French Montana’s Album “They Got Amnesia” Is Finally Here

 

French Montana is ready to prove himself to the world with his new album, They Got Amnesia. He’s already an award-winning artist and mixtape king but, hip-hop fans question his ability to make hits. There’s even a viral meme about it. The meme states that French Montana doesn’t make popular solo songs. In response, he tweeted about his influence on the industry. This influence, he says, includes putting on artists such as Lil Durk. Durk responded to the controversy on Instagram. It basically states that Montana’s statement is “cap.” Despite all the internet drama however, fans impatiently await French’s music whenever he drops. Now, his fourth studio album is finally here.

The cover art for They Got Amnesia depicts French in the hospital which, according to sources, is inspired by his trip to the hospital in 2019. Two years later we have an epic album with 20 songs. Take a listen below. 

Delay no more

They Got Amnesia was delayed, but French Montana fans got a taste of the project through music videos and single releases. The videos for “Panicking” and “I Don’t Really Care” came out just a few weeks ago. Both of them already have over 5 million views. 

Despite his Squid Game driven Twitter rant, French Montana’s new album has lots of features. It features hot new artists like Doja Cat, Saweetie, Fivio Foreign, Coi Leray, MoneybaggYo, Lil Tjay, and 42 Dugg among others. Drake is even supposed to be on the album but he is no longer on it. Unfortunately, Drake’s pulled his feature from the album due to his respect for the Astroworld tragedy.

Sources say otherwise though. Lyrics from the leaked song “Splash Brothers” allegedly allude to him sleeping with Kim Kardashian. Either way, the collaboration song isn’t on the album. Other rap legends on the album are Rick Ross, John Legend, and Fabolous.

Drake To Not Appear On French Montana’s New Album Due To Astroworld Tragedy

Drake decides to back off from French Montana’s new album, but just for some time.

Artists initially recorded for Montana’s new “They Got Amnesia“ album. “Splash Brothers” feature will now, however, only appear on the album’s deluxe, according to TMZ’s sources. Thanks to the Astroworld surge with 10 death casualties, Drake was performing “Sicko Mode” amidst the stampede with Travis Scott.

The sources also reportedly stated Drake and Montana didn’t have any misunderstanding due to canceling the feature, since “Drake’s his brother, and he totally gets the reasoning.”

Drizzy & Ye

While Drake claims the feature on Montana’s album does not appear due to the recent incident, “Splash Brothers” leaked snippet might tell otherwise. The track, allegedly, has the following line: “I f*** a rapper’s wife. She ain’t even my type, but I make the sacrifice.”

Drake and Ye had a conflict recently, during which Drizzy hinted at sleeping with Kim Kardashian. Now the artists made up, and such lines might be unnecessary to put out in public. Who knows? Especially with the snippet being unconfirmed.

Ye also used the chance to invite Drizzy for a show in support of Larry Hoover. 

“Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other, and it’s time to put it to rest. I’m asking Drake on Dec 7 to join me on stage to share the two biggest albums of the year live in Los Angeles, with the ultimate purpose being to free Larry Hoover. I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause but prove to people how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together,” Ye stated

Kanye delivered his proposition in a video. Drake then confirmed his participation at the show.

French Montana’s New “They Got Amnesia” Album Tracklist Out Now

French Montana published the tracklist for his new album, They Got Amnesia . The record has 20 songs and one bonus “FWMGAB” remix feature with Moneybagg Yo. Other features are “Splash Brothers” with Drake and “Panicking” with Fivio Foreign.

Pop Smoke and Lil Durk also visit “Stuck in the Jungle,” while the “Best Friend” couple of Saweetie and Doja Cat join Montana on “Handstand.”

“They Got Amnesia” Singles

So far, French Montana has released three singles from the upcoming “They Got Amnesia.”

“FMWGAB” original track came out in June with a music video. The clip takes place in New York City. It’s also mainly produced with a fish-eye lens. Although, there are also high-quality shots where French Montana sits on a golden chain, which links two buildings, or stays on the top of The Statue of Liberty.

 

“Panicking” feature with Fivio Foreign was released just a couple days ago. The track also got a clip, this time almost a short movie. French and Five rob a plane full of cash. They eventually jump out of it, supposedly planning to parachute. The plot eventually develops into a mixture of a Wes Andersen movie and Hip-Hop music video. The ending is unexpected yet expected. The “I Don’t Really Care” clip came out a week ago. The music video ranges between multiple locations and also mixes real with surreal. Montana appears on various dates in the same restaurant while also finding himself sniping from the top of a skyscraper. This adds to the camera creatively switching from location to location. The hot sauce is used artistically, and an overall cinematic atmosphere feels.

So far, parts of the album appear to range within a broad spectrum of styles, at least for the music videos. It’s exciting to see what eventually will come out of the works. The record is out this Friday.
