So it was in fact two days before the event. And the reason he wasn’t performing was because of a violation to his contract. Since Bryson Tiller was removed from the lineup without a replacement. Now it is still unclear whether or not Bailey’s team knew before sound check and just didn’t tell her until last minute.

Brown continues to defend himself saying that the organizer has it all wrong. And he would never skip out on a charity event without notice. On top of offering his side of the story on skipping the benefit show he offered to send a 6-figure donation. Sources close to Chris say he is currently in negotiations with the Houston-based charity to settle the situation. But Bailey recently stated that she is willing to bring Chris to court if he fails to make things right.

There are definitely two sides to this story and only time can tell which is the truth!

Presented by VEVO, Ariana Grande and Ty Dolla $ign give a lush performance of Ariana Grande’s “Safety Net”

Currently trending at number 17 on YouTube Music, the song was originally released in 2020 off of Ariana Grande’s sixth studio album, Positions.

The virtual performance, released on July 7, starts with Grande walking over the edited-on title of the song. The multi-dimensional virtual edits, combined with the lush stage setting, give the quality of a real-life performance.

The creative set, filled to capacity, features dense greenery and pastel flowers, ranging from light purple to pink and white. Matching the flowers is Grande, wearing all black, but sporting bright purple elbow-length gloves. Surrounding her, a live band.

The camera angle rotates a full 360 degrees, showing you every angle of Grande, the band and the set, giving us a great cinematography moment.

The main eye-catchers, however, are the ever-changing colors of the curved over-head LED light.

Captivating our attention, the alternating lights control the entire ambiance of the performance

The bright white light that once captivated Ariana Grande at the beginning of the performance, fades to black for calmer parts of the song. Meanwhile, when Ty Dolla $ign finally enters the set, the lights switch to a warmer yellow tone.

The glowing lights fade in and out throughout the rest of the song, playing with various color tones and vibrancies.

With melodious harmonization, the two cardinal signs (Ariana Grande, a cancer; Ty Dolla $ign, an aries) share a powerful connection on stage that viewers can feel through the screen.

This is Ariana Grande’s first live performance since she recently got married in May. She is also featured on Doja Cat’s new album, Planet Her, released in June.

Concurrently, Ty Dolla $ign recently released a new single in April called By Yourself featuring Bryson Tiller, Jhené Aiko, and Mustard.

Cardi loves to serve looks with her pregnancy glow

Their first child, Kulture (2), was announced in a similar manner: onstage while she performed live on Saturday Night Live in 2018. She has also made her stances on correct parenting on many occasions, often receiving backlash for her methods. Overall, the NYC rapper clearly wants her audience to see and feel her excitement for being a mother. She regularly praises Offset’s parenting of Kulture, most recently on Instagram for Father’s Day.

Coi Leray’s Worse Performance?! Backlash

Coi Leray Backlash Over Performance

SO! I’m sitting here diving into what apparently was Coi Leray’s worse performance to date and I think after taking in the words from haters and seeing what Nicki had to say here are my thoughts.

It wasn’t a bad performance at all, that’s number one. Coi Leray did her thing so I was confused as to why Twitter was on her back like that. After seeing those tweets and what people were saying about her

It was actually crazy, but I was happy to see the Queen herself come to Coi’s aid and give her words of encouragement that I think all needed to SEE!

Coi Leray
The RAPSTAR himself came through with some aid for Coi Leray, stating; “That’s how it be when you first come in, then you blow.”  That’s when it’s all-stars from there! I’m extremely proud of Coi Leray myself because performing with even just 12 people in a room could be riveting. She did it with a Venue full. Either way, she did her thing and you can check out her performance yourself!

Beyoncé Fans Blast Jennifer Lopez For Allegedly Copying “Drunk In Love” Performance

Jennifer Lopez performing at the 2020 AMAs
Jennifer Lopez Performing at the 2020 American Music Awards (AMAs)

Last night, the American Music Awards took place live, in-person, and indoors despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Jennifer Lopez’s (@jlo) performance raised heads as it looked a little bit too similar to Beyoncé (@beyonce) and Jay-Z’s (@allthingjayz) 2014 Grammy duet. J. Lo’s striking performance included the songs “Pa’ Ti” and “Lonely” as she shared the stage with Maluma.

Fans were quick to point out the similarities in the “Drunk In Love” performance and J. Lo’s. Her hair, the stage lighting, the fog, and the dance moves name just a few. Beyoncé’s fans, also known as the BeyHive, refused to keep quiet about the whole thing and took it to social media to share their thoughts and opinions. See one of the memes a fan made below.

Other Performances

Additionally, other debates were made after the AMAs. Doja Cat’s win for Best Female Artist Soul/R&B has been the topic of discussion as people define what exactly R&B music sounds like. Taylor Swift won Artist of the Year while up against Post Malone, The Weeknd, Roddy Rich, and Justin Bieber.

Justin Bieber’s opening performance was a roller coaster of emotions for himself and for those watching. He started with the slow and somber “Lonely” and then switched it up to his bright “Holy”. His use of mirrors as props got his point of self-reflection across, although the choreography didn’t add much to the performance.

Katie Perry’s duet with Darius Rucker got some negative comments due to their voices not meshing together quite perfectly, despite their efforts in the stripped-down ballad.

Megan Thee Stallion killed her “Body” performance, and Billie Eilish did a fantastic job singing her new “Therefore I Am”.

Taraji P. Henson hosted the ceremony, and other performers included The Weeknd, Nelly, Dua Lipa, Lil Baby and more.
