Jay-Z Kills his Ego on 4:44 Kill Jay-Z Footnotes
The Footnote releases of of Jay-Z’s 4:44 album streaming now on Tidal has definitely proven to be the best behind the scenes insight given behind a project; let alone a Jay-Z Project.
As if its not already the Hard Knock Life emcee has the world buzzing off the platinum 4:44 album. Not to mention the release of “4:44 the footnotes“, which features different celebrities in the industry, and their views on relationships. The release of “The Story of OJ” and “4:44” music videos. The Marcy Projects-bred rapper can now add another to the list of visionary achievements, exclusively on TIDAL.
JAY-Z released the new video for his long awaited collaboration with Damian Marley, “Bam“. The track was named after the Sister Nancy sample used. However not only the sample, but Sister Nancy herself makes an appearance in the video, according to The Source Magazine. In her appearance, the legendary reggae artist talks about how her infamous “Bam Bam” song was simply a freestyle:
“It was a freestyle,” (Sister Nancy said.) “Bam Bam was just a freestyle, I didn’t write it. My music isn’t going anywhere, it’s timeless. Like with ‘Bam Bam’ even after I am gone where I am supposed to go it will still be here.”
In the video, the Welcome to Jamrock singer serves as a tour guide to Hov. The video takes place in Kingston, Jamaica. The two artists converse about the influence and culture of reggae in modern music to this day. They also pay homage to, as well as chat about, Damian‘s father, the legendary Bob Marley, and his contributions to reggae’s migration to the United States. Not to mention the No I.D. influenced track, mixed with exclusive verses from Hov, and a killer interpolated hook from Mr. Jr. Gong himself (courtesy of Jacob Miller’s “Tenement Yard“).
The new video was actually rumored in June, when Damian Marley sat down with Billboard.com to make clear speculations of the infamous, social media-spread picture of the Jamrock artist and Jigga (via dancehallhiphop InstaGram account). Damian said:
“Well, I did some work with him for some stuff that he’s working on,” (Marley says). “I’m not really sure of the details of his project in that sense, but we worked on some music together. I’ve been a fan of his music since he came out. We’ve never done any musical work together. So that was a joy to finally work together musically.”

Dubbed “The Sound of New York,” last night’s Sennheiser X TIDAL launch party welcomed rising talents Mayaeni and Kevin Garrett at the audio company’s pop-up store in SoHo (134 Prince St.). The enticing space displayed Sennheiser’s range of products, including microphones and headphones for professional and consumer use, in addition to showcasing the Roc Nation and TIDAL artists on stage. The event was the first of a series that will take place over the next four months, in which live performers utilize Sennheiser’s superior products in an exclusive exhibition.
Mayaeni’s bohemian style immediately connected with attendees in the intimate showroom, and the quality of the sound elevated the passion in her performance. “When I make music, it’s not just about sound or lyrics, it’s the experience. Sennheiser gets that,” she said in a press release ahead of the event.
Mellow Drama singer Kevin Garrett blew the crowd away with his soulful voice and elegant musicianship. The incorporation of Sennheiser’s audio technology took his show to another level. “I pride my performances on a high quality audio experience,” he explained. “As an artist I’m excited to work with a brand that strives for perfect sound and understands the artist’s creative process.”

“Let’s See who cracks first. I have a feeling I’m gonna crack first.”
Beyonce and Nicki Minaj have become best friends over the course of this year. Its like, every since Nicki Minaj was featured on “Feeling Myself” the two have become a public duo, or something. But let’s just be honest, when the two come together the outcome is usually epic, as Nicki would say.
Just last week, during the gals Tidal 10/20 Concert rehearsal, Bey threw out an Ice Grill Challenge, to the Trinidad native. After making a full turn, as the beat dropped, Bey uttered,
“By the way, ice grill me as long as you can. Let’s have a contest. Let’s see who cracks first.”
After winning the first Ice Grill face-off, Yonce twirled and jumped up and down at her reigning victory. However, the second time around, Ms. Minaj won the face-off, receiving a poke in both shoulders, from loser, Mrs. Carter. The challenge was done in good fun, and after round two, all the background dancers applauded the music moguls.
That looked like such a fun rehearsal.
