Belly, The Weeknd, and Young Thug came together in a new single and music video, “Better Believe”

Three big names came together to release a single, titled “Better Believe,” on Thursday. Unsurprisingly, Belly, The Weeknd, and Young Thug are three names fans were excited to hear on the same song. So far, it is safe to say the collaboration did not disappoint. On the track, the three artists take their turn rapping about their struggles with success and haters praying on their downfall.

The music video features the three artists in different locations. We see The Weeknd in a stylish suit doing donuts in an all-black car at night. Following that, we see a car on fire behind him. Belly similarly does his verse from a car, following the Weekend’s lead with fire blazing behind him. Young Thug delivers his verse with women around him, showing off his watch and fit. The three make it clear in the video that they are powerful, above the average, and successful.

The song will appear on Belly’s upcoming album, See You Next Wednesday. This has fans excited for other potential big names to appear on the album, considering the instant success and general positive rating from fans. Belly set the bar high with this track and its features, and no one is surprised!

Diddy’s New Album “Off The Grid Vol. 1” Drops This Fall

Diddy officially has an album in the works!

The fashion/music icon announced via Instagram that his upcoming project will drop in the fall.

This news comes right after he hired The Weeknd and Doja Cat‘s manager Wassim “Sal” Slaiby. He’s named the LP Off The Grid Vol. 1. It’s unclear whether this is a short or full-length project.

Nevertheless, fans are excited! Off the Grid Vol. 1 will be Diddy’s latest album since Press Play in 2016. 

In 2015, Diddy also dropped a mixtape called MMM (Money Making Mitch). It served as a collaboration between Bad Boy and Epic Records. Artists like Big Sean, French Montana, Future, Jadakiss, Lil‘ Kim, Pusha T, Styles P, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla Sign, and Wiz Khalifa are featured on MMM as well. Likewise, it contained a plethora of producers, including Diddy. 

Diddy a.k.a Brother Love is a rapper, singer, record producer, record executive, and entrepreneur.

Born in New York City and raised in the suburb of Mount Vernon, he has worked as a A&R at Uptown Records before starting his own record label, Bad Boy Records in 1993. Brother Love has produced and helped develop artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige and Usher. In his career he’s won three Grammy Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards and is the producer/host of MTV’s Making the Band. In 1998, he had his own fashion label as well called Sean John. The prestigious outerwear was nominated for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) award for Menswear Designer of the Year in 2000. Four years later, it took the title home.

Doja Cat recently released the music video for ‘You Right’, featuring The Weeknd. It is one of the songs off her newest album, “Planet Her”. 

To the naked eye, the video is a space-themed conflict between Doja Cat, The Weeknd, and another man.

However, the video is actually flooded with many astrological references.

Directed by Quentin Deronzier, the video opens with a modelesque Doja Cat standing between two ends of a scale. Scales symbolically represent balance, equality, and justice. In astrology, these themes also represent the sun sign of Libra.

Doja Cat has her sun sign in Libra and represents it by wearing her hair in the symbol of the sign.

Effortlessly and breathtakingly, she walks toward the balance scale to reveal that it’s holding a beating heart on one end and a game of chess on the other. This astrological reference shows the balance between head and heart that most Libras, like Doja Cat, struggle to maintain.

The video continues with not only astrological references, but references to tarot and the popular astrology app, ‘The Pattern’ through stunning cinematics.

“What’s cool about this video is— you don’t see this much, but I wanted to touch on astrology and zodiac signs and how they effect each other. I don’t do it so much in the video, like it’s not that obvious. So I feel like that was a good way to kind of twist it and reveal it in a music video,” said Doja Cat in a recent interview.

The Weeknd makes his appearance in the stars as Doja Cat ascends into the galaxy.

As Doja longs for him, the two air signs are together for a millisecond before he beams her back down to earth. He then becomes a water bearer and showers her with water from above. 

Being the sun sign of Aquarius, the sign of the water bearer, The Weeknd represents his own sun sign. As an Aquarius, water represents spiritual knowledge. The goal of the Aquarius is to fill his barrel and share his knowledge with the world.

At the end of the video, Doja Cat sits on her bed with a man she doesn’t want as water pours through the ceiling. With buckets surrounding her, she attempts to fill them up with water from The Weeknd, who forever remains in the stars.

The Weeknd Meets with USAID to Discuss Ethiopian Hunger Crisis

The Weeknd meets with US officials to be briefed on the Ethiopian humanitarian crisis

The Weeknd has always made it his priority to raise awareness and support worthwhile causes worldwide. Last year alone, he made many large donations to different causes: a million for coronavirus relief, $500,000 to help fight for racial justice, and $300,000 for victims of the explosion in Beirut. The R&B singer, born to Ethiopian parents, is again providing aid and spreading awareness, this time for his home country.

In November 2020, war broke out between the local and Federal governments in Ethiopia’s Tigray region. As a result, over one million people are displaced and over 4.5 million people are in need of help. There are also rumors of some form of “ethnic cleansing” in the region. Harvests have been wiped out, leaving some areas in the area near famine. The Weeknd was moved to help.

A Helping Hand

Back In April, he decided to donate 1 million dollars to provide 2 million meals to the area. He shared his thoughts on Instagram.

“My heart breaks for my people of Ethiopia as innocent civilians ranging from small children to the elderly are being senselessly murdered and entire villages are being displaced out of fear and destruction. I will be donating $1 million to provide 2 million meals through the United Nations World Food Program and encourage those who can to please give as well.”

He took his efforts further by meeting with the USAID earlier this week. He was briefed on the US response to the crisis. The USAID is involved in being part of the relief of the region, providing more than 181 million dollars to Tigray. That money should be able to feed 3 million people for two months. Moreover, the USAID provided seeds to the area to help farmers grow new crops.

Chloe Bailey Leaves Cardi B ‘Blushing’ Over Her Rendition of “Be Careful”

Since creating her own Instagram account, Chloe Bailey has been on a roll! And her latest cover has “Bodak Yellow” rapper blushing… 

This past weekend Chloe Bailey dropped yet another smashing cover. This time the “Do It” singer tapped into Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy album track “Be Careful.” Leaving the rapper sending admiration over the rendition. As a result, the Bronx rapper took to social media to praise Bailey for her R&B rendition of the single. “This is soo beautiful got me smiling from ear to ear and blushing maa hard,” the rapper tweeted. “You see this how I thought I sounded on the track.”

Again, “Be Careful” is Cardi B’s third single off her Grammy award-winning album Invasion of Privacy, which also peaked #1 on the Billboard 200. 

Since Chloe x Halle decided to create their own Instagram accounts, Chloe has released several covers that include Bruno Mars & Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open,” The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” and Yung Bleu’s “You’re Mine’s Still.” Which caught the singer’s attention, proclaiming that they should do a song. 

 

Obviously Chloe is killing the game right now and everybody should be taking pointers. It was just a while back Mathew Knowles (Beyonce’s father) was shutting down claims as the singer being the next Beyonce’. With her charismatic charm, sultry voice, and being a considerate triple threat (singing, dancing, and acting! What can this girl not do!).

Chloe Bailey may not be the next Bey, but she could definitely be the next star on the rise.

The Weeknd Donates $1M in Food Aid to Ethiopia

The Weeknd has always been generous when it comes to charitable causes he cares about.

In 2020, he donated $1M to the covid relief fund, $500K to combat racial brutality, and $300K to the victims of the port explosion in Beirut. Most recently he has donated $1M to the United Nations World Food Program. This will provide 2 million meals to people who have been displaced in Ethiopia due to conflict. 

In November 2020, conflict broke out in Northern Ethiopia between the governments. This has caused violence and has left many with no food or resources. The Weekend took to Instagram to say his heart breaks for the innocent people who are dying. The Weekend was born to Ethiopian immigrants making the cause close to his heart. He encourages anyone who could afford it to donate to Ethiopia.

The Weeknd (@theweeknd) announced the drop of his ‘Too Late’ music video last night via Instagram. The R&B singer posted a photo on Instagram with the caption “GRAB YOUR CANDY AND POPCORN CAUSE THE “TOO LATE” VIDEO DROPS TOMORROW. THE SAGA CONTINUES.” He is referring to his album “After Hours”, which continues to be a never-ending saga. No complaints here.

“After Hours” debuted at the top of the latest Billboard 200 album chart and the Hot 100 singles chart. Additionally, ‘Blinding Lights’ stayed in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 rankings for 28 weeks and earned most weeks in the Top Five for any artist in the chart’s history. According to Nielsen, “After Hours” is the biggest opening of the year so far (444,000 sales in U.S.).

After Hours Music Videos

‘Too Late’ marks the 6th visual installment from the album. Other videos The Weeknd has launched from the “After Hours” fantasy include ‘Heartless’, ‘In Your Eyes’, ‘Until I Bleed’, and the big hit ‘Blinding Lights’. The Weeknd also created a 5 minute short film for the song ‘After Hours’ itself.

Real name Abel Tesfaye, The Weeknd created the music videos to all coincide and supposedly take place in the same one night. The “character” is having a really bad night and there are tons of references within each video. In an interview with Variety, the singer explains some references: “There’s the ‘Chinatown’ reference with the broken nose, the ‘Jacobs Ladder’ reference with the subway, ‘King of Comedy’ for Jimmy Kimmel, ‘Trouble Every Day,’ ‘Possession,’ ‘Dressed to Kill’ with the elevator — and of course ‘After Hours,’ Martin Scorsese’s [1985] film, is the obvious inspiration, with all this madness taking place in one night.”

He also highlights that the videos tie in with the music, but sometimes it feels like the music is ‘more the soundtrack for it, the [musical] score.’ Another fun fact is: ‘Blinding Lights’ was the fastest melody that The Weeknd ever made; He went into a room for 20 minutes and wrote the entire song.

“Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd (@theweeknd) has broken the record for longest running Top 5 hit in history on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, surpassing Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” which held the record of 27 weeks.

The song of the summer and the one that everyone cannot seem to get out of their heads, “Blinding Lights” has taken over Tik Tok, radio stations, and the Billboard Hot 100 for a new record of 28 weeks. His successes don’t stop here though. “Blinding Lights” also won The Weeknd Video of the Year and Best R&B at the MTV VMA’s.

Last month, “Blinding Lights” also broke a 22-year-old record when it was placed atop Billboard Radio Songs airplay chart for a 19th week. The record was previously held by the Goo Goo Doll’s “Iris” since 1998.

It seems as though The Weeknd is taking no breaks when it comes to making new music. He reported to Rolling Stone earlier this month that he’s creating another album that should be completed by the time quarantine is over.

This year, The Weeknd has shown major success! With his newest album After Hours, there’s been much success from the album along with its top hits such as “Blinding Lights“, “In Your Eyes“, and “Heartless“. But “Blinding Lights” in particular has been an outstanding achievement, as The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” makes Billboard history! The hit has been number one on the charts for 21 weeks! This marks Billboard history, as in the past the record was 20 weeks for Drake’s “One Dance“. Congratulations The Weeknd!

In the music industry, sounds and artists are constantly changing. Furthermore, remaining number one on the charts often lasts a few weeks. It’s pretty rare for singles to become number one on the Billboard charts for 20 weeks in a row! But The Weeknd has gone above and beyond with “Blinding Lights”. Instead of 2o weeks, he made it to 21 weeks in a row! It’s the most popular song right now for The Weeknd on Spotify. The Weeknd’s hit has also been on the Billboard charts for 36 weeks (and counting). There’s just something about The Weeknd and how he magically combined the genres of R&B and pop together! No wonder The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” Makes Billboard History. The song works for all tastes of popular music.

In addition to The Weeknd’s amazing news, he continues to deliver new music. “Smile“, the newest song by Juice Wrld and The Weeknd could be next to make Billboard chart history! The collaboration is sure to make major success in the near future.

With The Weeknd’s caption, true fans of the artists knew exactly what he meant by his caption choice. In the caption he used nicknames. XO is The Weeknd’s record label, and 999 was a meaningful number for Juice Wrld’s throughout his success in the hip hop industry.
