“Power Book II: Ghost” Season 3: Another Big Character Dies

Power Book II: Ghost” is cranking the heat in this latest episode. The show kept some characters very safe for a while, and many people felt safer than usual in the franchise. However, in true Courtney Kemp’s passion, no one is ever safe in the Power universe.

SPOILER ALERT: Major character named who dies

Another central character was killed off in this latest episode because he put a target on his back. Cooper Saxe, played by Shane Johnson, was murdered. He was the longest-serving character in the Power universe. He surprisingly made it from the first chapter of harassing Ghost and Tommy to harassing Ghost’s son Tariq St. Patrick in “Power Book II: Ghost.”

If you were really paying attention to the pattern of most people fighting for the law in this universe, you would have known Saxe’s days were numbered. Then he really put the cherry on top, making himself a “double agent.” He was trying to put Tariq in jail with a RICO case while trying to get close to the college student.

Cooper Saxe’s Shocking Death Revealed

Method Man’s character Davis MacLean notifies his brother Theo about Cooper’s betrayal. Therefore, MacLean’s brother takes matters into his own hands literally… with a weapon to the now-deceased lawyer’s head. Leading to the end of the episode, we see Davis and Tariq pleading with Theo to keep Johnson’s character alive. However, Davis’ sibling had nothing to lose as he surprisingly admits his treatments are not working to keep him alive. He tells his brother he would be the “perfect person to do it (kill Saxe),” which he then turns out to be.

Theo puts a gun on Cooper Saxe’s back and fatally shoots him. Despite that, he is not done as he aims the gun at his chin and shoots himself dead, leaving fans in shock.

Reaction To The Power OG’s Death

Viewers had mixed reactions to the Power OG’s death, between rejoicing and kind of being sad about his demise.

However, in all of this, Tariq might have bigger problems. Not only about Effie (now jailed) possibly snitching on him, but Cooper Saxe’s huge threat. Before the lawyer died, he had claimed that he would bury Tasha and Yas’ whereabouts. Tariq’s mom and younger sister were both in witness protection.

Shocking deaths in chapter II would probably have to be Zeke Cross being shot off the private jet by Lorenzo Tejada. Plus, Lorenzo Tejada’s death because I thought it would be Monet to slit his throat even though figuratively she did.

Power Book II Returns With Trailer For Long-Awaited Season 3

Power Book II: Ghost is returning to our screens next month on St. Patrick’s Day. A release date fit for Tariq St. Patrick, played by Michael Rainey Jr., who teased us with a new trailer on his Instagram.

The long-awaited season 3 continues to follow Tariq in New York, but it looks like his luck is wearing thin.

Tariq Image Change

The trailer shows shots fired at a funeral (which we all can assume is Zeke’s) and the first few seconds Davis MacLean, played by Method Man, warning St. Patrick about his “image.”

MacLean says — “a suit does a lot for an image, Tariq. But it won’t fool the people still watching… your every move.” Then St. Patrick answers with “I made it this far, right?”

The Tejada Family Grieves While Tariq Finds New Market

In addition, Tariq James St. Patrick comes to a revelation and creates a new lane for money to come through… Wall Street. This epiphany arrives as the Tejada family grieve their cousin, or brother after Monet’s — played by Mary J. Blidge — confession, Zeke’s death.

Consequently leading to the blossoming drug kingpin invading Wall Street’s financial district to move product. However, some similarities spark — as we all know Tariq was trying to run from the ghost of his father — and it looks like the nightclub scene is exactly where he will end up.

Is Tariq Following Ghost’s Footsteps?

Therefore the legacy does remind us and his fictional grandmother in the dramatic clip, “I’m not like my dad… I’m smarter than him.” But time will tell as we watch Tariq’s future intensify right before our eyes.

According to The Wrap, Starz promises this season will be “flashier, sexier, and juicier” than anything we’ve seen yet. I guess the strip club scene in the trailer is a hint for what is to come. We also see Brayden whipping out a gun in a close-up shot, Monet aiming hers at someone multiple times, and Tariq having one aimed at him as usual.

It seems it will be extreme, and I’d like to say we are all ready for season 3.

Season 4?

According to Variety, 50 Cent’s Power Book II got an early season 4 renewal. Hopefully this means the wait won’t be too long this time between seasons…

50 Cent Slams STARZ, “6 Months Till I Have Anything New”

The Queens legend is known for not holding his tongue, and obviously, nothing changed. 50 cents newest target is tv network Starz.

50 Cent VS. STARZ

50 Cent has succeeded not only in music but television as well. In addition to his hit tv series Power, BMF and For Life have received critical and commercial acclaim. With several shows currently in development, you’d think 50 would have a good relationship with Starz. The million-dollar media company has been the network behind 50’s portfolio since Power premiered in 2014. But recently he’s been airing out grievances online.

According to the ‘21 Questions’ rapper, following the final four episodes of Power Book IV: Force none of his shows will air for six months.

This past weekend (Mar. 19) 50 reposted a fan-made TikTok and explained his frustration in the caption.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by 50 Cent (@50cent)

“I have 4 more episodes of FORCE, then I don’t have anything airing on STARZ for six months so y’all know the vibes,” he typed.

He continued, “FORCE is the highest rated premier of any show on the network. when they take too long to green light it, it pushes the production time line back. after tonight’s episode there are 3 left, April 10 it’s a wrap. Then 6 months till i have anything new.”

Trouble in paradise

Apparently, 50 and Starz are going through a particularly bad spell. Earlier this month (Mar. 1) 50 claimed he was finished with the network altogether.

“This is me packing my stuff, STARZ, Sucks, my deal is up over here I’m out.” He announced at the time. “They Renewed High town and FORCE is the highest rated show they have sitting in limbo. If I told you how much dumb sh*t I deal with over here. you would think they all went to school on a small yellow bus.”

It can’t be denied the 46-year-old has brought a ton of attention to Starz with his impressive lineup. Hopefully, everything can be straightened out so we can continue to get good content. One thing for certain, this NY icon isn’t afraid to demand his respect.

Method Man Lands Cover of Essence: Talks Music, Acting and More

Earlier this week, Essence revealed the digital cover and the interview with Method Man. The legendary Wu-Tang member also sat down with the publication to discuss his feelings about being a sex symbol. The artist also spoke on how he transitioned from being one of the leading voices in hip hop to killing it in Hollywood, landing multiple TV and film roles.

Method Man On Being a Sex Symbol: “I don’t understand that shit”

During the interview, Method Man talked about being on the top of every woman’s wish list since the 90s. The artist shared that while his social media posts may serve as thirst traps, that’s not his intention. In the end of the day, he just likes working out.

“I go to the gym for my own peace of mind. I don’t do it to become someone’s sex symbol or a pinup on someone’s wall, I do it for me. People like attention. I’m the same as everybody else. But at the end of the day, take me seriously, not lightly.”

Meth On Acting

Method Man also revealed that while he has always had a passion for acting, the “changing of the guards” in Hip-Hop helped him push harder in the acting lane.

The higher-ups, the so-called gatekeepers, didn’t have much use for a 44-year-old rapper,” Method Man said in the interview. “There was a changing of the guard in hip-hop.

Jumping into the acting world could be a tough transition for some Hip-Hop stars, but the 50-year-old rap icon has made it look effortless. Last month the New York native received an NAACP Image Award nomination for his stellar acting chops. Business is certainly booming for Meth.

However, Method Man explained in the interview that he also wants nothing more than to be taken seriously in his third decade in the entertainment industry. “I was a Black boy living in some of the worst areas of New York. I’ve always felt like I wasn’t enough. I’ve been told that from the gate, “You don’t belong here,” without words sometimes,” Meth says.

Method Man shows no signs of slowing down, at least throughout the interview. He currently graces the small screen as attorney Davis Maclean on the Starz, 50 Cent-produced series Power Book II: Ghost and on The Godfather Of Harlem. The artist brings crime boss Sam Christian to life.

50 Cent Set To Turn Snoop Dogg’s 1996 Murder Trial Into A TV Show

50 Cent could have another hit TV show on his hands, this time centered around Snoop Dogg’s infamous murder trial in 1996. The Power creator and producer also took to his Twitter account to announce the news.

“I’m afraid this is going to be a problem for everything on Tv.” He wrote.

Snoop Dogg’s Murder Trial of 1996

Shante Broadus, also known as Snoop Dogg, was arrested in 1993 in connection with the murder of a rival gang member. According to reports, the rapper’s bodyguard, McKinley Lee, was suspected of shooting and killing the individual. Mr. Dogg lived in an apartment complex in the Palms area of West Los Angeles, just near where the incident occurred.

The court charged Snoop Dogg and his bodyguard with murder. The rapper allegedly drove the vehicle from which the suspect fired the gun. The trial happened at a time when Mr. Broadus was also gaining popularity in the music industry. He had just released his debut album, ‘Doggystyle’ a few months prior, eventually selling over five million copies.

The trial became a subject of public interest, sparking a debate on whether Gangster Rap contributed to the rise of social problems such as drug abuse and gun violence. The court acquitted Snoop Dogg and McKinley Lee of the charges on February 20th, 1996. That was just six days after the intense deliberation.

50 Cent and Snoop Dogg’s Friendship

50 Cent and Snoop Dogg have remained close friends over the years with the ‘Many Men’ rapper also featuring Mr. Dogg in his new TV series, ‘Black Mafia Family.’ Mr. Dogg plays a pastor in the first season of the show.

Starz Drop Trailer For 50 Cent’s ‘Power Book II: Ghost’

Starz cable network dropped the trailer for season 2 of 50 Cent’s ‘Power’ ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ show. The show is set to premier on Sunday, November 21, at 8 pm ET. Check out the long awaited season 2 trailer

https://youtu.be/v9pprUeZRU0

‘Power’

50 Cent’s ‘Power‘ is a crime-drama show, which has been airing since 2014. The story comes around James St. Patrick- the drug dealer from New York. He has an alias by the name of “Ghost” and wishes to quit the life of crime. St. Patrick’s end goal is a legitimate job of the nightclub owner. At the same time, the main character balances between other crime partners, wife Tasha with son Tariq, and love affairs with the criminal prosecutor.

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ is a part of the 50 Cent’s ‘Power’ Universe. Overall, it has six seasons; all are on Starz. The executive producers are Courtney A. Kemp through End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM.

The six-part ‘Power‘ show franchise stopped in 2020. However, now the ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ part is getting a sequel. The focus shifts to James’s son, Tariq. He’s also the main character in the upcoming new season.

‘Power Book II: Ghost’

Starz has also provided a short synopsis of the upcoming ‘Power’ part.

“Power Book II: Ghost begins its second season with Tariq St. Patrick still running from a legacy that haunts him. Forced into the choice to take the life of his professor, Jabari Reynolds, Tariq finds himself drifting further from that which he’s been fighting to protect: his family. With Tasha in witness protection, Tariq knows he must sacrifice anything to save what’s left of his family.”

50 Cent is also to appear in the show. The rapper is playing Kanan Stark, who has some “choice words” for Tariq. He doesn’t participate at the beginning of the season but appears eventually throughout the show.

50 Cent & The Movie Industry

50 Cent is a well-known figure in the film industry. The rapper and producer received multiple image awards for the first season of ‘Power Book II: Ghost.’ He also recently premiered the ‘Black Mafia Family’ TV show. Finally, 50 said that “it would be fun” to make a rom-com with Nicki Minaj. Read on all that and more @ FMHipHop.

50 Cent Thanks NAACP After “Power Book II: Ghost” Wins Multiple Image Awards

50 cent is more than just a rapper. 50 Cent is an entrepreneur. A businessman who always explored other options besides rap. Since ‘Power’ has come to an end, that has not stopped the rapper from branching off into other things. ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ is the latest project from the rapper, and despite not having receiving mainstream award nominations, it is an incredible show.

Not to mention, the show has recently won three NAACP Image Awards. One for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (Mary J Blidge), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Clifford Smith, known as Method Man of Wu-Tang), and Outstanding Drama Series. 50 Cent took to Instagram to show appreciation for the NAACP and paying his respects. “I’d like to thank the NAACP for recognizing the work of the cast and crew of Ghost: Michael Rainey, Mary J. Blige, Clifford Smith better known as “M-E-T-H-O-D Man.” We are excited that the fans are continuing to support the Power universe.”

Again, this is not the first time 50 Cent has spoken positively on the award show. When ‘Power’ was going through its final season, 50 Cent not only showed gratitude but also blasted other award shows. 50 Cent believed there was a racial element that played a part in the lacking of Emmy nominations. Despite ‘Power’, as the highest ‘Starz’ top-rated series, still no nominations. And I agree.

In light of the ‘Game of Thrones’ racking up 32 nominations at the time and ‘Power’, receiving zero nominations is weird. In comparison, both shows are unique on their own. With one show being predominantly ‘White’ and the other ‘Black’, you have to ask the question. Is race involved? Power is no longer on TV, but Power Book II: Ghost, did not receive any Emmy nominations this year.

In conclusion, this is important why there are award shows like BET and NAACP. We need awards shows that cater to our own, whereas others do not appreciate our work.

#FM Trends: Lala and New Theme Song Sour Power

Fans Outraged Over New Power Theme Song

Season 6 of Power came on and something was different. Possibly the best thing about power is the intro as Joe sings “Its a Big Rich Town” and 50 raps as the opening credits roll. This season something was different as Joe was replaced by Trey Songz. Fans went to Twitter and blasted the change. Honestly, the change wasn’t needed. The intro song changing might a sign of a bad season. Reviews have been mixed on the direction of Power the last few years. The quality of the writing has dipped along with acting. Power has went from can’t miss TV to they really thought this was good.

Fans Can’t Stand Lala’s Acting.

Another thing had fans burning the new season down to the ground was Lala. She has been a supporting character from Seasons 1-5, but has a larger role after the deaths of a few main characters last season. She was ok as Tasha’s best friend who got leftover clothes and accessories from Tasha’s wardrobe. Now she dates Tommy and is in the middle of the falling out between him and Ghost. The main issue is Tasha has great chemistry with all characters in the show. Lala or Lakeisha( her name in the show) is barely believable in her role. No one is buying Carmelo’s real life wife to perform in shootouts and wage war along Tommy’s side. The more we see her the more the show declines.

Power’s Last Stand?

50 Cent makes his directorial debut for episode 3 and vowed to bring back the old theme song. This episode is supposedly to be explosive and action packed. The death of Angela was supposed to set up Season 6 for greatness, but has left a huge void in the show. Her character and Kanan advanced the plot and set up the show up beautifully. With them gone, if a St. Patrick isn’t on screen the show suffers. Maybe the return of the theme song will return things back to  normal.

#FMTrends: 50 Cent “Power” Spin Off will be a Prequel

50 cent teases a “Power” Prequel with a Kanan Spin-off

Fans all thought Kanan was dead and gone. The character who suffered more deaths than a horror movie villain will be back in a prequel, according to 50 Cent. 50 went to Instagram to announce the spin-off was happening. Fiddy has been in the director’s chair for Power. Season 6 is currently filming and is due for a summer 2019 release.

What Would a Kanan Spin-off Look Like?

The Instagram post shared states the show starting in 1988. I will predict that Kanan will have a background in boxing wanting to fight. The street life will turn him on and here is your Power spin-off. Us as fans will see how he met Ghost and Tommy. Interesting to see how they overthrow the former king of the streets in Queens. I have always wondered if Tasha and Kanan ever did anything. All the possibilities are on the table. There is no word yet on casting and the title of the show. “Power” has been the 2nd most watched drama on cable for the past 3 years.

50 and Courtney Kemp are Winning Big!!

50 Cent has been dominating the television scene. Power co-creator Courtney Kemp reached a deal to develop more series for Starz through her company, “End of Episode”. One of those series is the Power spin-off. Fiddy is currently developing a series based on the Black Mafia Family called “BMF”. The show is based off the raise and fall of Big Meech’s criminal organization. That is also set to premiere on Starz. He claims this show will be bigger than Power. Fans are currently anticipating the debut of both shows and the 6th season of Power.
